Even though Marco was such an interesting, cute, wonderful person to think about, Oci's mind kept sliding back to reality. What if the guards followed them all the way back to the safehouse and arrested them before they could disappear? What if Marco got hurt as well? Then they would be sitting ducks, wouldn't they? Oci bit his lip and blinked a few times. It couldn't be much farther, could it?
Marco eventually stopped by a stream, waiting for the other to slip oo so he could attempt to care for the arrow.
Oci tried to get off of Marco's back gracefully, but he ended up basically sliding off of his back and falling to his knees in the soft moss lining the stream. "Hmm. It's pretty here." He noted, before collapsing onto his side, barely missing tumbling into the water.
Marco flinched, shifting back and pulling him away from the water, before stripping off his jacket, then his shirt, using the shirt to try and stop the bleeding ater breaking the arrow shaft, feeling nauseous as he worked, the smell of blood making him feel sick.
Oci was pretty out of it. He wasn't all the way unconscious, but he definitely wasn't totally in that world. He was slightly aware of someone moving around him, and doing something… "Ah!" Oci gasped when the arrow came out, the sudden pain snapping him awake.
Marco winced when the other cried out, putting pressure on the ound to try and stop the bleeding. "Sorry…" he murmured, hiseyes filled with worry.
"No, you're good," Oci said, his voice tight. "Is it too bad?" He took a few shallow breaths and tried to calm down. It wouldn't do any good if he was freaking out. Which he wasn't, exactly, but still.
"I.. I don't know.." said Marco nervously, trying to staunch the blood flow, carefully pulling the shirt away slightly when it had slowed.
"Hmm… Do you think you can make some sort of temporary bandage? Just to last until we get to my safe house." Oci asked, his voice still strained. "The guards might still be looking for us, and I want to get into the city before they really lock it down."
Marco nodded, "Yeah.. yeah I'll try.." he said softly, moving to tie a bandage around the other's shoulder, before kneeling in front of him.
Oci waited until Marco had finished tying the bandage on before moving into a more comfortable position. "Thank you for that." He gave Marco a real smile and looked down at his chest. "Oh. Where's my shirt and jacket? Are they covered in blood?"
"Yeah, kinda…" said Marco softly, "I saved your jacket though, it's got a hole in it, but it'll hide the wound."
"Okay." Oci nodded slightly. "Well, at least we won't look as suspicious as if we'd just walked in covered in blood." He took a deep breath and got to his feet as slowly as he could. He was slightly dizzy, but not too bad. "Can I have the jacket?"
Marco nodded, picking it up for him, "You okay to walk?" he asked softly.
"Yeah. It's not a long way to the city from here anyways." Oci accepted the jacket and put it on, careful not to disturb the bandage Marco had tied over his wound. "I think I'll be good. If I start to fall, though… can you catch me?" He looked over at Marco with a small smile on his face and tied the jacket closed, so someone couldn't see the bandages.
"Yeah of course." said Marco softly, watching him worriedly, as he looked out into the woods again. "Shall e move out then?"
"Thanks." Oci nodded. "Yeah." He started walking towards the city, which really was about five minutes away from where they had stopped. As he neared the entrance to the city, Oci noticed that there were more guards posted there than normal. They also appeared to be searching everything and asking to see identification. "Well… that's not good."
Marco sighed, biting his lip, "No.. no it isn't…" he said softly, wondering how they would get through.
Oci glanced over at Marco. "Well… I know another way in. It's a bit of a longer walk, but there won't be that many guards there. At least, I hope." He turned and started walking along the wall towards a smaller entrance.
Marco followed him quickly, hoping they'd be able to get in.
The smaller entrance was guarded by only one person, and she didn't seem to care that Oci was walking towards her. He put his hand into his pocket and drew out a few coins, pressing them into her hand as he passed. The streets beyond the entrance were busy, but most with regular people, not guards.
Marco breathed a sigh of relief once they'd passed, giving Oci a small smile.
Oci smiled back at Marco and led the way down the streets, stopping in front of a run-down brick building. The windows were covered in wood slates, and it looked really sketchy. After glancing up and down the street, Oci reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He unlocked the door and ushered Marco into the house before closing the door behind him.
Marco followed him inside quickly, smiling a little, "So what do we do about that wound?" he asked.
"Well, I think there should be some medical supplies somewhere in here," Oci said. "You could help me, or I could call someone else if you don't want to. Which is totally fine, by the way. Don't feel pressured." He gave Marco a reassuring smile and started towards the kitchen, where he kept the medical supplies.
