GMO and seeking Global Revolution™
(Main POV Character of book uno)
"Fourteen" (Nickname)
Lawful good
Male
16 (Looks more like 18, probably bc he's genetically enhanced)
179 lbs
6'4
Dark brown, straight
Starts with a standard taper, but it turns into a messy taper after the rebels snatch him
(I have a picture in the gallery)
He has a simple, uniform hair pattern permanently shaved into his hair at the temple: Two bars, the top one a bit longer than the bottom.
Also, he gets crazy bedhead.
Clean-shaven
Soft, fawny gold that can look piercing if he's angry
Human (GES)
Ethnically ambiguous, as both his donors were biracial (trivia)
He's a mix of black, Polynesian, Native American and European- With a even slight touch of Asian.
A lot of this is due to the fact that racial tension starts to die down with Gen Z, who would be ancient wrinkly old people by the time Fourteen was born. So a lot of people have been mixing since then
Moderate-brown and ashen. About Type V on a Fitzpatrick Scale.
Fourteen, like all GES, is engineered to be a mesomorph. (However there are occasional endomorphs and ectomorphs in the GES- Not the all gene manipulation sticks.)
Strong and fit but also lean bc he's still young. Tall. Straight nose (Kinda big, but not gigantic like ur thinking), rectangular frame and square jaw.
Small scar that splits his left eyebrow in half.
GES brand on the back of his neck. (Shaped like a simple, short DNA fragment)
114
(Natural intelligence: When "designing" the GES, genetic engineers leave intelligence genes alone because GES apply to the Athena Act for some reason. Besides, they don't want to engineer soldiers to be smarter than their commanders, and they don't want soldiers that are too stupid to regard logic.
So GES inherit intelligence strictly from nature- If a GES child shows signs of being a genius- anyone with IQ being in the 160 range- they're put into special training to become military strategists. )
It depends on how he's feeling in the moment:
If he's nervous: He's gonna fold his arms, avoid eye-contact and unconsciously side-step away from whatever's making him nervous
If he's tired: He'll try not to show it, but his voice gets husky
If he's happy: His posture will open up more, he'll talk more and smile (duh)
If he's sad: You might never notice. He'll be quiet, (like he usually is) maybe a little more reserved than usual. He'll try to distance himself unless you call him over.
Angry: He's very good at suppressing emotions, but you'll probably be able to tell if he's angry. He's brisque in conversation and gives short answers- But he'll probably avoid conversation altogether. He'll go find something to do, like chores or hunting, and he'll avoid whoever he's angry at all costs. He doesn't raise his voice unless he's calling somebody or in an extremely heated argument, so if he yells at you- congrats, u made him F U R I O U S
(Don't worry, tho- He probably won't stay mad for any longer than a day, and he'll probably come and apologize to you if he yelled. That's another thing about him- he's pretty quick to beat himself up, (cOugh coUGh lowselesteem cOUGH) and he's constantly trying to make up for his mistakes)
Neutral: Has a habit of standing still when someone's talking to him, unless he's comfortable with the person he's talking to. Good posture, long strides when he walks (So he's annoyingly hard to keep up with) and excellent balance.
(Background information) Was genetically modified and born into the armed forces. In this world, they create genetically enhanced soldiers to serve in the military instead of civilians. Serving as a youth officer, he only gets border watch for small cities, usually, but he still has a strong love of country and desire to protect. This love of country later warps into just a love of people instead, after he uncovers some seriously messed up stuff involving the government.)
So, basically:
- Love of country
- Desire to serve
These are GES motivations so they're kinda shallow- They aren't motivations that he obtained himself, they were just grafted into him.
Personal motivations:
- Desire to keep everybody safe and end all the suffering around him
- Ending veloxia and saving the Beyonders
- Making up for all the stupid things he feels guilty for
- He REALLY WANTS TO FEEL NECESSARY; His whole life he'd been raised under the impression that he was expendable and worthless, and deep down he really wants to feel like he's wanted and relevant.
-Self-esteem level is -2947728 and he feels like he's expendable trash (Probably bc he grew up being taught that he's expendable trash.)
