Coryn was born the middle child and only son of a tailor in Euria's capital city of Bellmare, 4 years after his older sister Noelle. He lived a happy early life alongside his father and his mother Samantha, as well as Noelle and his younger sister Annelie, who was born when he was 4 years old.

However, his peaceful life was shattered not long after Annelie's birth, when a Duskwing Syndicate Subjugation invaded Bellmare in an attempt to seize it. His father died trying to protect them, and to make things worse their shop was burned down in the chaos. With nowhere else to go, the family was forced to flee into the slums, where they fell into poverty. As Samantha had to breastfeed Annelie while simultaneously taking care of a then-toddler Coryn, Noelle ended up being the breadwinner of the family. As they grew, Coryn became aware of Noelle's scavenging habits, often growing worried about his older sister's safety. Despite this, he tried to stay brave for the sake of his family – particularly Annelie, helping out in any way he could.
