Aniya was born with the ability to read emotions and induce nightmares. One day, when she was seven years old, she and her parents were driving down a road in the city. Aniya did not realize what she was doing and induced a nightmare in her father's mind. He lost control of the car and both of Aniya's parents were killed in the resulting crash. Oblivious to the fact that she had accidentally killed her parents, Aniya began to live on the streets, wandering off into back alleys and learning how to survive. She soon met her friend Jake while living in the alleys of the city. In the words of Amy:
"I grew up in a poorer area. I had a rich friend. Then one day I learned about his abusive father. I took a scythe and taught this drunk man a lesson. Later I learned that he drove when he was drunk and died. I brought my young friend to my home. I continued to do this. To the rich, I'm a devil. To the poor, i'm a savior."
