"As is the life of a criminal."
They continue to talk, then all but one if the men leave. Tessa doesn't relax visibly as more people enter. Two were women.
Before anyone could say even a word, one of the entering men pulls a gun on Tessa and fires.
His eyes bulged out of his head as his brain processed the situation. There's a gun. A person behind the gun pulled the trigger. The gun was pointed at Tess. Therefore… He shook his head, snapping out of the trance and feeling adrenaline already enter his bloodstream. "Get me in there!"
Rhianon holds him back. "Watch," she said calmly.
Tess reeled back, tripping over her feet and slamming against the wall. Her hand was gripping the side of her face. "You Motherfucker!" She seethed. One eye was closed–the one next her her hand–as she glared at the man. "Why in the hell would you do that?!"
The man put away his gun, utterly unfazed. "Your reflexes have improved." He observed.
"You could've asked!" She brought her hand away from her face, revealing a patch of scales over her cheekbone. No bullet or wound to be seen.
(Is this a closed rp or can I join?)
The adrenaline drained in an instant, replaced with intense embarrassment. Runner opened his mouth to explain himself, but finds that he could only squeak out a small, "Oh."
(Um, I think you can. Let's just say one of the creatures in the Between pulled your character into the place where MotoMoto's character is in)
((Oh, yeah, of course you can!
One of the two women who had just entered smacked the man who shot Tessa. "Ty! You can't just go around and shoot people just because you want to!"
The boss that Rhianon identified as Renato Rawling sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I apologize, Theresa."
Tessa rubbed at her cheek. "It's fine. He's as uncontrollable as I am, and I've been through worse."
Another man rushed forward and scooped Tessa up in a bear hug, swinging her around. "Ah, I've missed my little Fire Queen! Look how much you've grown!" He held her back to look her over. "A full grown woman now. I bet you have all the men begging at your feet."
Tessa smirked, batting at his hands for him to let her go. "I have a few people in mind."
He raised his eyebrows at this, his mind suddenly drifting to Lia. She made a portal in the middle of a mall and nearly went undetected. Demons roam this place freely. What if she…!
"Oh, Runner!" A sing-songy voice called out from behind him. "How long I waited for you to be away from that pesky Tess! She was such a bore. But now…we are alone~"
Rhianon whipped around, dark magic swirling around her fingers. "Whoever you are, stay away from my son!"
There was no one there. In fact, most of the creatures that had been lurking around the two had cleared out, cloaking the area in an eerie silence.
"Is this a reunion of sorts? Oh, master will be so proud when I bring both of your heads on a plate!"
Runner grit his teeth, saying nothing. Focus on finding her. Forget the taunts.
"Yes, honey, forget the silly remarks. Just come to me and make this as painless as possible. It's a shame that you're too dumb to realize the potential you and your father have. I actually like you. Something to take to your grave, my sweet."
Rhianon snarled, balls of dark magic swirling around her. Discretely, she knocked on the mirror's surface. It was seemingly a meaningless pattern.
Tessa slightly cocked her head to the side, hearing a knocking sound from nowhere. It was Morse code. Help…Trouble… King. She switched to Italian again, excusing herself from the meeting due to a problem elsewhere. Then she left, and the mirror didn't follow. It instead cast an image showing her conversing with the group of mobsters.
Lia was too entranced oon the two to notice the random acts. "Any last words?"
Runner tilted his head, his hair falling limply to one side. "Hm….no. Not really."
"I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT OF YOU." A masculine, booming, ethereal and clearly godly voice echoed through the place. It came from everywhere and nowhere. "YOU DARE COME TO MY HOME, MESS WITH MY PEOPLE, AND EXPECT NO CONSEQUENCES!!!???" The voice laughed, hearty and booming. "FOOLISH GIRL."
(It's the Creator of the universe and the King of the gods, aka Cinthia's dad.)
A small grin graced Runner's lips as Lia suddenly became visible, quivering with fear a few feet above his head. "M-master! HELP!"
"Can I tell you a secret before you die, Lia?" He looked up at her. "Your master? Yeah, he's afraid of us. He knew this was a suicide mission from the start."
She dropped her jaw in shock. "N-no!"
Rhianon pointed at Lia, and the balls of dark magic struck Lia, sucking her life force from her soul. The King was still invisible–perhaps not even in the Between–but he struck Lia down with a single bolt of unnatural lightning, enunciating his wrath with the show of power.
Lia screamed a death howl so loud Runner flinched. It continued up until the point when there wasn't enough life force for her to even move. She dropped to the ground next to Runner, making a dull thump noise.
Rhianon's eyes were hard and unforgiving. She brushed an invisible fleck of dust off her dress. "Foolish brat." She said, then turned her gaze at a random spot on the horizon–if you could even call it a horizon. "Thank you," she whispered. The swirling sky rumbled in answer.
He looked upwards once again. "What…who…?"
"The Creator of this universe," Rhianon explained. "This entire universe is his domain. You may know him as the King of the gods. Or your friend's father. Princess Cinthia, I believe?"
He laughed slightly. "Yeah, I do. Um…thanks, sir?" He directed that towards the sky.
The sky rumbled again, though a bit more… affectionately? The feeling was conveyed through the air. A feeling of pride and respect tangled with it.
"I think I understand….I think." He glanced over to his mom for a possible translation.
"You are close to his daughter and the one she cares about. He is proud of how much you have grown, and respects your relationship with his daughter." She didn't sound bitter as she spoke.
