The Reserves, The Civilian Army, stickboys

A section of the military for those who don't make the cut for the regular army, but still wish to contribute to the cause in some way.

The organization follows the same structure as in the main branch of the military, with the exception of Serviceman being equivalent of the military rank of Private, and Volunteer equivalent to Enlisted.

Men who fail to pass all tests required to enlist in the R.H.A, whether physical fitness, weapon comprehension, or the education test, can join the Reserves. After joining, one is obligated to stay for one year in which they either drop out or go on to become a Serviceman with the potential to go into the main army branch. Those who complete their year under the Reserves and then then move on to the army are automatically promoted to Private.

Their biggest obstacle is funding, because no one takes their jobs as seriously as the other branches of the military. The Reserves have to work with outdated equipment, if they have any at all, and are often thrust into situations that they're barely trained for.

The Reserves are the grunts of Hyrule's military complex, and do the work that is too dangerous and/or menial for the regular soldiers such as disaster relief, firefighting, policing, and other emergency response efforts. They interact directly with civilians and are expected to tend to their needs as is seen fit.

The Reserves are for those who failed to make the cut to be a soldier. Many men knowingly join the Reserves to take advantage of their somewhat decent pay and their free educational services, and then drop out after their obligatory year is completed.

Because they deal with disaster relief and police work, their jobs are among the hardest and most dangerous of all military jobs during peace time, and many die to accidents and unforeseen consequences that come with their line of work. The most risky is the firefighting unit.

While the Reserves' enlisted do not get plate or mail armor, they do wear uniforms consisting of a cotton doublet, a tough leather jerkin, trousers, boots, and a cap. A pin is worn on the cap to indicate rank and which unit one belongs to.

As a weapon, they are issued a wooden straightstick baton.
