Energy Manipulation

A type of Spell involving moving around or otherwise altering Magical Energy that has already been created. Unlike Energy Creation, which relies on the presence of a Soul Core for the element the mage wishes to wield, manipulation only requires the energy to be present in the mage's body in any concentration.

Because a pure core is not required, all mages are capable of manipulating energy found elsewhere in the soul, such as Neutral Energy and Life Force.

Spellcasting Process

The mage forms a very thin bridge of magic that connects their body to the energy they wish to command. The bridge is not visible to the naked eye, and as a result most mages are not aware of the exact process. The creation of the bridge is similar to casting a creation spell, with the energy flowing through the Energy Channels until it exits the body.

Once the caster and energy are connected, the most common forms of manipulation are displacing it or altering its concentration. Forcing energy into a very low state of concentration (dispersing it over a wider area) makes it difficult to maintain control over the entire cloud. Similarly, it requires more mental effort to hold energy in a very high state of concentration, as its natural tendency is to push back against the caster's will.