-Feels like he needs to solve his problems by himself
-Blames himself for things he "could have prevented"
-De-sensitized by a lot of the stuff he's had to do.
- Bad at making friends, and can be clingy (Though he's pretty good about watching reactions and seeing when he's being annoying)
"Good people with lots of power are very rare- it's safe to assume they sit on a lot of dark secrets."
"If they're in range of fire, so are you."
"If the job is too easy, you're doing something wrong."
He has a knack with technology, and he's very familiar with how wires and electricity work. He's also able to shoot most assault and hunting rifles, and his aim is very good. He could probably handle a machine gun, if necessary.
He gets to be a skilled deer hunter, and he's pretty good at tracking them down.
Fit and capable. He's got good stamina and fast reflexes.
Dominik's a surprisingly good judge of character and is pretty good about reading hints and underlying meanings.
He's actually pretty smart and strategic, but he'll deny it.
He'd make a good mechanic- He’s always taking tech apart and modifying it. He really likes fixing things and putting stuff together. He likes to take apart and rebuild anything between a pen and a gun. He takes apart his mask, too, because it's kinda glitchy and he's trying to fix it.
He loves learning new games and sports (But that doesn't really happen until he gets kidnapped/leaves the GES force)
INTP or INTJ-T
He constantly puts others before himself, and his first priority is them. He's protective and would probably take a bullet for you if hen thinks ur worth it. This sounds really selfless and brave, but he's actually been raised to defend Loyalists and other nobles with his life- He's supposed to be willing to take a bullet for them, too- Even if they're essentially strangers.
Outwardly, he looks calm and collected- Really reserved, and respectful. He's a bit awkward with people his age and doesn't have a ton of experience with having friends. Considers himself a black sheep. At social events, he sticks to the quieter areas and mostly watches- He enjoys talking with one or two people at a time, any more and he'll probably just listen instead of chat.
If you ask him to do something, he'll probably do it- unless it's obviously wrong or not serious. So like, if you ask him to get you some water, he'll do it- zero questions asked. This is because obedience was drilled into him since he was a kid, and disobedience would result in an instant penalty. He's still instinctively obedient out of habit.
Again, kind of de-sensitized due to the things he’s had to do in the military- So like, he won’t flinch if he sees you bleeding your guts out. He functions well in chaos. A side effect of him being de-sensitive, however, is he's kinda lousy at comforting people and talking about feelings. (Won't cry in front of anybody.) He's also constantly swallowing emotions like anger and sadness, which is not healthy, and will probably blow up in his face one day, rip
I already talked about his craptastic self-esteem, and he's always trying to make up for all the stupid stuff he's done/stupid stuff he feels responsible for. This makes him good at apologizing and forgiving others- but he s u c k s at forgiving himself.
He's not good at talking about emotions, but he's good at reading expressions and finding out when you're upset. He's observant and listens to you more than you think, and he remembers all the little details about you.
He tries to be helpful whenever possible and is determined to pull his own weight- and more, if he can. He doesn't want to be a burden on anybody.
He has an uncommon but nice smile. His laugh is nice too, but rare. He doesn't do courtesy laughs- he's very genuine and honest. If you say something funny, he might give you a smile instead of a courtesy laugh. I know it's kinda disappointing to tell a joke and only get a smile, but he doesn't really know that.
He's very sweet- Like, he's not great at talking about feelings, but he'll start doing little things for you if ur sad. That's like his one "awwe" trait lol
He's really brave. He'll stand up for you if you're important to him, and you'll be surprised by how loyal of a friend he can be. (Again, he's constantly putting others before himself, so he's very loyal)
He gets kinda bugged when normal (albeit, kinda uneducated) people treat him like a robot because he's genetically enhanced, or "tampered" (slang for GMO)
Phrases that make him uncomfortable:
"You didn't have PARENTS?!"
"You're hungry? But I thought you were invincible or whatever."
"Wait, you can take your mask off? I thought that was your actual face..."
"Woah, you have blood?!"
