Magical Energy

Magical energy, often colloquially referred to as just "energy," forms the basis of all magic. It has always existed since Zeta's creation, and can take many different forms, each with its own sets of behaviors. Energy is used in the casting of Spells for all sorts of purposes.

Energy can loosely be divided into two categories: Elemental Energy, and everything else. The non-elemental energies (Life Force, Neutral Energy, and the energy fueling the Divine Powers) serve specific natural functions, and are less commonly used in spells.

Concentration/Purity

When energy is undiluted by matter such as air and particulates, it is said to be "concentrated" or "pure" and takes on different behaviors. Each type gives off a unique color of light. Most types become extremely hot to the touch, but do not radiate heat into the air.

Unless it is held in place, such as by the shell of a Soul, energy has a natural tendency to lose purity over time.

Differences from Matter

The trait mostly commonly used to distinguish magic from non-magic is that magical energy does not obey laws of conservation. For example, pure energy is able to duplicate itself in a closed system, and energy of Light Magic and Dark Magic will annihilate each other on contact.

Energy also tends to drift away or dissipate over time if left unchecked. Eventually it floats off outside the atmosphere, where it is absorbed by the Void Zone.
