Cato walked into the forge and then noticed that Val hadn’t followed him in. He popped his head outside and said, “You can come in, you know,” with a slight smile.
“Oh, yeah,” she said, walking in slowly. Her eyes darted around as she followed Cato.

“You okay?” Cato asked. She looks… scared… but no, Val isn’t scared of anything. Remember that time she took down that monster single-handedly? A forge is nothing.
“Yeah, Yeah, I’m good,” she said hastily, focusing her eyes. “What are we doing here again?”

“Building new stuff. Also figuring out a better plan.”
“Alright, I can’t really help out with the building part so I guess I’ll just brainstorm ideas?” She looked around again nervously and involuntarily flinched when a flame burst up near her. Come on, Valerie, it’s just fire…
“You good? Yeah, ideas would be awesome,” Cato said, bending down over a block of half-melted iron.
“I’m fine,” she snapped, then winced at her own harsh tone.

“‘Kay. Let me know if you need anything,” Cato said, continuing to tinker.
“Yeah, ‘course.” She looked around before remaining where she was, thinking on what was going to happen and trying to ignore the heat. After a few minutes, she said, “How long are we staying here?”
“We can go, if you want,” Cato said, looking up. “I just thought the forum (thats what it’s called right) was a bit busy of a place to talk spy work.”
“It’s fine,” she said, eyes darting around and refusing to meet his. “I’m just curious.”
“No, no, um… we should… you look… yeah, no, Ima stop talking. Let’s get out of here.” Cato walked out of the forge, glancing behind him to make sure Val was following.
She quickly followed him, quietly exhaling in relief once they were outside. “Sorry if that out you behind on a project or anything.”
“No, no, I always come here after dinner anyway. Can’t sleep,” Cato explained. “And I can make the lame-o projects they want me to make easy peasy.”
“Cool,” she grinned. “What do they have you make?”
“Swords, sheaths, daggers, scythes, once a mace,” Cato counted on his fingers. “Once I got paid (large amount of money) to make a war helmet for a puppy.”
“That… honestly sounds adorable. I want that puppy now.”
“It grew out of it in a month,” Cato laughed. “They wanted me to make another one, just bigger and with more crazy adornments, but I turned it down. None of my life goals involve making dog helmets for eternity.”
