The First Galactic War was named due to involving a large portion of the galaxy, similar to how the Terrans experienced their World Wars. While some like to blame the Terrans for it, the root cause is widely debated and some say such a large conflict was going to happen anyways because of rising tensions. However, the Terrans still played their part in the escalation of the war.
At the time, the Svire Empire was ruled by one of the largest families, and longest running. While the Svire had several divisions of government varying from region to region, the overall empire was ruled by a Monarch, either the male and female Svire or both. Warrior culture in the Svire was commonplace; they did many things Terrans would see as brutal and unusual. Because of that (and due to propaganda, when the war began) the Terrans had negative views on the Svire (as well as some other races.) The Svire are known to be somewhat xenophobic as well, though they did have close relations to some species, and ruled over smaller, weaker systems.
The secretive Moch were allies of the Terrans at the time. They were also some of the first aliens to show the Terrans new technologies, and begin trade with them, which in turn after some time allowed further routes to open up with new species. It was kind of like, “the Moch, out of all races trade with the humans? I guess they can’t be that bad,” the Moch set an example that many decided to follow.
