Oci glanced over at Marco, then looked back out the window. He wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, but when his eye caught on the figure of a woman with pale blonde hair, he swore and set down his glass. "How the Ed did she find me?"
Marco looked up, worry on his face, "Oci?" he asked worriedly, swallowing his bite of sandwhich.
"Gods! Why right now?" Oci jumped off the counter. "It's Harina Black. She was the leader of another gang, until I destroyed it. I should have destroyed her too, apparently, but I'm too nice." He shrugged and started towards the front of the house. "Just… Stay quiet, and maybe she'll think no one's home?" Oci arrived at the front door and peeked outside through a small window in the door.
Marco nodded, instinctively hiding his sandwhich and then shifting into a cat again.
"Oci!" Someone banged on the door, which made Oci jump away. "Open the Edding door, I know you're in there!" Oci winced and pulled a knife out. If he didn't open the door, she would probably knock it down and make everything so much harder for him.
"Fine, stop trying to break down the door!" Oci yelled, unlocking the door and pulling it open, keeping his knife at the ready.
Marco flinched, not sure if he should help or not, as he darted out into the hall, hoping to appear as if he were a normal alley cat.
Standing in the doorway was a pale woman with a long scar running from the right side of her forehead to under her left eye. Her platinum blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and her grey eyes were bright with anger.
"What do you want?" Oci asked, keeping himself between Harina and the rest of the house. "How did you find me?"
"Did you really kill the king?" Harina asked, glancing up and down the road.
"Um…" Oci looked back, noticing Marco behind him, but moving his vision on so Harina wouldn't notice.
Marco tensed but did his best to resemble a normal alley cat, moving into the next room with a territorial stride.
"You did, didn't you?" Harina laughed. "Now, let me in before I alert all the guards in the area where the famous Ocean Kage is." She sneered at Oci, who bit back an insult and stepped out of the way. Harina sauntered in, looking very pleased with herself. "You're not so scary without all your henchpeople, now are you?"
"Why are you here?" Oci asked, closing the door and stepping around her so she couldn't move any further into the house.
"Oh, well, I heard you killed the king, so I wanted to make sure. I also heard a rumor that you didn't do it alone. Someone else helped you. A shifter." She glanced around, as if 'a shifter' was going to pop out from one of the walls.
Marco tensed, shifting into a mouse and hiding under some furniture outside of the hallway, listening carefully.
"A shifter?" Oci asked, trying to keep his voice level. Normally, it wouldn't have been an issue, but… anytime Marco was brought up, he turned into a fool. "No, it was just me."
"Hmm." Harina looked around again, then shrugged. "I guess. Mind if I stay over for breakfast?"
"Yes. Go away." Oci glared at her, not wanting her around long enough to find Marco, wherever he was.
"Hah, fine. See you later, king-killer!" Harina laughed and opened the door, shooting Oci one last look before leaving. Oci quickly shut the door and locked it, letting out a huge breath he had been holding in.
Marco waited several minutes before finally coming out, "I suppose we have problems now huh.."
"Hmm. If you mean Harina, yes. If you mean the fact that the entire city is out to get us… Also, yes." Oci groaned and rubbed his forehead. "I really need to keep her away from you. It wouldn't be good if she knew you were here." He leaned against the door, wondering who had told Harina where his hideout was.
Marco nodded, "I'll shift next time she comes back, something small.. and hide.."
"Alright. I'm sorry about it, by the way." Oci smiled sadly at Marco and started moving towards the kitchen again. "She's annoying, but I can't do anything to her unless she attacks me first, so…" He shrugged and grabbed his glass of water, draining the rest of it in one sip. "Do you have anything you want to do today?"
"Not really.." said Marco softly in answer to the question, "I mean, there's not much we can do right now anyway.."
"Yeah, that's true." Oci sighed and set his glass down on the counter. "Well, I have some stuff to read. If you want to read or anything, there's a bookcase in the living room." He stood there for a little longer, looking as if he wanted to say something else, then started back towards a small room off the living room that might have been an office.
(Do you have any ideas of stuff to throw at these two poor children?)
(I'm not sure honestly… uhmm… Maybe we should pause and brainstorm? Also I'm thinking we should maybe timeskip a week or so so we can actually do stuff with them.)
(Yeah, that would probably be a good idea (to both things you said). Do we want to do the brainstorming here, or somewhere else?)
(We can do it here, I was thinking maybe look up some couples tropes we can adapt into the storyline?)
(Yeah, that would work. Do you have any in mind right now?)
(Unfortunately no.. did you have anything?)
(No… also, unfortunately.)
Oof… Time to look on pinterest I guess…)
(Yep. If I see any I like, I'll put them in here for you to think about also, yeah?)
