"I'll try and walk…" Rowan got to his feet unsteadily and stretched a bit, yawning and sighing.
"I'll try and walk…" Rowan got to his feet unsteadily and stretched a bit, yawning and sighing.
Matthew moved to stand as well, offering his hands to Rowan for if he needed a bit of help.
Rowan took Matthew's hand and headed over to the fire, where his mother was fixing breakfast.
Good morning ma'am!" Matthew smiled, holding Rowan's hand with a gentle squeeze.
"Good morning, boys. I toasted the bread a bit to give us some excitement in our food." She smiled softly and held the bread out to them.
"Ah, thank you ma'am." Matthew smiled as he took his bread, offering Rowan's to him.
Rowan accepted the bread with a soft thanks and started quietly eating, sitting down to relax while he ate.
Matthew sat with Rowan as well, eating quietly. He was happy with how things were, smiling.
Rowan soon finished his breakfast and got back to his feet, stretching a bit.
Matthew raised as well, working on cleaning up the camp with a hum.
Rowan's mother helped him out, and Rowan got himself prepared for the journey, drinking some water.
Matthew held the bag in one arm when they were ready, the other holding the nest with the sleeping chicks.
Rowan started walking alongside Matthew, occasionally glancing up to make sure the chicks were doing alright.
The chicks were still asleep for the most part, Tammy occasionally shifting around like she was waking up before stilling again. Matthew kept a close eye on Rowan in turn, making sure he didn't push himself.
Rowan seemed to be doing alright at first, walking at an idle pace besides Matthew. After about forty five minutes, he was slower and seemed a bit tired.
Matthew paused when he saw Rowan slowing, moving to very gently pick him up. The avian offered an encouraging smile, kissing Rowan's head.
"You did better today, dear…"
"Mm…" Rowan rested his head against Matthew's chest, taking the opportunity to catch his breath. "T-Thanks…"
Matthew moved to kiss Rowan's head, holding him close.
"You're welcome, dear…" He smiled softly, holding the nest to his chest as well.
Rowan closed his eyes and relaxed, although he stayed awake for the time being. "How many more days?" He asked softly.
"Four days," Matthew said. "How does that sound?" The avian smiled at his lover, kissing him lightly.
"Mmm… not great, but better than I was expecting." Rowan yawned a bit and huddled closer.
"Mm," Matthew said, smiling a bit. "We've made a lot of progress. Thank you, for doing this with me." Going with the deal. It really did help when they weren't stopped to fight over this.
"Mhmm…" Rowan sighed and glanced around from Matthew's arms. His mother kept quietly walking beside the two of them. "Where did the horses go, anyway?"
"They headed back to the village," Matthew noted, keeping an eye on where he walked. "It's discouraged to ride horses in cities, since there is so much foot traffic, to keep people safe."
"I guess that makes sense… we're out here in the wild, though. I'm sure they'd be allowed out here."
