"Alright. We'll make sure he eats more when he wakes up, then. We don't want him to lose too much weight."
"Alright. We'll make sure he eats more when he wakes up, then. We don't want him to lose too much weight."
"Right." Matthew laid Rowan down in his lap, his wings laying around the human.
"I'm sure he'll get through this, but it'll take longer if we don't help him take care of himself."
"Exactly. I just wish he could see it that way, too." Matthew shook his head. He pulled out some food from the bag, offering it to the woman.
"He's stubborn, though, and he thinks pushing himself will make him feel better." She shrugged a bit and accepted the food.
"It really does worry me…" Matthew shook his head as he held his own food.
"Yeah. He'll be alright in time, though. Might just need to get knocked down a peg so he'll let us help."
"Mm…" Matthew looked own at Rowan, lightly brushing his hair out of his eyes.
Rowan stirred a bit at the gentle touch, but didn't wake. His mother started quietly eating. "We're gonna be fine."
"We will." Matthew let his hand rest gently on Rowan's head, glad he hadn't awoken.
"Even Rowan, stubborn as he is. When do you want to get going again?"
"Well, I was hoping quickly. We can't push ourselves either, though." Matthew took a bite of his food, sighing softly.
She nodded a bit. "Alright. I'm fine to go whenever."
Matthew took his time eating, then stood, holding Rowan in his arms again and offering one hand to help the woman up.
She took his hand and got up with a soft sigh. "Let's head out again, then. Let's see how far we can get before Sundown."
"Yes, let's." Matthew turned to start walking again, patting Rowan's back lightly as they moved on.
"Hopefully, far."
"Hopefully, yes." She started walking alongside Matthew, keeping quiet for a while.
Matthew was quiet as well, looking up.
"Would you like to fly, sometime?" He said suddenly.
"Fly?" She asked curiously. "Well, I suppose. I'm not afraid of heights like Rowan."
Matthew nodded.
"That sounds fun, then. We can do it next time we stop to rest."
She nodded a bit as well. "Or, if you can carry both of us at the same time, it could be a quicker way to travel while he's asleep."
"I could, but I'm worried Rowan would wake up mid-flight," Matthew admitted. "Not to mention the dog and Fluff…"
"True. It would be easier if you didn't have to worry about carrying so much, and if Rowan wasn't afraid of heights…" She sighed softly.
"Many things in life would be easier if only one or two things were different. But we must work with what we have, and it's okay if we can't fly." Matthew offered a small smile.
She nodded a bit. "That's true. And you guys don't have cars here, correct?" She asked.
