The creature is literally just Not As Bad As Victor. That's pretty much it. He sucks too, it's just mostly not his fault
Victor was horrified by what he had created, and tried to fix his mistakes. The Monster chose to kill people. In my opinion, the Monster is worse
Yeah he was horrified and then kept making worse mistakes and fixed nothing, plus he watched someone be killed for something he did and didn't say a fucking thing before anything actually happened, had no forethought that something might go wrong while he was making the creature, abandoned him because he didn't like his eyes, and continued to refuse to believe that the creature would do anything to anyone other than him despite much direct evidence to the contrary. The Creature was abandoned and knew only that, Victor had known pretty much only love his whole fucking life, he had absolutely no excuse.
Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, sure. Had he stepped up and said "look I made a person and they did this, not Justine" he would have been thrown in the madhouse and JUSTINE STILL WOULD HAVE DIED. The Creature doomed her, not Victor
He didn't have to say that. He could have advocated for a further investigation or said "actually I think someone else did it". He didn't have to mention that he made a person. He sat there and watched her be murdered. For something she didn't do and something he damn well could have stopped. A man that figured out how to create life would have had the creative bone needed to come up with something to stop it. But. He. Sat. There. And. Watched. And don't you forget that HE abandoned the Creature, not the other way around. Victor created him and abandoned him. He doomed himself and everyone else because he can't begin to grasp what consequences are and how to be a decent person. But yeah keep simping over him ig
He wasn't even in the country when his brother died. There was nothing he could have done or said. The crowd was out for blood and if he had protested, probably nothing would have happened. And he didn't abandon the creature. He passed out and was bedridden for like,,,, two months, he literally couldn't go anywhere. And hey, I'd rather simp for someone without a good grasp of consequences than a murderer

He killed people like a toddler throwing a tantrum. "Fine, you won't talk to me, I'll destroy the things you love" like a fucking baby. That's what children do. Except with the Creature it's worse, because he knew that life was precious and that death isn't a good thing, and yet he did it anyways

I don't know where all the Victor vs Creature discourse came from but let me say this. Victor and the Creature were BOTH right. Sure, Victor shouldn't have abandoned the Creature, should have tried to save Justine, all that, but he never did anything explicitly malicious and as much as I bully him he did deserve better and most of that was out of his control. The Creature, despite being surprisingly articulate, was frankly emotionally a child, practically a baby only raised on ideas of revenge. He read fucking Paradise Lost I don't think that needs elaboration. The world spat on him, of course he'd wanna fight it. That doesn't make the revenge okay, but I would have done the same in his position and I don't honestly know anyone who wouldn't have. IN HIS POSITION, I'm not saying any regular, well rounded person would but the Creature had serious unadressed trauma and Victor kinda did say fuck you first. Again, this isn't condoning it, just understanding it. Honestly the both of them are highly complicated people and genuinely didn't deserve any of the horrors that befell them, self inflicted or not.
