"I've been in this building several times. I even get occasional jobs here to help the New Republic." Calista nodded. "I know my way around… but if I'm right then I have a general idea of where to go." she admitted, turning down a corner and feeling a deep coldness from further down. "I usually try to avoid this area but I think I know why I do that." she sighed before shaking her head to clear it when Jado made his second comment. "Physical locks shouldn't be a problem for me unless he used beskar, which just seems superfluous." she replied with a slight roll of her eyes. "It's his data files that are more likely to give us trouble… unless you know how to data slice?"
"oh?…" he was slightly interested "And I know a little data slicing not enough to hack anything stupid big but yeah I could hack a data file…" he answered truthfully he wasn't as good as a droid could data slice and kept up "and you never know he could have a beskar lock because he was a sith and knew Jedi couldn't cut it besides experienced Jedi who are one with the force and a very strong connection to it"
Calista nodded, hoping that Jado’s skill would be enough to access the files they were looking for. “I'm… strong enough. I think my Master said that I was stronger than average but… if you mean strong as certain Jedi from before, I'm honestly not sure how many of them could deal with beskar.” she admitted as she fought off a chill of doubt. “But, as I said, I doubt Palpatine was dumb enough to keep his important information on flimsi.” she added with a slight smirk.
he chuckled and his head started to hurt and he just collapsed his helmet falling off and he didn't care trying to disarm himself "run…grab my stuff and just run to his office…lock the door…if I come to the door and ask to be let in don't…..and if i try to be stupid friendly keep me away…" he said in between pants of pain as his chip was activating again
(you good fanfiction?…)
Hawkin had fixed the droid and every limb worked like it was brand new. However, no one knew where it came from, nor what it was made of. Everything in the droid was archaic. From the wiring, to the gyros. However it was simple and straight forward enough. Soon, Hawkin had replaced the delicate wires. He smiled at his handiwork.
“All in a good days work. Let’s see if this thing turns on.”
Hawkin flipped a switch and a light hum of whirring was heard, and the droid turned on. It powered up and looked at him.
“Hello. I’m not where I’m supposed to be. Can you help me get back to my master? What year is it?”
Hawkin looked confused. This droid had a speech pattern far different than any modern droid he’d seen.
“Let me ask you this question first. What year do you think it is?”
The droid turned and with facial expressions, Hawkin could only assume the droid was thinking.
“It is the year 200. It is the time of what I suppose historians will call the high republic of the Jedi. It’s full of creativity and knowledge.”
Hawkin blinked hard.
“Well, I hate to tell ya, but um, I’m sure your master is long gone. They are more than likely dead.”
The droid stopped whirring for a moment.
“What? How would you know?”
Hawkin scratched his head.
“Give me a moment. Please. I’ll explain.”
Hawkin yelled towards the back.
“Hey boss, I got an illegal droid. I gotta take it to the senate building. Early empire. I’ll be back when they finish their questioning again.”
He heard a groan.
“Aight Hawk. Get back soon. Clock out for the day. We both know they’re going to keep you for a while.”
Hawkin looked at the droid and looked at his pay for the day.
“Yeah sure. I got it. Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow. Last time they threw me in a room for the night to question the next morning.”
He heard a laugh from the back.
He said quietly to the droid.
“You’re lucky I’m curious. Normally people just don’t find high republic droids.”
The droid whirred again.
“What do you mean by find?”
Hawkin grabbed his bo rifle and slung it over his shoulder and grabbed his tools.
“Let me make this as painless as possible. Droid, whatever your name is, it’s the year 5ABY. It’s been over 200 years since you’ve been awake. We’ve gotta go to the senate building. There’s a lot going on.”
The droid stopped whirring. 200 years? Has it really been that long?”
Hawkin beckoned and the droid followed him to a transport that would take him to the senate building. He stepped on the transport and the droid followed. He pushed the button and the transport headed to the senate building. He looked at the droid.
“Yes it’s been 200 years. What I’m hoping you have in your cranium is memories. I’m trying to get a pay day. The new republic is always looking for something that can tell them the history of the Jedi. There’s not many of those left either.”
The droid crossed its arms.
“I do have memories. And I hope I do see a Jedi. It’s going to be wonderful to see something I do know.”
Hawkin laughed.
“You won’t hardly recognize the Jedi anymore. They absolutely do not follow the rules of old.”
The transport stopped. And Hawkin and the droid got out and walked through the front doors. He saw a receptionist, and walked up to them.
“Hello. I have a droid I need to be checked out. I’m requesting a Jedi. The droid claims itself from the high republic.”
The receptionist leaned forward.
“You’re in luck. I think there’s one in today. A nice lady. But I’m going to ask, what are you trying to gain if this droid does in fact belong to the high republic?”
Hawkin shrugged.
“Payment would be nice. I would like to not have to struggle for a few days.”
The receptionist nodded.
“Alright go have a seat. I’ll contact her with her com link. I have no idea how long she’ll be. She walked in earlier with some kind of Mandalorian I suppose. The armor didn’t track though. It was kind of mismatched.”
Hawkin thanked the receptionist and sat down in a comfy chair. The droid followed suit.
