He tilted his head. "I'm still not following."
"Kinda. I know her, and I saw you two." Tessa translated.
He nodded. "Well, when's the last time you saw him?"
"Oh, right now." Tess said, and pointed farther into the mall. An equally pale and pastel male with large white feathered wings was walking up to them. His coloring was more pastel green and blue as opposed to Andromeda's yellow and pink.
Lia cursed, hiding behind a plant as the male walked past. I have to find a way to get Runner away from that bitch. He follows her like a lap dog.
Ren joined the group, wrapping an arm around Andromeda's shoulders. "Sorry. Something caught my eye."
Even with the earpieces in, Runner still felt something tug on the back of his mind when Lia moved in close. As casually as he could, he began looking around their surroundings, a light frown on his face.
"Do you guys feel that too?" he asked quietly.
Kia began to squirm slightly, knowing Runner had felt her. Shit, I need to get out of here. He glanced one last time at him before opening a portal on the ground and slipping inside.
"Lia," Tessa growled.
He blinked a couple times, then stared at the bush she had hid behind. "Whatever it is opened a portal. I felt it."
Tessa drew her brows together. "That's odd. Not many people can open portals."
Ren and Andromeda looked confused. Ren rustled his wings. "Anything going on?" Andromeda signed a similar sentiment.
"I think there's been someone following me," he said, rubbing his nose. "But how the hell did I not feel it when she was right there?"
"I have a good guess that it's Lia. She's popped up everywhere and is so that type. I mean, look at that makeup." Tess screwed up her face in distaste.
He frowned. This was the exact reason why he didn't want too stop wandering. It was hard to find someone when they're never in the same place. But now…no. Stop. His jaw clenched tightly, and the hand that was loosely holding the bag was now curled into a fist.
Andromeda dropped her gaze to the fist and frowned. She turned to Ren and signed to him. He nodded and smiled at Tessa. "We have to go. Hope you find what you're looking for!" They left the mall before she could say anything.
Tessa quirked her head. "That was… odd."
Don't explode, it's not that serious. They would've found you either way. He rubbed his face with his free hand.
"Can we go home for a bit?" he asked tensely, grinding his teeth slightly.
Tess looked at him–really looked at him. She glanced away. "Uh, sure." She fell silent for a bit. "You go on ahead. I have to grab a few things first."
"I'll wait at the house, okay?" he attempted a smile.
She frowned, knowing it was fake. She also had a bad feeling about leaving him alone. "Actually, they can wait. I'll go with."
"You don't have to," he said, his face softening slightly.
"I want to." She took the bag from him and started walking away. "My turn."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
