"I'm sure, ma'am," Matthew said softly. "Some of this world's best healers are here. He's okay…" Matthew looked down at Rowan in his arms, holding him close. He'd been so terrified…
Rowan huddled closer to Matthew in his unconsciousness, pale and drained of energy. It seemed like he'd be sleeping for a pretty long time.
Matthew looked down at Rowan, holding him close a moment more. Still, he moved over to the nest bed, sitting down with Rowan and shifting to lay Rowan and the chicks down without Matthew joining them. The chicks were out of the nest, on Rowan's chest and chirping and whining in concern.
"D-daddy..?" Tammy said softly.
Rowan stirred a bit at the chick's voice, but didn't wake up. He was exhausted, and his heart had slowed a lot from its quick pace before. He still seemed troubled, but was at least stable.
"Let's let Daddy rest for now, okay sweetie?" Matthew said softly to Tammy. The avian ran his fingers through Rowan's hair, making sure he was situated comfortably in the bed.
(ooh this sounds sooooo good so im stalking. maybe we could do a rp together?)
Rowan whined softly as he stirred, but soon managed to settle back down again on the bed. He didn't plan on waking up for a long enough time that it would probably warrant a time skip.
Matthew's writer had to agree, so he laid down to sleep with Rowan and the chicks. In the morning, Matthew found himself cuddled with Rowan, the chicks doing the same and tucked securely between the two for warmth.
Rowan was still dead asleep in the morning, tangled up in Matthew's arms. He seemed a bit more comfortable and stable now, but still drained and uneasy.
Matthew let out a small breath when he saw Rowan was doing somewhat better, sitting up with the man in his arms. He wasn't going to wake Rowan yet, but he didn't want to set him down either.
It took Rowan roughly another forty five minutes to awaken, and he yawned when he did. "Mmmm… Matthew…?" He asked tiredly.
"I'm right here," Matthew said, voice soft. He ran his fingers through Rowan's hair, holding him close.
"How are you feeling..?"
"M'alright, I think… I'm still really drained and I just… I dunno… I'm not great, but I could be a lot worse." Rowan laughed weakly.
Matthew nodded, arms going back around Rowan's waist.
"We can visit the healer again to see if there's anything more that can help."
Rowan nodded weakly and huddled up against Matthew. His mother soon came rushing over to make sure Rowan was okay. "Oh, thank god you're alright… I thought you were a goner." "I'm alright, mom…"
Matthew offered a small smile to Rowan's mother, still holding Rowan to himself.
"I'm glad we got to the healer in time," The avian admitted. "I thought so too…"
Rowan nodded a bit. "Yeah… sorry for scaring you guys, but… I can take a snake bite. The chicks… the chicks couldn't. I'm willing to take it in order to protect them."
(Bump)
"Yeah… You're a really good father to them," Matthew said. "Let's make sure we don't have any more danger like that, though. It's very worrying."
"Thanks, Matthew… I'll try my best. It's not exactly fun on my end either." He laughed weakly and huddled a bit closer.
"I'm sure it's not." Matthew held Rowan close, resting his head lightly against the human's head.
"Hopefully there's not a lot of other dangerous stuff here, anyway… you said it was pretty safe, after all…" Rowan sighed softly.
"It is, usually, that I am sure of. Things will be better when we get back home." Worried for Rowan still, Matthew held the small man in his arms, wings curling around them both slightly.
Rowan nodded a bit and huddled up in Matthew's embrace. "I'm just glad everyone's okay… it shouldn't take me too long to recover."
"I am too. And it shouldn't at all, with all of us helping out." Speaking of the chicks, it wasn't long at all after this that Tammy was finding her way to Rowan's chest, grabbing onto his shirt and refusing to let go.
