Seri
Main Character
Lady Seri, Heres Hiems- her formal title, which she is very proud of
Female
16
115 lbs
5'3"
Pale Brown and almost frosted in appearance.
Seri's hair is long and straight. She doesn't like cutting it, and is allowed to grow it out as it is the current socially accepted style in Consecta. She prefers to wear it down, but will braid it for formal occasions.
Her eyes are a pale blue color that appears purple in certain lights. While not bright and vivid, they are striking all the same.
Fae
Seri has very pale skin. She is so pale that it looks unhealthy, probably because she doesn't go outside much.
Seri is slim and willowy. Although she is not very tall, she has long arms and legs.
Everything about Seri seems pale and muted. From her hair to her eyes, even the tone of her lips, she almost appears to be glazed over by frost.
Her skin is completely smooth and blemish free. She has long nimble fingers and a distinctly pointed chin. She is sharp and angular, yet also surprisingly graceful.
Seri's wings are ice blue with darker blue veins. They are dragonfly-like in shape, but not transparent.
She's a night owl and likes to sit on her windowsill staring at the moon. She is preternaturally still and rarely seems to blink. When she is feeling insecure or nervous, Seri's entire body stiffens. As she was kept separate from others for most of her childhood, she doesn't know how to act around fae. Her speech tends to be stilted and she rarely shows affection. Seri also moves quietly and has a habit of sneaking up on fae by accident. Other fae tend to see her as cold and unapproachable (which she doesn't really mind), but she is mostly just scared and unsure.
Seri wants power. She loves having control and relishes her position as the Heir to Winter. She does not know that she is not the true Heir-her 'dead' sister Srivani was-and worries about the weakness of her winter magic. She has always felt like she is in the shadow of her sisters. She feels they outstrip her in their magical abilities, which she hates. She wants to be more powerful than them and make a name for herself.
Seri's lust for power is her biggest flaw. It consumes her every action and leads to a simmering resentment towards those who have more power than her. As a result, she can become defensive and angry very quickly. She does not like it when anyone is better at something than she is. Seri would do anything to gain more power. She is also insecure about her magic and who she is. Her winter magic is weak (nonexistent) causing a bit of an identity crisis. She pushes herself to the limit in failed attempts to make her magic stronger. Actually, her ambition comes from her insecurity. She subconsciously thinks that if she can become more powerful her magical weaknesses would not matter anymore and she would be more solid in her identity.
Seri shares many Consectan fae's prejudice towards sprites. She views them as less intelligent and less capable of emotion than fae. She thinks they should stay in their place, that place being as servants or as little more than animals. She is also prejudiced against the native Levians. Although she enjoys the power her position as the Heres Hiems affords her, she couldn't care less about the tribes and ignores that part of her heritage.
Seri is very good at moving quietly. She is very light on her feet and is practically silent while walking. This makes it so that she can easily sneak up on others. She is also good a fighting, especially with daggers. As she is not very magically talented, she tries to make up for it by becoming proficient at fighting with non-magical weapons.
Seri's favorite pastime is reading. Growing up she didn't have many companions, so she took to reading as a way to spend her free time. She reads a mixture of non-fiction books about strategy, leadership, etc, and classic Consectan novels that her father imports from Consecta. When she is reading is the only time that Seri's body relaxes. She becomes completely absorbed in the book and doesn't notice anything around her. It annoys Seri when someone disturbs her while she is reading.
Seri is high-strung. She is a noblewoman and she knows it. She is accustomed to having people serve her. She thinks that her position as the lord's daughter and as the supposed Heres Hiems gives her more importance than others. She prides herself on her titles, although most of the time she secretly worries that she doesn't live up to them. She always feels like she has to prove herself to her family and show her servants why she is 'better' than them.
Seri is highly conscious of what others think of her. She is always worrying about the way she presents herself to others. She wants to come across as powerful and sophisticated. She's always measuring her own reactions and emotions to maintain that facade.
When Seri becomes invested in something, she wants become 'the best' at that thing. She pushes herself and works hard to master skills, such as school-work, her magic, fighting, etc. When she becomes good at something, she enjoys showing off her skills. However, she never feels like she's 'good enough' at it. On one hand, this leads her to keep striving to do even better. On the other, she's never satisfied with herself or her lot in life. If Seri struggles to master something, like she has with her magic, she becomes obsessed with it, angry, and frustrated. She doesn't know when to give up.
Talisman Magic:
Seri believes that she is the heres hiems, the Heir to Winter, and that she absorbed the Winter Talisman as a newborn, giving her the ability to do winter magic. However, she did not and can only use the normal Talisman magic. Her talisman is a golden leaf that was made into a necklace.
Natural Ability:
Seri is limited by her lack of socialization and her inability to be satisfied with herself. Her lack of true winter magic (and her lack of knowledge about this fact) also limits her.
The Summer Solstice, some time in June
Seri has had a similar education to Aderyn. They are both young daughters of a lord, so they both received education that would make them 'desirable' wives. For Seri, this included things such as dancing, music, etiquette, housekeeping, etc. As Seri has also been raised to believe she is the Heres Hiems, she has also received education in politics, mathmatics, reading and writing, fighting, etc. All of Seri's schooling was done privately and apart from her sisters. She fully embraced her schoolwork and excelled at most of it.
When Seri was born, she was not given a seasonal talisman. She was just a normal fae child. However, after Srivani 'died', her father decided that Srivani would take up the title of the Heres Hiems in order to save face with the tribes. They would not have been pleased if a Consectan lord had lost their Heir to Winter. He claimed that, although Srivani had been the original Heres Hiems, when she had 'died' her power had transferred to Seri. In reality, Srivani had not died and Seri did not have winter magic. Even so, Seri was raised to believe that she did have it. She was kept almost entirely separate from her sisters to hide just how much weaker her magic was from theirs. Both Seri and her sisters have been told this separation was to keep Seri free from any 'distractions' while she strengthened her magic.
Her sisters:
Seri has a bit of a strained relationship with her sisters. She has been kept isolated from them for most of her life, so she doesn't know them very well. She is also envious of their ability to wield their seasonal while she struggles with hers (which is actually nonexistent). As a result, Seri doesn't get along with them very well. There's not a lot of open hostility between them, but it's definitely an uncomfortable relationship.
Her father:
Kostel is the person in her family that Seri has had the most interaction with. He often checks in on her to monitor her progress with her magic/schooling. Seri doesn't have a super loving relationship with him, though. It's more that she wants to impress him and wants his approval.
