@ElderGod-Icefire

When I was younger, I didn't say the Pledge of Allegiance because I thought it was legally binding, and my little kid brain didn't want that to be the reason I was arrested/punished if I became a traitor to the US

I still have no idea how I arrived at any of these conclusions

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

I write the way I do because I used to casually think I’d better have some unique handwriting so I can defend forgeries of me in court.

Also I don’t say the pledge. I’m not swearing myself to the state.

@ElderGod-Icefire

My view of the Pledge is that it's, like…it's a way of showing respect to everything the flag stands for, not necessarily you swearing yourself to the state

My little-kid brain thought it was illegal to cross the street twice in a row unless you touched the sidewalk on each corner, for whatever reason

I also accidentally stole an ice cream cone once

@HighPockets group

I used to say the Pledge at Catholic school, since we'd do the Pledge and also a little morning prayer, but I stopped in high school. Not out of some moral reason, it was just during study hall and I would always be busy doing work lol.

No no, you don't understand. I, at eight years old, was planning on becoming a traitor to the US. Which to be honest sounds more and more appealing the longer this country keeps going to shit

Just had a random fic idea: Some Karen gets mad at my wlw OTP for 'turning her daughter gay' so ofc, they get spend the rest of their trip at the store being as PDA as possible, then finish it off at the end when they see her in the parking lot by saying 'you can't have those vegan burgers, you're turning my girlfriend vegan'
then they drive away, cackling, as they do

@ElderGod-Icefire

Benedict Arnold whom?

kgjdfbdjh actually Benedict Arnold wasn't a traitor to the US. One, the US didn't fucking exist at that time. Two, he was a citizen of the British Empire. He wasn't a traitor, we just think of him as one because…"'Murica", I guess

Oh, also, the one who's canonically a thief manages to sneakily send Karen's shopping cart halfway down the parking lot by the time the other manages to start the car

I'll link it if I ever get around to writing it, there's not much you need to know about the characters
Also the one who isn't a thief has her birb with her because he is baby and giant ducks don't really work in modern AUs

We're supposed to say it but at this point we just stand while the principal says it over the intercom. I've had like two teachers that say it though, but I think they're less dead and maybe a little more unhinged than the rest of us
