Amber chuckled softly and took another sip before folding her hands under her chin. She smiled at Theresa before flaming around at the others.
“So… What’s new in your lives?” she asked.
Amber chuckled softly and took another sip before folding her hands under her chin. She smiled at Theresa before flaming around at the others.
“So… What’s new in your lives?” she asked.
Holden, who had followed Theresa’s line of vision, frowned before his eyes widened. Then he caught the smile on Amber’s face and decided to keep quiet. It seemed that was the big surprise.
“You already know, Amber,” Drew answered with a smile. “But you… you tell us. How’s it going with William?”
Amber’s eyes sparkled at the question. How many of them would figure it out without her saying it?
“It’s wonderful. William is amazing,” she said, smiling over at him lovingly. “He’s so perfect…”
William looked back at Amber, a soft look in his eyes. He leaned forward to kiss her cheek gently, arms wrapping around her tighter.
“I wouldn’t know about being perfect, but I’m taking care of her all right,” he murmured. “As I will continue to do so for the rest of our lives together.
Amber smiled at him softly and turned to kiss him quickly. “Well, I think you’re perfect for me, and that’s all that matters,” she hummed, setting her chin in her hand.
“You guys are adorable,” Spring chuckled, leaning against Parker, who merely rolled his eyes. “It’s amazing seeing Will like this. He’s usually very grumpy.”
“Thanks, Spring,” William muttered sarcastically. The woman merely laughed.
“But really, it’s nice that you both are happy,” Jude grinned, squeezing Theresa’s hand. He’d figured out she knew.
“So, the couple of the year,” Parker looked up at William and Amber with a lazy smirk. “When are you going to break the news?”
“What news?” Amber laughed, setting her left hand flat on the table. “If there was news, I would probably make everyone guess.”
William merely chuckled, rubbing circles on his fiancée’s side. He didn’t say anything, just smirked at his friends. Spring tilted her head to the side, furrowing her eyebrows. The others who didn’t know were confused as well.
“There’s a news?” Drew quirked an eyebrow, looking up when an employee called them over for their orders.
“I’ll go get ‘em,” Holden said as he stood up, eyes washing over Amber’s hand again. “Jude, Theresa, mind helping me?”
The two nodded, following him to the counter.
“Now that I think about it,” Jordan furrowed his eyebrows. “There is a certain glow to you both, especially Amber. Please tell me you both use protection.”
Amber snorted and rolled her eyes. “Okay, for one, that is not the news. That shouldn’t even be news to you guys at this point. Secondly, yes. We do.”
William chuckled. "You guys are certainly dumb, aren't you?"
"Then what are you–"
"Oh, for God's sake," Parker rolled his eyes in exasperation. "William popped the question!"
The table fell silent.
Amber grinned, then laughed loudly. “You guys are all so oblivious. I can’t believe almost none of you noticed.”
The whole table exploded. The guys stood up from their seats, eyes wide as they stared at both Amber and William.
"No way!" Drew's eyes widened. "Seriously? You both are engaged?"
"Oh my God," Spring's eyes widened. "That's why you kept showing your left hand! I can't believe I didn't notice!"
Amber laughed again and looked up at William lovingly. “It’s awesome. I can’t wait to marry him,” she said softly.
“And I can’t wait to marry you,” William murmured in her ear, pressing a kiss to her neck. “You’re adorable, you know that, right?”
“I can’t believe it,” Drew blinked, leaning back on his seat. “You guys—“
“Tell us everything,” Spring interrupted, leaning forward in anticipation as the others returned with their sandwiches. “Everything.”
Amber shivered slightly at the kiss, setting her hand on his leg and giving him a light squeeze. “Well, I came home to a note taped to my door…” She explained the hunt and the dog William borrowed and everything else, grinning up at William the whole time.
“There were lanterns, there, too!” Jude provided with a laugh. “It was beautiful.”
“Of course it was,” William kissed his fiancée’s cheek. “It was a proposal. Those things need to be.”
“Congratulations, both of you!” Jordan grinned at them. “That’s really amazing.”
“Yeah,” Holden nodded. “Be happy. You guys deserve it.”
“Thanks, guys. I’m sure you’ll all be getting invitations soon enough. As soon as we figure everything out,” Amber said, leaning into William’s side.
William tightened his arm around her. “It won’t be very long.”
“I still can’t believe it,” Drew blinked. “The guy we thought would never get married is actually getting married. Who knew!”
“Guess I tamed the beast,” Amber joked, reaching up to peck him on the lips.
William snorted. “You sure did, Blue. You sure did…”
After everyone had eaten and William had paid, it was finally time to leave. One by one, each friend congratulated them. Finally, they all parted ways. When they were alone, William wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.
“Well,” he murmured. “That was interesting.”
Amber hummed and stretched up to peck him on the lips. “It was fun. Thank you for agreeing to this. It was cool to meet the other girls, too.”
William kissed her back, holding her close to him. "Of course I would agree," he murmured. "You have fun with them. I like that."
“And you don’t?” Amber asked, raising and eyebrow in amusement.
William rolled his eyes. "They're annoying," he muttered. "So annoying."
“But you love them,” Amber singsonged, kissing him again.
