"I.. I think I can help…" said Marco, "I might need a little direction though.."
"I.. I think I can help…" said Marco, "I might need a little direction though.."
"Alright. I'll call Karia anyways, and he can show you in case you ever need to do it again. I hope not, but you never know." Oci grabbed the case full of supplies and set it on the table, then reached into his pocket again and pulled out a small silver orb. He tapped it once and nodded. "He'll be here soon."
Marco nodded, feeling a little useless, "Yeah… sorry.." he said softly, watching him quietly.
"No, you're good." Oci sat down at the table and started undoing the buttons on his jacket. A few minutes after Oci had called, the sounds of a door unlocking reached them. A young man with shoulder-length real hair walked in, looking concerned.
"Oci, what did you do?"
"Arrow. Karia, this is Marco. Marco, Karia."
Marco nodded shyly, sticking to the corner where he'd placed himself.
"So… what am I doing here?" Karia asked, his honey-colored eyes flitting between Oci and Marco.
"You're fixing me up, and showing him how to do it," Oci answered, sliding off the jacket and hanging it over the back of the chair.
"Oh, right. Marco, want to come over here? I don't bite." Karia smiled warmly at Marco and opened the box full of medical supplies.
Marco nodded quietly pushing himself off the wall, having gotten quieter than usual.
"Okay, so first what you want to do is…" Karia started, pulling the necessary supplies out of the box. He undid the bandages, cleaned the wound, applied some sort of salve to it, and rebandaged the wound, all the while providing commentary to Marco on the best ways to do it. Oci simply sat there, wincing when Karia cleaned the wound, but overall he was quite calm. "Did you get everything?" Karia asked, looking at Marco expectantly.
Marco nodded quietly, not seeming to be too overly confused, just shy.
"He doesn't talk too much, does he?" Karia asked, patting Oci on the unwounded shoulder and packing up the supplies. "Well, will I see you tomorrow?"
"Maybe." Oci shrugged and stood up. "Thanks again." Karia nodded and walked out of the room. As soon as the door clicked shut, Oci looked towards Marco. "What will we do now?"
Marco hummed softly, "Lay low for awhile?" he asked softly.
"Probably a good idea." Oci nodded and started out of the kitchen. "I'm going to go get some clean clothes on. You can make yourself at home, if you want." He offered Marco a small smile and left the room.
Marco nodded, tempted to just leave and try to make it on his own as an alley cat for awhile, but he knew the other would probably be offended by that, so he cautiously wandered into the next room to explore a little.
Oci headed to the room where he kept most of his 'just in case' stuff. After sifting through the clothes in the room, he found a good shirt and changed his pants. He ran a hand through his hair as he stared at himself in the mirror. What in the world were they going to do now? And would Marco even want to stay with him? Oci hoped that he would, but he wouldn't make Marco stay. If he wanted to leave, he could. But every time he thought about Marco leaving, Oci's heart stung a little. Oh, curse him, why had he gotten attached? It would only lead to him getting hurt.
Marco let himself shift again, back into the more comfortable form of a skinny tomcat, exploring the various furniture in the few rooms he could get to before choosing a sofa in the main room, hoping u on it and curling into a corner to think, trying to process his emotions. The happiness and deep loss, and closure he felt from finding the note in the cave, the anger, hatred, and emptiness from killing the king, and the possible affection he had for Oci?
Oci laughed a little and turned away from the mirror. Thinking about all this stuff was only going to drive him mad, nothing more. To distract himself, Oci chose a few small knives to keep on his person, then hurried out of the room. He was getting a bit hungry and hoped that the safe house still had some food in the kitchen. He crashed around in the kitchen for a bit, finally coming up with some pears that hadn't died yet. "Ugh, gotta get some food later," Oci muttered to himself, hopping up on the counter and taking a bite.
Marco curled further in on himself, making it look like the couch had a bruise of some sort as he thought, having trouble sorting himself out as he thought about where his family might have ended up, how he felt about having Oci around, what he might do with himself.
Oci glanced into the main room, doing a double-take when he spotted the cat on the couch. Either it was Marco, or Marco had left and let in some random cat instead. Nah, it was probably Marco. Oci considered going over to him and start talking about the future, but he decided against it. He would let Marco be on his own for as long as he needed, or at least for as long as he could.
Marco sighed softly, though it sounded more like a huff, and got up stretching as he hopped down off the couch, padding into the kitchen to see if Oci had come back.
Oci was still sitting on the counter, slowly eating his pear and thinking. He wasn't thinking about anything, in particular, just… thinking. His legs were swinging ever so slightly, and his injured arm was placed carefully in his lap. He didn't notice Marco walking into the kitchen.
Marco looked up at him for a moment, his eyes a bit dull as he realized why he came in here. hopping up onto the counter he pressed against the other's thigh, wanting comfort.
Oci looked down in surprise, a smile creeping along his lips when he realized who it was. He finished off his pear and set the core down, then reached down and started petting Marco. He didn't know if it was the right thing to do, but Marco would surely tell him to stop if he wanted him to.
Marco pressed into him a little more, realizing he was surprisingly tense as the other started petting him.
"Are you doing okay?" Oci asked softly, continuing to pet Marco. He knew Marco couldn't answer unless he shifted back, but he could probably give Oci a non-verbal answer. "If you want to take a shower or change your clothes, feel free to."
Marco mewled softly, burying his head between his body and the other's thigh, no… No I'm not….
