Tolkalee looked at the new newcomer with annoyance. The sound was much to loud and had he not kept his panic down he might have ended up hurting someone. Or breaking a table.
Tolkalee looked at the new newcomer with annoyance. The sound was much to loud and had he not kept his panic down he might have ended up hurting someone. Or breaking a table.
T.K looked down at Tolkalee, a frown obvious even with the mask on. "I can sense your itching to panic, do not fear." The smooth voice assured, the tall figure nodding along with it. "Also, if you feel the need to break anything, I will remove you from the premises."
"Thanks for the reassurance," Tolkalee mumbled. "I'm not going to break anything, and I'm not going to panic. That is saved for when I'm alone." He took a sip of water. "Anything else you want to ask or comment about?"
The barkeeper flashed into existence in a long red dress and an old fashioned piston at her side. Her curly hair was matted to her forehead with sweat. “Oh boy, I’ve gotten myself into a mess this time.” She looked around at the customers in the bar. “Sorry about that. I can’t stay for long though. Try to get along for only two more hours. Any second I’ll be called back to-“ She flashed out of existence again and everyone in the bar looked at each other.
She lifted her head as the glass was set before her. The female uttered a soft thanks, wrapping a delicate hand around the glass. From what was seen of skin tone, she was pale. Though other than that, she remained with her arms and legs covered in long sleeves, the cloak winding around the rest of her lithe form.
The female's body seemingly tensed at the sudden appearance of the masked figure. A shiver ran down her spine, but then seemed to disappear. This figure was not human, something which she was glad about. She had her reasons for hating and despising the humans…but that was a story for another time…
S.K shook their head. "She needs to get a better controller for her trips, I'll have to remind her. Maybe she will tell me a story to add." They muttered to themselves, fingers tapping on the bottle they stil held in their hand.
Tolkalee pulled a notebook and pencil out of his satchel, and began writing in it. He pulled his hood, which he realized was still up, down to reveal his yellow blonde hair and pointed ears.
The barkeeper flashed into sight clearly wearing a button up shirt with a pair of suspenders holding up a pair of black pants. Her curls were spilling out of a cap on her head. “Hey everyone!” She said cheerily. Her figure flashed and her strange clothes turned into a simple white tee shirt tucked into a shirt black circle skirt. “Looks like it was fairly quiet while I was gone.” She turned to S.K. “You’re free to go. I’ll get you if I need you again.”
Tolkalee glanced up from what he was writing, but made no comment and went back to writing. He was a good ways into the notebook by this point.
Calix looked up at the really perky new bartender "Could I have another Vodka?" Calix asked her politely.
“Okay time to get the party started again. What are you writing Tolkalee?” The barkeep said as she fiddled with a glass.
Without looking up Tolkalee replied. "I'm writing a book."
The barkeep rested her head in her hands. “Aren’t we all? What is it about?”
"It's the story of a hero back at home," he responded. "One that ended a war that had lasted over fifty years."
"And yes Calix, you can have a vodka." The barkeep said pouring a glass and sliding it down the bar. "I always get 'perky' after going out. Some of those worlds are just so…messily fun. It's like walking through the thoughts of a madman."
She then turned to Tolkalee. "Is that who you aspire to be. The one who saved the world and is written about even 50 years later?"
Tolkalee shook his head. "No this happened only about two years ago. The war that she stopped had been going on for over fifty years. And no, I played a different part in this story, I don't think I could ever aspire to be like her. Not after the things I've done," the last sentence held a hint of sadness in it.
Calix drank his Vodka quietly. He didn't mention or say anything.
The female started to shift uneasily. She seemingly fidgeted with her sleeves. A noise like a soft rumble seemed to emit from her. The hooded figure's head lifted again as she listened to the chatter going on between the bartender and the male who had been in the corner.
As far as she was concerned, it was none of her business. The female would prefer not involving herself with such things, until being certain there was no immediate danger. Past events left her with trust issues, knowing who and what is a friend, and who is a foe. As where there were others who would happily converse with complete strangers, it was not something she would do less necessary.
"That's a shame. I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do about it?"
"No, it happened, and it's done now," Tolkalee sighed. "All we can do now is move forward and hope for something better at the end of the road."
"Well…that got sad real quick. Wanna drink to take off the edge?"
"If only things were that simple," the female spoke in a hushed voice to herself.
If only it were that easy to move forward. It was difficult, when your heart was heavy, and your mind was partially broken. The soft rumble became a sigh under her breath. The female slowly closed her violet eyes, letting darkness take over inside the hood, but slowly the violet orbs appeared again. Whatever emotion she had, was hidden in the hood that covered her head. Her pale hand moved upwards, brushing lightly against her neck, running to her left shoulder. Oh if that horrid day never happened, if only she could forget what had happened years ago…
"Thanks, but I don't drink alcohol," Tolkalee gave the bartender a smile. "I appreciate the offer though. And anyway my life is kind of sad, that's why I work to try and make everyone else's better. In some way. Whether it's just listening, giving advice, or literally fighting for someone."
“It’s okay, most of us are sad until we find what makes us happy. Remind me to take you on one of my outings some time.” The barkeeper sighed and turned to Calix. “Got anything to cheer us up?”
