Davin shrugged. "Just some water is fine, thanks." he smiled a little, looking up at Tohru.
Davin shrugged. "Just some water is fine, thanks." he smiled a little, looking up at Tohru.
Tohru smiled, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow. Intimidating others kind of stressed him out. After all, he definitely didn't look the type to beat the daylights out of someone, even though he absolutely could and would.
"Got it."
Tohru turned around and poured Davin a glass of water, then set it in front of him.
"God, I hate some of these guys. They have the nerve to be regulars too, apparently."
Davin grimaced. "Gross." He tried, taking a sip of the water. "Guys like that are the worst."
"Yeah, it’s disgusting. It's a good thing I'm around to set people straight. I really don't care if we lose customers. I'm a little more concerned about my friends' safety," Tohru admitted.
He nodded a little. "Of course." He agreed. "Safety over customers."
"Not sure what out manager would have to say," Tohru admitted, "but I'm sure he's not keen on losing more employees. I wouldn't blame her if she quit."
He nodded a little. "Yeah. That sucks." he didn't really know what else to say; it wasn't like he knew anyone else here personally.
"It does… I'm sure it does," Tohru agreed, "Anyway, I'm going to just be back here mixing some drinks. I'm totally free to talk still."
He laughed a little. "I'd hate to monopolize your time, Tohru, especially at your job."
"Well, I have to be over here anyway," Tohru replied, "Besides, I'm kind of worn out talking to the customers. It's always refreshing talking to you instead."
Davin smiled, stretching for a moment. "Mm, alright then." He thought for a moment. "What did Vex mean when he said it was nice to meet me finally?"
Tohru almost dropped what he was holding, but he collected himself quickly.
"Oh, I don't know. I definitely mentioned you when I came in early," Tohru replied, trying to cover himself.
It seemed reasonable enough, right? Explaining himself, since he'd arrived early?
"So that's probably it."
He was quiet for a moment, then nodded. He didn't quite believe Tohru, but he didn't question him about it. "Of course."
"Yeah, and I'm sure I mentioned living with a roommate at some other point," Tohru added, though at this point, he was probably overcompensating and should have stopped talking.
Davin nodded again, a faint smile tugging at his mouth. "I'm sure you did."
'I'm sure you did?' What did he mean by that? Am I… am I that obvious? Tohru thought frantically.
Tohru gave a little shrug and went back to mixing drinks, a bit of color rising into his face. He did his best to smile back.
Davin closed his eyes , rubbing his face with his hands.
"Is everything alright?" Tohru asked, adding salt around the rim of one of the drinks.
He was being so awkward. This was his fault. All his fault…
"Hm? Oh. Yeah, I'm good. Just thinking." he replied, looking up.
"Ah, okay," Tohru said, flashing the other a smile, "Well, um, I'm going to go out and serve these drinks and check on some customers, and I'll be back up here soon."
He nodded a little, watching Tohru go for a moment. What am I doing? He asked himself. What was he doing??
Tohru went around, served those drinks, and checked on the customers. The ones who had been harassing Kira had left, and left a measly tip behind.
Tohru scoffed a bit and handed the cash off to Kira.
"Fucking shitbags," she murmured.
"It's probably my fault for being so rough with them, but I wasn't going to stand for that."
"No, that's okay. I really do appreciate the help. They're the ones to blame."
Tohru smiled slightly.
"Should I walk you home tonight?"
"Yeah, just to the split as usual is fine, thanks."
Tohru gave a nod and went on his way.
Davin watched for a moment, quiet. He hoped Tohru's coworker would be alright.
Tohru went back to the few customers sitting at the bar. While he seemed to be happily chatting with them, he suddenly really just wanted to go home, as he had pretty much reached his social limit for the night.
It would be much better to just hang out with Davin one-on-one, assuming he didn't act all awkward again.
Davin was quiet, sighing faintly as he waited for Tohru to come back over.