"Will you glitch if you got wet..?"
"How many inches are in seven miles?"
...Etc.
Lol he's not really a chatterbox unless you get him really, really excited. Or sugar high. Or if you keep him up till 3:25 AM.
So, overall summary:
Lonely golden retriever lmbo
Genetically Enhanced Soldier (GES)
He’s genetically engineered to be stronger, faster, tougher, and bigger. (Average adult height of a GES is 6'8" for men and 6'1" for women)
January 14th, 2119
Basic Military education, but advanced experience in leadership and strategy.
(GES have a lighter education- They have core classes that teach them how to read, write, do math, shoot and drive. They have brief history classes, too- It's a watered-down version of the Loyalist history class, only going into detail about the wars, battle strategies, solutions/consequences and reasons for the conflict.)
Created in a lab out of donated Loyalist DNA along with all the other GEU's. He grew up in the Southern Genocastra Base, completed his training at age 16 and was deployed a week later with his squadron to guard the border of Stanford City.
He was on duty for about six months before getting taken by the Rebel Caravan, and the rest is claSsiFiEd 👀
His siblings aren't actually biological siblings, and they're not really esteemed as such either. They're all just GES.
Training uniform: Combat shirt or tanktop in muted blues, gray BDU pants (Wool commando sweater for winter, color choice between black, gray or blue
Casual uniform: Collarless T-shirt, solid muted blue coloring, no pattern- black or gray trousers
Official uniform: Sci-fi-looking suit of armor. Includes a chestplate, shoulderplates, and armored boots that go up to the knees. The entire suit is almost completely bulletproof and waterproof. Made mostly of titanium alloy, with a refractive coating to disperse heat. BDU pants reinforced to allow movement, but still be bulletproof. Armor is wirelessly linked up to the mask, constantly sending him information like armor condition and injury severity.
Dogtag is mandatory no matter what you're wearing. They're used for body identification in case you die and medical information incase you're wounded and unconscious.
Mask Description: Same idea as Star Lord's mask (Guardians of the Galaxy) so his hair sticks out at the top. The front looks a lot different, tho. Still has the metal frame, but it's not as bulky and more streamlined. The face of the mask is black, sleek and glossy, and the only facial features are two, glowing white eyespots. There's some hair-thin LED strips that connect to the eyespots and run up and down the mask symmetrically on either side, and they glow blue. (They'll turn red if the wearer is wounded/unconscious and green if he's infected with veloxia.)

The entire GES lifestyle is flawed and mentally damaging, and it's a low priority for the government atm, so it's not changing any time soon. The Loyalists are spared most the details regarding training and raising soldiers- All they know is "donating DNA makes powerful soldiers to protect us from hollows, yaaaaay"
He's terrified of being deployed- Only 30% of troops survive long enough to get redeployed. They're deployed in squadrons at age 16 on average. The pressure is insane. He feels nauseous when he thinks about it and gets majorly stressed out.
He manages this stress by target practice and taking walks. He mostly keeps his fears to himself, because he doesn't wanna look like a wimp in front of the other GES that seemingly take deployment lightly.
I dunno... Libra or Cancer? Maybe? Perhaps Virgo. Send help.
Gryffindor or Ravenclaw
Soldier (Fleurie)
Zero (Imagine Dragons)
His first squadron was the 5th Squadron. When he was twelve, his squadron got into a messy prank war with Squadron 9. One kid named Forty-Seven seemed to especially hate him. At announcements in the Mess Hall, Squadron 5 always sits at the table in front of Squad 6. One day, as Markus Brown was stalking into the room, one of the Squadron 6 members hurled a water balloon filled with old milk directly at Markus. The angle he threw it made it look like it was coming from Squadron 5. The hush that fell over the room was terrifyingly hilarious- What idiot would dare douse Markus in milk? Markus wiped the milk off his brow, then slowly turned towards Squadron 5. Then he pointed exactly at the person who'd thrown it, from Squad 6, and ordered their entire squadron to the stakes.
