Melissa talked with Alex for awhile but then Alex stormed off. Melissa was on her way back her eyes where watery and cheeks a little red but Brandon spotted her and called her over. She paused for a second to calmed down before walking over.
Ciel was now fully caught up in whatever drama was happening between Melissa and Alex. She was worried when Alex stomped off, but at least Melissa was coming back. Hopefully, Ciel would be able to comfort her a bit. Unfortunately, her plan was derailed by Brandon– as per usual. Ciel let out an annoyed breath and went back to staring at the stupid people doing stupid things.
Melissa was stuck with Brandon for a bit. He handed her some drinks and she’d already finished her bear. At one point Alex came up to Ciel. She still looked mad but calmed down slightly.
Ciel was making a point of not looking anywhere near Melissa and Brandon. She was kind of surprised when Alex appeared next to her. "Uh, hi. You're Alex, right? I'm Ciel." Ciel offered her a friendly smile.
Alex nodded back. “I just wanted to tell you to be careful,” she said keeping her voice down.
"Be careful of what?" Ciel asked, matching the volume of her voice to Alex's. "Melissa? This party? Cheap alcohol?" She laughed nervously, wondering what Alex was warning her about.
“Melissa. Not going to tell you about what but she’s lying to everyone here,” she said glancing at where Melissa and Brandon where. Melissa’s back was to them.
"What?" Surprise was written all over her face. She didn't know what to do. "Uh… should I be worried about what she's lying about?" Ciel finally asked, staring at Alex in confusion. Was the lie that Melissa was telling important? Important or not, Ciel was suddenly really curious.
Melissa looked over and saw that Alex was talking to Ciel. She immediately dismissed herself from Brandon and walked over to Them. She was slightly tipsy but clear headed enough.
Alex shrugged. “That’s something you can ask her,” she said her expression emotionless. She walked away before Melissa got over.
Ciel watched Alex go, a slightly annoyed look on her face. She didn't really want to know from another person that Melissa had a secret– it would have been better if Melissa herself had told her. Still, that didn't stop her from wanting to know what it was. "Hey, Melissa. Is everything alright?" Ciel asked, wondering how she would bring up the possible secret.
“Yeah everything’s fine. Just drank a tiny bit more than I wanted,” she said laughing slightly. “Want to go to my room?”
"Oh, yikes." Ciel glanced at her drink, which was still mostly full. She'd been too distracted by everything to sip on it. "Yeah, sure. Some of these people here are amazing me with their poor decisions. I'd rather not get involved." She laughed, setting her drink on a nearby table.
Melissa nodded and walked to the stairs. She stumbled slightly but other than that appeared fine.
Ciel followed Melissa, her hands flying up just in case Melissa fell over. She was glad she hadn't drunk a lot. That way, if Melissa needed her, she could help her easily.
Melissa smiled at Ciel as she walked upstairs. Once up she took Ciel’s hand.
Ciel grinned when Melissa took her hand, giving it a quick squeeze. "It's nicer around here already! Fewer people, less noise. I like it."
Melissa nodded. “Yeah downstairs is a nightmare,” she said opening the door to her bedroom. Luckily no one was inside.
"It really is." Ciel shook her head slightly. She was glad they were able to get out of the party. If that option hadn't been available, she might have gone insane.
Melissa walked into her room and sat on her bed.
Ciel followed Melissa into her room, pausing for a moment before joining her on the bed. "This is even better." She said softly. Her eyes closed as she took a deep breath. This was wonderful.
Melissa smiled to herself and nodded.
"So… um." Ciel started, suddenly nervous. "Alex talked to me. She was… angry." She trailed off, not sure how to phrase her question. She couldn't just accuse Melissa of lying to everyone.
Melissa looked down at her lap. “Yeah she’s mad at me,” she said playing with a loose thread on her blanket.
"Why?" Ciel blurted out, biting her lip as soon as the word was said. "She also said something about you lying, but that's fine. You're allowed to have secrets." She stumbled over the words as they came out and stared at the floor when she'd finished talking.
Melissa pauses. “I Umm we used to date but we broke up almost 2 years ago but we where still friends after. She’s mad because I didn’t tell her before I left. I didn’t really tell anyone and apparently they where all worried,” she said. “I… I can’t really tell you my secret right now.”
