My district has even talked about putting daily prayers into practice, even though we're a public school and are in no way a religious school.

Isn't this…not legal???

I don't think it is legal. But of course, our school board, being very conservative and very white, looked into it. I don't think it'll happen, thank goodness for laws. But it was a discussion for a while.

She says hello. She's being very strange this morning. In fact, all three of them are acting very strangely.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

no sir I'm not chanting my loyalty to some government

This.

Also the people talking about Under God have a point. We aren’t a Christian Nation. That’s part of the religious freedom thing.
And required to say? Pretty sure that’s wrong, like, legally.
As for prayer, a gov agency shouldn’t favor any kind of religion. To have prayer in school you need other like and equal things for every religion held by the students in the school.

@berlioz

The funny thing is, the districts that want to impose school prayer are Christian. Christian prayer isn't structured. There isn't any idea of "daily morning prayer" in the Bible. Christians pray whenever and wherever they want. That's kinda the point. So making an argument of "it's part of my religion, so we should have it in school" is dumb because, it's … not a part of your religion.

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Well to be fair, the Bible barely covered the beginning church. Historically anyways. And the letters don’t mention it, which makes sense. There used to be the prayer s of the hours, but Idk if only those under religious orders did that.
Plus of course the mass is rather structured.

@berlioz

The Bible says to be praying always (1 Thessaloinians 5:17), so no, prayer isn't structured. With the exception of when the Bible says what to pray for, there is no set posture, time, or method.

It’s okay I live in the UP now so it’s all good. Well, better than Ohio, these people are weird about their fudge. I’ve even got the accent for it lmao.

Ooh that's cool! I was just in the UP a week ago (stayed in Ironwood)

Well if you always pray, good for you, but I doubt anyone gets to that level. Maybe I just don’t understand. But the mass definitely had a structure, based off Jesus’ teaching on the road to Emmaus. Plus of course Jesus sets up the way to pray whenever he tells his Apostles the Lord’s Prayer. (Also gotta think that Christianity might sound cool and super interesting to those not in the Jesus fandom.) But ofc the church did set up ways to pray from the beginning. Not that I’m saying unstructured prayer I said wrong or anything.

@Mojack group

From a canadian perspective the pledge is..weird?? Like I grew up singing the national anthem (they really only teach you to sing it the first few years of school at my schools at least then you’re given freedom whether or not you want to sing it. Most of the time it’s just standing up and being silent or at least remaining silent.) but even that’s different because I’m not pledging my allegiance to something.

I never realized how weird the pledge was until I saw a video of it. I always thought it was some sort of minor thing based off of the mentions of it, but man…those videos.
also daily prayers kind of weird too. Like there’s a lot of problems with that.

@murphysgirl

just read a true story about how someone threw eggs at a car but it was actually the local mafia’s car
they cleaned up the car later

Oh dear XD

O.O
I would move to another city

@RedTheLoveless

So I spent a solid 5 hours yesterday cleaning out my drawers and Laundry Chair so I can

  1. Finally have enough space in my drawers for the clothes I actually wear regularly.
  2. Donate my unwanted clothes to the local thrift store.

I got 6 full bags. But now I realize that I still did 5 hours of manual labor, and my lower back is fuckin sore from all the goddamn lifting. I was supposed to do my closet today, but now I'm having second thoughts.

Oh ho ho I have all the Tinker Bell movies. And the Barbie movies.

I actually love Barbie movies. I've been meaning to have a bunch of friends over and just have a Barbie movie marathon, but I never seem to get around to making it actually happen.
Also, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse? One of the best shows ever. "scHlONd POofA!"

Side note: I woke up with one of my favourite love songs stuck in my head and I'm very happy :D

The old Barbie movies are the best. Convince me otherwise.

I love those! Like, the fairy one with the little purple-and-blue monster? (I forget what it's called.) And Barbie and the Diamond Castle? I used to sing Connected with my best friend when I was little.
