Tessa smiled, enjoying her time with her little sister despite her earlier complaints. She added Angel to the game and started a round with the three of them.

As expected, Runner did horribly, but couldn't help but admit he was having fun.
Alex finally wondered back down, shooting a glare at Tessa as he passed, then sat in a chair to watch them. He kept a close eye on Angel in Tess's lap.
Runner's jaw tightened slightly as he walked past, but once again said nothing.
Tess suddenly looked at Alex. "Lex, it was your birthday a few weeks ago, right?"
He looked at her with obvious distaste. "Why do you care?"
"You're sixteen now. Have your license?"
He narrowed his eyes. "In a little bit. Why "
She fished through her pocket and pulled out a key, then tossed it to him. "Happy belated."
His eyes grew the size of saucers. "A Ferrari?!" He opened his mouth to say something else, but she beat him to it.
"Honest money, honest work. I volunteered at a few places." She tried to look disinterested, but inside she was hoping this act was enough to win him over.
Runner watched the two the best he could as he smashed into the wall that lined the course once again.
Angel pouted and pawed at Runner's leg. "Mmmm! Play, play, play!"
"I'm trying, little one." He gave her a smile. "Am I that bad at it?"
"Yesh," she pouted.
He snorted, chuckling. "Ah, fake laughs, hiding real pain."
Alex looked back and forth between the car keys and Tessa, then asked if they could talk in private. She nodded, patted Angel's head and gently set her on the couch next to Runner, and got up. "I'll be back in a bit," she said to Runner.
"Have fun," he mumbled, focus on pleasing Angel through the game.
She ruffled his hair with a smile and followed Alex to the backyard. There, he had her explain in detail why she was the way she was–every nitty-gritty detail about her life and past. It took a while.
Diana eventually approached Runner. "So… what is she like? Tessa? I hardly ever see her, and I don't blame her with her job and just the lack of any supporting parental figures I kind of feel like an outsider…" she rambled on, nerves getting the better of her. She was hiding something.
"She's……hurt. In more ways than one." He frowned, unsure of how much to tell her.
Diana sighed. "I know. It's my fault. I let the doctor dupe me, and now she's gotten abused and treated unfairly. Her father never helped any. Don't know why I expected him to. And I don't know how to tell her–" she suddenly stopped, biting her tongue before she revealed too much.
"Tell her you're sorry. There isn't much else to say." He didn't look up from the game.
"Yeah. Of course." She raked her fingers through her hair, a similar gesture to Tessa and Zeus.
"I can't say she'll be happy at first, but it's the best you can do."
"Yeah… Tell me, Runner." She chewed her lip, unsure If she was crossing a boundary. "Are you two… Happy?"
"Of course," He looked up at her. "I mean, sure, we have our problems, but these past few months have been my happiest ever."
She nodded. "That's… Good to hear."
He nodded, then turned his attention back to the game before Angel had a fit.
Diana chewed her lip then mumbled that she'll leave them to it before going back to the kitchen to talk to Ben.
Tess came back with a less icy Alex in tow. She scooped up Angel, causing her to squeal in delight, and lifted her in the air. "Time to get you all cleaned up for dinner."
Angel pouted. "But!"
"No buts." She set her sister down and ushered her up the stairs. "Wash up. It's almost time to eat."
He set the controller aside and grunted, slapping his thighs as he stood up.
Tessa smirked. "Have fun?"