(you know how rex looked its pretty much that but its phase 2 armor forged with Mandalorian and he painted the Mandalorian and clone armor to look like a Mandalorian with modifications)
(I’m fine but I am going to be busier today because I have to work. I’ll still try to reply as often as I can but it’ll be longer gaps in between.)
Calista froze for a moment when she felt a sharp, sudden warning spike in the Force. She turned slowly to look at Jado and was about to warn him when she heard his voice… and ran. She tried to keep herself calm as she raced forward but the icy touch that seemed to fill the very air she breathed made in even more difficult than normal. She couldn't handle it in this state so instead of going to the office, she turned a sharp corner and ran back towards the entrance.
(love the addition of the droid, Winter!)
(she grabbed his guns right…?)
(cause if not well… it wont be fun..)
(actually between the sudden warnings from both Jado and the Force and the suffocating presence of the Dark side, she panicked and just took off)
"good soldiers follow orders…" he got up grabbing his helmet and putting it on and rearming himself going towards the office and kicking the door down looking around "where are you…..calista…..its alright…it was just a false deactivation….i promise everything is alright" he chuckled
Hawkin felt a funny feeling for a moment while he was sitting in the chair. It was like one of his headaches, except he couldn’t place it. It all made sense when what he assumed to be the Jedi rounded the corner into the lobby breathless.
Once finally in a clear calmer setting, Calista was able to catch her breath and recenter herself. “Ok, definitely can't do that by myself.” she muttered before straightening back up and turning to look down the hall she just exited, stretching her awareness in the Force for any sign of Jado.
jado walked out and turned towards the lobby checking every office before had kicking every door down "where are you……come out come out where ever you are….."
Hawkin was sitting in the lobby in shock. First this woman comes blitzing around the corner, and now he was certain he was hearing things, because he could have sworn he heard someone breaking things. He looked at the woman, who he could only assume to be the Jedi, and he spoke.
“What the kriff is happening?”
Calista’s hand twitched toward her saber at the ruckus Jado was making. But she quickly turned when the new voice interrupted her thoughts. “Young man, I strongly suggest you get out of here.” she warned, before giving a look towards the receptionist she spoke to earlier. “Perhaps ask Lorian to call security.”
Hawkin got up and went to the reception desk. The receptionist looked up, already on the phone.
“I sure hope that’s security, because whoever is causing that ruckus is not the most friendly character I would assume.”
The receptionist nodded and continued talking rapidly. Hawkin looked over at the woman who had spoken to him.
“As for leaving? I don’t plan too. I have that droid and it claims it’s from the high republic and I’m not letting it out of my sight. I’m here for you to look at it and to tell me that I’m right and that I’m getting paid for finding a valuable part of Jedi history.”
Calista sighed but nodded at the hope. "He… he warned me about this. He has fits that make him… like this." she tried to explain before looking at the boy with a raised brow. "I'm afraid you're talking to the wrong Jedi. I can check out the droid to see if it does have Jedi connections but if you want credits for it, you'll have to talk with the New Republic. If it is as valuable as you believe, I don't think I'd have enough to give you." she admitted. She wasn't broke or anything but she didn't exactly live well either. Just a small, simple apartment with enough to afford the necessities… and there were times when she could stretch even that.
Hawkin sighed.
“Well. That’s just great. I guess you can do your duty and figure out what this droid possesses. There’s really not a lot in it for me at this point.”
He put his hand under his chin.
“By any chance does whoever making that ruckus wear mismatched armor? And you’re going to think I’m crazy, but for the past two days, if it’s you guys, I’ve been seeing him and you everywhere. Which is odd because normally people go to the under belly of Coruscant to disappear.”
“I’m sorry I can't help you more.” Calista apologized, not letting her guard down about Jado. “But in case you forgot, now might not be the best time. Unless that droid can help with the current situation.” she added as the thought of what kind of droid the boy found came to her.
She raised a brow at the question but nodded. “He does but how have you been seeing us? We only just met each other recently.” she told him, not giving any information about why she was in the lower levels.
Hawkin elbowed the droid.
“You got anything to help us to calm a raging man or whatever?”
Before the droid could answer he looked back at the Jedi.
“The droid says no, it’s got nothing. For kriff’s sake, it’s from the high republic. Ya know a time of peace and art? Not much “violence” happening there.”
He shrugged.
“As for seeing you guys, I was in that kinda less than stellar cantina because they had cheap caf and I saw you. And the night before, I touched a booth and saw a vague memory of you two sitting there, and don’t even get me started on the flashes of memories, I swear some of the fumes I huff all day at work really get to me. So I believe that’s the cause but I could also be wrong. But I’m like 90% certain the fumes are the cause.”
He leaned back in the seat.
“I’m interested in seeing this dude. As far as I know, I’m safe. He seems only to be interested in you.”
Calista gave the boy a flat, unimpressed look at his attitude and dismissive comments. “I'm aware of that but if that droid does have Jedi history then there still might be something.” she pointed out. “You… touched the booth?” she asked thoughtfully before focusing out with the Force towards the boy. “That “guy” is a survivor of the Clone Wars and was able to warn me about this fit before he started acting like this.” she warned firmly.
