"Step to the left a bit, and it's a straight shot to the ticket booth," Gabe said gently.
"Step to the left a bit, and it's a straight shot to the ticket booth," Gabe said gently.
Alex nodded, following Gabe's instructions.
Gabe kept close to Alex.
"We're here," he said softly.
Alex nodded faintly. "Now what?" He whispered.
"You need to go up to the man in the booth, and ask him for a ticket. He's going to ask were, and you need to say to Oregon." Gabe gently kissed Alex's cheek.
He nodded faintly, walking up to the booth, gripping the bag anxiously. "Uhm… excuse me?"
(Can you be the ticket guy please?)
(sure thing!)
The man in the booth looked up.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
(thanks!)
"I…I'd like to get to Oregon?" Alex said, fidgeting a little.
The man looked through his list of destinations.
"Three dollars," he said. Damn, that was expensive… it would take a good chunk out of their savings, for sure.
Alex bit his lip a little bit, taking a deep breath. "Okay. I…"
"Get the money from the bag," Gabe said softly. "You're doing good, we're almost done." The man looked at Alex expectantly.
"Are you going to hand over the money or keep wasting my time?"
Alex drew his shoulders in at the question, fishing the money out and handing it over with a quiet, stammering "sorry".
The man took the money, counting it once before handing over a ticket.
"It's on platform three, and leaves in fifteen minutes." Gabe let out a sigh of relief.
He nodded faintly, taking the ticket and heading towards platform three.
Gabe followed close behind.
"Right there," he said, pointing to the train before going back to holding the horn with both hands.
"Get on board at that door, and sit in one of the empty spots. You're doing great, love."
Alex did as Gabe said to, trying not to get side-tracked, trying to keep it together. There were so many people, and it was all so loud…
"I'm right here," Gabe said softly, trying to get Alex to focus on his voice.
"We're almost there, love."
Alex nodded faintly, listening to Gabe.
Gabe looked around, keeping an eye out for Alex.
"We're here," he said softly. "All you have to do now is sit down, and the train will take you to the West." Gabe kissed Alex's cheek lightly. "And I'll be with you the entire way."
Alex nodded a little, sitting down in an empty seat and taking a deep breath. He set the bag down, nodding again.
Gabe set down the horn carefully with the bag, then moved to gently sit on Alex's lap.
"You've done so good," he said softly, kissing Alex's forehead lightly.
He closed his eyes, leaning his head on Gabe and wishing they could cuddle but knowing that was a bad idea.
"We'll get to Oregon," Gabe said softly, "And you won't have to deal with anyone. We can settle down, and live alone."
He nodded faintly. "But you're still dead." He whispered.
"I… I know, Alex. But… nothing can change that now." Gabe gently kissed Alex's cheek, looking around to make sure no one noticed Alex.
