"It's… My symbol," Halm said softly. "I claimed you." Claiming; a god stealing a human away from this world to use however they please.
"It's… My symbol," Halm said softly. "I claimed you." Claiming; a god stealing a human away from this world to use however they please.
"You 'claimed' me?? What the hell does that even mean?? Am I your property now??" Cas seemed bewildered and more than a little frustrated with the situation.
"I- well, you see-" Halm stopped, taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry," her said worry, "but… Yes."
Cas groaned and buried his face in his hands. "Where are you gonna take me? Do I have to go anywhere or do I just continue my life on earth as your property?"
"You'll have to come with me," Halm said. "It's the only way others won't try to attack you."
"Attack me?? Where am I going? The spooky soul hole??" Cas sighed and drew his knees up to his chest to bury his face in.
Halm hesitated, but he put this hand lightly on Cas's shoulder.
"It's not that scary," he said quietly. "I truly am sorry about this."
Cas flinched a bit when Halm touched him without warning. "Why do you guys want me, anyways? Like I said earlier, I don't really have any special skills or redeeming qualities or anything…"
Halm took his hand away when Cas flinched.
"Ethal didn't care. She does that to anyone she comes across alone. And I… I didn't want to see you die. Not like that. You would have been destroyed."
Cas sighed. "Probably wouldn't even taste that good… I'm poor as hell, so it's not like I'm eating much. I'm skin and bones at this point and I've probably got all sorts of deficiencies in my blood that would make it taste bad."
Halm at back on his knees, watching Cas carefully.
"Even so," he said softly. What Cas said concerned him. He would have to help with that. The sun was beginning to lower, which meant it was almost time to leave.
"Is there anything you need to grab before we leave?" He said softly.
"Um… if I'm moving permanently, I'll probably need clothes and stuff… and Nix." Cas looked up to see the black cat creeping back over to him, though he made a wide arc around Halm.
Halm nodded softly, watching the cat make it's way around him to Cas.
"Where is your home?" He asked softly.
Cas picked up the cat when it got to him and held him close. "Um… not too far. It's just a cheap apartment near here."
Halm nodded.
"Then we'd best be going there." He loved up again. "It won't be safe for you here after nightfall." He stood, offering his hand to help Cas up.
Cas sighed and allowed Halm to help him up. He was tiny next to the God, only reaching about to Halm's elbow at the most.
"Lead the way," Halm said softly. He let go of Cas's hand once he was up, ready to follow him. Halm was much more docile then the stories made him out to be.
Cas nodded and started walking through the forest, back the way he'd come. He was kind of in shock and still wasn't fully processing the situation.
Halm followed silently, blending into the shadows even though he didn't mean to. When they got to the edge of the forest, he stopped.
"I can't go any further like this," he said softly.
"What do you mean?" Cas looked up at Halm, confused. "Aren't people gonna attack me or something if you're not with me?"
"I didn't say I wasn't coming with you," Halm corrected gently. "I just can't go like this." Halm knelt down next to Cas, touching his chest lightly.
"You'll have to carry me from here," he said. "Just know I have to stay right here the entire time." With a little flash, Halm was gone. Now, a pale white gem hung from a chain on Cas's neck. The metal work around it was pitch black.
"I'm still just me." Halm's voice came from the gem.
Cas seemed incredibly uneasy at this. Clearly this gem had some weird powers and he didn't trust it in the slightest. After a couple seconds of hesitation, he just started walking again.
Halm felt bad for making Cas uneasy, but this was the only way.
"Please, hurry," he said softly to Cas. It was almost sunset.
"I'm going, I'm going. I've got little legs, alright?" Cas huffed indignantly and picked up the pace a bit. Soon enough, he reached his apartment complex and went inside.
Cas really did go a lot slower than Halm was used to. He waited until they were in Cas's apartment, then turned back to his normal form.
