Sensecraft
Overview
The name given to the magic available throughout Serus. Often shortened to just "Craft," with wielders referred to as "Crafters." It allows manipulation of particular senses, both in oneself and in other living beings.
Sensecraft is gained by visiting and making contact with a Terminus. Only one type of Craft can be held at a time; touching another Terminus without first expending the old energy will do nothing.
A Crafter may always alter their own senses as they wish, while the senses of others may only be affected if they are physically touching. (This still works through clothes and other sufficiently thin layers, though especially bulky armor may block it.) Crafting may be performed at a distance and through obstacles if the user has reached a high level of Sensecraft Mutation. Any living creature is a valid target, though it should be noted that many non-humanoid creatures do not experience or use certain senses in the same way as us, so the effects may be unpredictable.
The specific types of Sensecraft are Visimancy, Audimancy, Olfamancy, Gustamancy, Tactimancy, Propriomancy, Chronomancy, Thermomancy, Nocimancy, and Egomancy.
Mutations
Repeatedly absorbing Sensecraft will eventually trigger increasing levels of Sensecraft Mutation. Switching between types of Craft without enough time in-between can also cause Switchsickness.
Origins
Sensecraft energy is naturally occurring within Serus's mantle, flowing deep underground until it encounters an obstacle sufficient to divert it to the surface and form a Terminus. It is technically a finite resource, but modern estimations say that it will not run out until the sun has expanded enough for Serus to become unlivable anyway.
