Magitech
A field straddling the lines between magic and science, combining Magical Energy with ordinary machines and other materials to form useful tools that anyone can employ, including non-mages.
The basis of any magitech device is at least one Crystal, which houses the energy that powers it.
Differences From Plain Magic
All magitech takes advantage of crystals' ability to store energy with intent already added. While the difference between true magitech and a simple crystal with a pre-loaded spell is more colloquial, often down to whether the crystal is embedded in some other device, many pieces of magitech combine stored intent with that of the caster to execute complex spells.
Charging Devices
The crystal that powers a magitech device must be charged, by a mage well-versed in the art. Storing energy with intent, especially energy that will also use the eventual caster's intent, requires a clear, calm mind and the ability to dictate unambiguous instructions without seeing the results right away. It can be likened to writing a program on a computer.
Cultural Impact
Magitech is a fairly new field in Zeta's history, and so far has only seen widespread use among Humans, particularly in Terrata. It is still considered a bit of a luxury, but new infrastructure is being laid all the time. Well-known examples of magitech devices include cell phones and AIDA Cubes.
