SID

Short for "Sensecraft Identification Device." A handheld device with a large screen, capable of detecting the type and concentration of Sensecraft carried by a person. SIDs are used by law enforcement and related organizations in their daily work; for example, they are a common sight around a Terminus, where guards can check visitors for a conflicting Craft and help avoid Switchsickness.

The device need only be waved across the person to be identified. Two quick beeps means that no Sensecraft was detected. One sustained beep means that it was; the type will be shown on the screen along with other details.
