A twisted version of Earth where magic does exist

Practically a carbon copy of Earth, but in an alternate universe. It followed Earth's same timeline until its people advanced faster and discovered magic. It took its own path from there but still bears an uncanny resemblance to Earth.

The basic laws of physics ARE there - like I said, this is just an alternate-timeline Earth. However, they can be temporarily bent and removed with magic.

Magic is possible, primarily through potions and powders. However, most nations have outlawed magic due to its tenancies to get out of hand. This doesn't stop some people though, including rebels and leaders.

Technology is very advanced in some departments and lacking greatly in others. Among the most advanced pieces are the videoplexes, which are like advanced TVs. However, transportation and communication are lacking; only the high class have effective methods of either. Everyone below that mostly relies on public shuttles or private wagons for transportation and letters or very laggy, outdated communication bars for communication. The high class have private hoverbuses and the InstaCom system, which is similar to texting.