//SCRAPPED MEMORY//
Forty-Seven was furious, and in combat training one day, he got pitted against Fourteen. He actually sliced Fourteen in the face so hard, it had knocked his mask clean off and sliced his eyebrow in half. Fourteen's mask is still chipped from the incident. Forty-Seven didn't get the stakes because it was combat training. Fourteen hurled a smoke-bomb into Squadron 9's cabin later for revenge for both the attempted framing in the Mess Hall and for his new scar. (Although he kinda likes his scar- He thinks it makes him look tough lol)
//END OF SCRAPPED MEMORY//
Quick Q&A~
Q: Where do they get all these water balloons and smoke bombs??
A: Smoke bombs are for military use, and you can find them if you break into the supply shed- A simple task if you short-circuit the door sensor. The water balloons are in the shed, too. They're used in training exercises for the 3-7 year olds.
Fourteen thinks he might have a twin sister. There's a girl exactly his age that looks exactly like him in another squadron, and her ID is the next number after his. Twins are hard to find for GES as they'll usually separate the babies before they're born so they don't interfere with the other's development. A sentimental nurse later confirms this.
Probably his first BBQ fest on Christmas with the rebels. He'd finally realized that he was one of them, and he started to see them as the family he'd never had. Plus there was BBQ. That was pretty good, too.
When his squadron was ambushed by a group of hollows. They were patrolling the outside border of Stanford City when fifteen or twenty hollows burst out of the trees and attacked. Three of his friends got mowed down and attacked, Fourteen shot two, and the others started firing at the hollows as well. There was just too many though- Twenty turned into thirty, and it seemed like there was a whole horde in the forest that kept coming. Eleven members of his 15-soldier squad were dying on the ground when Fourteen finally booked it. A trio of the things started sprinting after him. Fear was the main fuel to his steps, and he ran five or six miles before he tripped into a small sinkhole and blacked out. The hollows had stopped tailing him after the first two miles, but he kept running. Can you blame him?
(And surprise, surprise- he blames his friend's deaths on himself bc he ran)
His favorite training exercise actually sounds kinda fun- They drop you into this fenced forest of about 3 acres with fifty other GES and you basically play paintball. The ten most paint-soaked cadets get the stakes.
He has a low voice with an English accent.
His friends just called him "Fourteen." (They all had fours at the starts of their ID's so they usually just go with the next two numbers when abbreviating your ID)
His DNA came from two different territories (former countries): Samoa and Bulgaria. DNA for the GES is donated anonymously, so his parents don't know him, or even each other.
He is a fourth generation GES (There's a new generation every two decades.) Thus, the first number in his ID is a 4.
He is a bit bathophobic, AKA afraid of depth (Deep water, seemingly bottomless chasms, the endless yawning darkness of space that you could fall through for hours, unable to return or stop yourself from falling, etc)

He grew up defending Loyalist cities, but later joins the rebellion.
(Just ignore this part)
Youth soldier, borderwatch
Definitely not red- Probably blue, because it reminds him of the sky.
Can eat an impressive amount of BBQ
His dogtags- He likes it because it reminds him that he has a kinda unique identity. Growing up being taught he's expendable and there are millions that could easily replace him, it's easy to lose one's sense of worth and individuality.
Everything they say:
ID: #414791
Squadron: 009
Birthdate: 01/14/19
Blood Type: AB+
S. Genocastra Base
(Dogtags contain mostly medical information instead of burial preferences- unlike modern dog tags. If a GES goes down in battle, their coordinates are automatically sent to the nearest military medical team by the AI implemented in their armor. The team dispatches and collects the wounded soldier off the battlefield and treats them. Knowing things like their blood type and age can affect how they're treated.)
His favorite gun is a rifle based off of an "old-fashioned" pump-action shotgun. It shoots something similar shotgun shells, but they're tiny and more compact. You pump it to reload about 200 little shells, then you can shoot it full auto. It's also pretty futuristic-looking, so go ahead and picture something cool.
He likes watching squirrels, when they’re around.
Border watch for Stanford City. His squadron patrols a potion of the border once every four hours, taking care of threats like rebels and hollow hordes.
