Rowan nodded a bit with another soft hum. "I hope you're right… and you think they'll be able to get me there and then back again with my mom and dog?"
Rowan nodded a bit with another soft hum. "I hope you're right… and you think they'll be able to get me there and then back again with my mom and dog?"
"Yes, I do." Matthew smiled softly. "It'll be nice, you and your family staying here." He leaned his head on Rowan's again a moment.
"Mhmm! And I either don't have any extended family or I'm just not in touch with them, so we don't have to worry about that…"
"Okay then! Perhaps the village can become you're extended family." Matthew smiled a bit.
"I hope so! I'm excited to meet other people in the village. You said that they're really nice." Rowan smiled gently.
"They are! I'm cousin's with the baker, and she's a really nice woman. Then there's the blacksmith, too. The counsel members can seem… withdrawn, but off duty they're all pretty nice." Matthew thought a moment, smiling.
Rowan nodded a bit as he listened. "That sounds nice… my mom likes to bake too. She might make some stuff for my coffee shop. How could I get stuff for coffee here?"
Matthew thought a moment.
"I'm not sure…" He tilted his head a bit. "Perhaps we'll be able to find the ingredients here?"
"Maybe? Hopefully they're not too expensive… I don't know what currency you guys use here and I don't have a ton of money on me."
"We mostly use coins," Matthew said. "Copper, silver, gold for the expensive things. What do you use in your world?"
"Uh… well, in America we use dollar bills and coins…" Rowan pulled his wallet out of his pocket. "Here. You can look through this."
Matthew accepted the wallet. He looked in it, curious.
"Paper..?" he asked, looking at Rowan.
"Yeah, kinda. See the numbers at the top?" Rowan pointed to them. "Those say what they're worth. And the coins are worth different amounts too…"
"Oh…" Matthew nodded a bit. "Okay then!" He smiled at Rowan.
"Mhmm! They use different currencies in different countries, but this is what we use in America."
"Okay then! Here there's only really one kind of money." Matthew smiled.
Rowan nodded a bit. "Yeah… it's probably simpler, honestly. America is kind of a mess as a whole."
"From what I've heard, I must agree." Matthew sighed softly. "Things in general are very simple in this world."
"Mhmm." Rowan huddled a little closer to Matthew. "I'm hoping that I can actually move here… I think it'd be nicer."
"I think it will be too. And… while you're house is being built, you and your mother can stay with me," Matthew offered. "If it takes more than a day, of course. You wouldn't really need to if that was the case…" Still, Matthew would enjoy Rowan staying with him, even just for a bit.
"Really? You'd be willing to do that for us?" Rowan asked, flushing lightly. "That's so nice! Thank you, Matthew!" He grinned.
"Of course I'd be willing to!" Matthew grinned back. "I'd love to provide for you."
"Thank you… it really means a lot, Matthew." Rowan softened a bit and huddled closer. "How long do you think it'll take for our place to be built? Does it have to be up in the air like yours are…?"
"It's gonna be down on the ground, since you can't fly and are afraid of heights. It can take anywhere from a single day to a few weeks." Matthew smiled gently.
"Alright, sounds good to me…" Rowan sighed softly in relief. "I'm sure my mom will be okay with it. She's super adaptable and stuff…"
