"Hi, baby… I'm okay." Rowan gently pet Tammy's head and sighed softly. "We're all gonna be okay. The snake didn't hurt you or your brothers, did it?"
"Hi, baby… I'm okay." Rowan gently pet Tammy's head and sighed softly. "We're all gonna be okay. The snake didn't hurt you or your brothers, did it?"
Tammy shook her head at the question, burying her face in Rowan's shirt more.
"Daddy…"
"I know, baby… it's okay…" Rowan brought Tammy closer to himself so she would feel more secure. "I've got you. I won't let anything hurt you."
Tammy nodded some, finally pulling out of his shirt enough to lean into his hands. She looked up at him with wide eyes, holding onto his finger.
"See? You're okay." Rowan smiled gently, letting Tammy hold onto his finger. "Are you hungry?" He asked.
Tammy nodded, looking up at Rowan. Not that he didn't seem as sad, she pointed needily to her mouth, letting out a chirp.
"Matthew, would you mind grabbing the worms?" Rowan asked, gently petting Tammy's head with his thumb.
"Sure thing." Matthew shifted in the nest, reaching over to grab the bag. By now, Timmy and Tommy were stirring as well, so Matthew lifted their nest over as well.
Tammy leaned into the petting, cooing softly with pleasure.
Rowan carefully opened the bag of worms and held it out to Tammy. "Here you go. Make sure you share with your brothers."
Tammy lit up, reaching in and grabbing a worm. She chirped, taking a big bite of it.
"Good girl… Timmy! Tommy!" Rowan called out softly. "Breakfast time!"
Timmy yawned, making his way over. He took a worm in his hands, nibbling. Tommy followed, looking up at Rowan with a sweet smile.
Rowan smiled gently and pet the chicks when they came over. "You guys are okay too, right?" He asked softly.
The two boys nodded, with Timmy going to sit with Tammy. Tommy followed after, the three chicks ending up in a pile.
Rowan lay his head back on the pillows and closed his eyes with a soft sigh, allowing the chicks to eat as much as they pleased.
Matthew couldn't help but smile softly. He leaned over to Rowan, snuggling next to him. He looked up at his friend's mother, blushing some.
Rowan's mother smiled gently as she saw the two of them. "I'll go see about getting some groceries. You two behave." She said playfully as she headed out the door. "Bye, mom…"
"Alright, ma'am," Matthew said. He smiled softly, looking to Rowan again. He looked to Rowan once she left, humming.
Rowan huddled close to Matthew and sighed softly. "I'm sure everything will settle down soon, yeah?"
"Mhm," Matthew said softly. "Especially once we get back home." Matthew rested his head on Rowan's, smiling.
"That's good…" Rowan gently kissed Matthew's cheek and closed his eyes, obviously pretty tired.
Matthew kissed the top of Rowan's head in turn, still blushing softly from the action. The chicks were playing among themselves, on Rowan's chest.
"When are we gonna try and head back?" Rowan asked softly. "Once I'm 100% again?"
"Well, I was hoping we'd be able to do that," Matthew said. "Or, if you think it'll take too much time, we could head back as soon as you feel good enough to travel." Matthew wrapped his arms around Rowan, his hand slipping into the man's.
"Right… I've never been bitten by a snake before, so I can't say for sure how long it'll take me to recover. Hopefully it won't be more than a week or two…"
