"Well, then. I guess it's all even, then. No one has an advantage!" Ciel laughed, loving the warmth of Melissa's hand in hers. She wished she could hold Melissa's hand anytime, instead of only when no one was around. But at least she got to at all. It was better than nothing.
Melissa smiled and nodded. She stopped at the clearing again. "By the way, some people from my old school might be coming to the party so umm I honestly want to sneak off as soon as possible," she said sitting down.
"Oh, I completely understand," Ciel said, nodding. If some people from her old school appeared at a party, she would probably rather jump out a window than stay anywhere near them. "We can just come in, do a lap or something, get a drink, then get out of there." She smiled gently at Melissa and sat down next to her.
Melissa took her hand again. “Thank you,” She said smiling softly. Her other hand ran through the grass.
"Of course," Ciel replied, a soft smile still playing on her lips. She never wanted for Melissa to feel uncomfortable about doing it being anywhere, and wanted to do as much as possible to make sure she felt safe and happy as much as possible. Ciel gently squeezed Melissa's hand, trying to convey all those thoughts with one motion.
Melissa blushed slightly and her smile grew. She looked up at Ciel. “We should have like an hour left before there game ends,” she said not sure what else to say.
"Alright." Ciel nodded. "Hopefully, our school wins. Just so everyone isn't super mopey at the party." She laughed slightly, head tilting back to look at the sky for a few seconds.
Melissa nodded. “Yeah. I can’t tell if they get drunker faster when they lose or win.”
"Huh, that's a good question. They might get drunk faster if they win because they're riding a winning high and drink a lot to celebrate… or they might try to drink away their sorrows. I guess we'll just have to see." Ceil shrugged.
Melissa laughed and nodded. She glanced at Ceil. “So what should we do for now?”
"I, uh, I don't know," Ciel admitted, a slightly embarrassed look on her face. "Do you want to do anything or have anything you want to do?"
Melissa shook her head,” no we can just chill,” she said leaning back on her hands.
"Cool." Ciel glanced at the grass behind her, then flopped onto her back. It was nice, just lying there in the grass. And she could see the sky so much better now. She glanced up at Melissa, a smile curving her lips upward.
Melissa smiled back and payed next to her. Holding her hand again.
"I know I'm saying it a lot," Ciel said softly, eyes still trained on the sky, "but it's so pretty here." She glanced over at Melissa, then back up at the sky.
Melissa nodded and looked at Ciel. “It really is. Plus it’s nice and peaceful,” she said. She was laying in her side slightly propping herself up in her arm.
"Much more than that stadium, that's for sure." Ciel moved so that her body was mirroring Melissa's. That way she could see her better. "That party is going to be a shock after this, isn't it?"
Melissa nodded. “Yeah it is,” she agreed. “But like you said we can just make a quick lap and sneak off.”
"Yeah. I'm glad that's what we're doing." Ciel brushed a few strands of her hair away from her face, careful not to disturb the flower Melissa had given her.
Melissa smiled at the flower. “Yeah. I can’t wait for everyone to leave after though. Then I can just sleep. I don’t think I’ve had a full nights sleep in awhile. I love Lili but she’s always waking me up,” she said laughing slightly.
"Ooh," Ciel said, wincing slightly, though it was more comical than serious. "That doesn't sound like the best situation to be in. But small children will do that." She shrugged, like 'what are you going to do'. "I hope that you get the best nights sleep ever tonight."
“I hope so too,” she said. “Brandon usually gets really drunk so he’ll probably pass out before everyone even leaves”
"That's good." Ciel nodded, eyes glued to the sky above her. "Hopefully, he won't make too much trouble before he does," She added as an afterthought.
Melissa nodded. “Yeah hopefully,” she said smiling softly.
Ciel glanced over at Melissa, happy to see a smile on her face. She deserved to be happy, and Ciel was determined to make sure that any time Melissa spent with her would be wonderful.
