"Mhmm." Rowan gently pet the chicks and sighed softly. "I'm glad we found them. It's nice to have them around."
"Mhmm." Rowan gently pet the chicks and sighed softly. "I'm glad we found them. It's nice to have them around."
"I'm glad too." And glad they didn't eat the eggs for breakfast. That was… well, Matthew couldn't think about how that was almost the chicks' fates.
Rowan yawned a bit and huddled closer to Matthew, closing his eyes again. "I wish I wasn't so tired all the time…"
"Well, it'll help you get better," Matthew said softly. He hugged Rowan to himself some, running his fingers through the man's hair.
"Yeah, I guess so…" Rowan leaned into Matthew's gentle touch, content to let the other pet him for a while.
Matthew hummed softly, chuckling faintly. Rowan was a bit like a big cat, always snuggling and napping. Reminded Matthew of one of the predators he knew.
Rowan looked up at Matthew sleepily before closing his eyes. "Mm… how long will it take to get all of this out of my system…?"
"Hopefully, just a couple minutes," Matthew said. He hummed again, fingers playing with Rowan's hair gently.
"What do you mean…?" Rowan asked softly. "Surely it'll take longer than that to feel better…"
"That's why I said hopefully," Matthew pointed out. "It's unlikely, but it could technically happen!"
"I guess…" Rowan shrugged a bit and huddled a bit closer. "Maybe you guys heal faster than I do…"
"Maybe…" Matthew fell quiet a moment.
"In all seriousness, I'm sure it'll only be a day or two."
"I hope you're right…" Rowan yawned again, keeping his eyes closed. It wasn't long until he drifted off to sleep.
Matthew looked down, smiling softly when he saw Rowan asleep.
"Rest well…"
(Time skip?)
(Sure, you can choose to when)
(Alrighty)
A couple of days later, Rowan still wasn't 100% better, but he claimed that he was feeling well enough to travel. He was drowsy and woozy whenever he stood up, but he at least wasn't in pain.
Matthew wasn't so sure Rowan was fit to travel, especially considering they didn't have the horses this time around.
"You'll at least let me carry you, yeah?" Matthew asked, packing p.
"If you insist…" Rowan sighed softly. "You really don't have to, though. I'm sure I'll be fine. I'll feel better once I get moving anyway."
"Well, I do insist. I'm still a bit worried." Matthew finished up with his bag, moving over to Rowan's side.
"Fine, fine…" Rowan looked up at Matthew after he'd finished packing up his own things. "Ready to go?"
"Yeup." He'd helped Rowan's mother get all of her things she wanted to keep condensed down some more into a single bag, so it wouldn't be hard for her to carry. Matthew had the rest in his own bag. He bent down, scooping Rowan up into his arms.
"Ready to go, ma'am?"
"Of course." Rowan's mother smiled gently, and Rowan flushed a bit when Matthew picked him up. "I'm ready to go whenever you're ready."
"Alright then. Are the chicks ready Rowan?" Matthew looked down, holding the man securely to his chest.
"Mhmm. I've got them in the nest." Rowan carefully held the nest with the sleeping chicks in it.
