Francis Caradoc
Was 38 when he died.
Male
Mr. Caradoc, Officer Caradoc, Frans
Shudra, Aswinn's Father
Glasses
Thin, with longish legs; muscular like Aswinn, but his muscles weren't entirely visible.
Fair, but sometimes a little bit tanned in the summer when he was outside at work supervising the fields or catching speeders on the road.
Human
Sea Green
In the mornings, he had a bit of stubble, but he always stayed clean-shaven. He had slightly caterpillar-like eyebrows and thick, longish eyelashes.
Kept short but not like a buzz cut, exposed ears.
Was dark brown when he was younger, was starting to turn a little bit dark grey when he got older.
5'10"
142 lbs.
When he thought there was going to be a fight, he often held his hand out to the side just like his son would do in a fight years later.
Francis was often a very friendly person who sometimes cracked jokes when he was happy, and put his hand on his son's shoulder nearly every time he talked to him. His laugh was a friendly chuckle.
When Francis got angry, he almost never shouted. He only shouted if the person was going to hurt someone else with their carelessness or cruelty, especially if his family/Caste was in danger. Other times he would sigh like he was disappointed and speak quietly and slowly (with his hands to his side in spear position sometimes).
Francis was a sorry sight when he was angry. Just like his son, his sea-green eyes would seem to dull and he would become quiet and lost in thought.
When he was afraid, he tried to talk to himself and sometimes made sarcastic remarks to make himself laugh. He kept his hand to his side in preparation for summoning his spear and tried to remain relaxed and un-tense while his heart was racing.
When Francis was younger, the thing that motivated him the most was one day proving himself to be worthy of the spear. He also wanted to make his parents proud and for justice to shine through.
After he started a family, Francis was interested in protecting his wife and son as well as keeping peace and justice in order in New Kansas County.
Aswinn tends to look back on his father with rose-colored glasses, and this is both good and bad. His father sometimes had to make difficult, bad decisions when he was a police officer, decisions that Aswinn never knew about. These decisions sometimes kept Francis up at night and he carried guilt for the rest of his life.
Francis doesn't like people who disrespect authority, even of a high position that is difficult and corrupted. He didn't know that Meria would ever become such an activist and encouraged his son's friendship with her until the end of his days. Perhaps that wouldn't be so if he had lived to see what they would do when they were older.
Francis knows how to tell when someone is lying and is a talented spear-thrower. In his younger days, he was the champion of courtyard tag.
He didn't have time for hobbies except when he was a kid. When he was a kid, he liked to play tag in the courtyard during lunch at school and was well-known for collecting his classmates' signatures.

December 20th, 8 NA
Was educated at Shudra public school from age five until he was twenty and became a police officer since his parents could afford to send him to pursue his career.
Francis Caradoc was born to a couple of Shudra craftspeople in 8 NA. They were considerably poor, almost as poor as the Chandalas, when they had their son. Francis grew up hearing stories about his grandfather being one of the bravest soldiers in WWIII and this made him want to be a brave soldier, too. But brave soldiers weren't needed after the reformation of society, so he decided, from age twelve, to become a police officer instead and fight crime in his own backyard. So his parents decided to continue sending him to school with the decent profits they were earning before the industrial renaissance created another wave of automated handlooms. He grew up, found a wife, and started a family.
None.
Francis means free, and Caradoc means loved. He is Aswinn's beloved father whose spirit is now elsewhere.

Spear
Believes that the legal system should be kept in order but doesn't think that the government is running things in a fair, just way.
Francis wasn't particularly picky about food, so he has no favorite. He's just grateful to have something to eat, unlike the Chandalas.
The special spear that he later passed on to his son.
Eagles sound pretty cool.
White. It's the color of light, the good on the spectrum.
