Fair
Normally, Lillian can be found wearing a old vampiric styled dress, usually one with a slit in one side for greater mobility. But no matter what she wears, the Flesh Messiah is almost always covered in head to toe with blood - usually as a product of her chosen craft.
Her appearance throughout the centuries has changed drastically depending on the era and the culture. In Ancient Greece, she sported blonde hair and white gowns. In the dark ages, a medieval dress and cold black armor. The list goes on. These items still remain in the family today.
There's a black, burned imprint of full lips over her heart. As a result of self-experimentation with the Black Blood, four of her teeth can become incisors and two into fangs. The rest of her teeth are slightly pointed, almost like canines.
Lillian carries herself with elegance, styling her long, silky black hair differently each day. Her skin is pale an inhumanly perfect, her full lips that are usually pelted black or red, and her otherworldly eyes rimmed in dark eyeliner. Prolonged use of Blood Alchemy has turned her eye color permanently crimson, and has changed two of her teeth into vampire-like fangs.
She carries herself in the manner of someone who is seldom refused and never disobeyed. Lillian has a powerful, ancient presence that is difficult to ignore. She doesn't take nonsense from anyone, and she's known for inflicting the most horrendous of punishments upon her unfortunate victims.
Even before becoming one of the Shadow Knights, Lillian was a historian who kept record of all notable civilizations as soon as she learned to write. Her thirst for knowledge if rivaled only by the Empress herself, and she never stops learning or experimenting. But as such, there is also very little that she's done - meaning that she can be easily bored.
Her bread and butter is torture, specifically impalement. It is a craft that she has perfected over the last thousand years.
Lillian is also prone to vampiric tendencies, possibly connected to how she maintains her immortality and further emphasized by her Blood Alchemy.
Lillian's only motivations are knowledge, applying that knowledge and doing whatever her Messiah needs.
She keeps herself busy with experiments, creating monsters and other projects. And she doesn't like being interrupted.
Lillian is old and traditional, and isn't very accepting of certain things that have surfaced over the years in modern society. She stands strong on the side of science and logic when it comes to social and political matters, and depending on the subject, can come across as amoral.
Anything science and magic related.
Chemistry, making things for fun, impaling people, making swing sets out of living people and other fucked up shenanigans.
Lillian is a known bisexual, but prefers the company of women.
GROWING UP IN BABYLON
Lillian was born in ancient Mesopotamia to a power mage couple in the Bloodmare (pronounced as blood-mire) house. The Bloodmare House was established near the beginning of Babylonia's creation, but rose in power as a noble house during Hammurabi's rule, retaining their position through his death and the establishment of the Neo-Babylonian empire despite the new leadership. The Bloodmare's were a white-glove, prestigious family that valued law and order... Until Lillian came along.
A curious child was she, to go outside to witness their barbaric neighbors at work. She had no interest in straw dolls or any of the other tasks or behaviors that were expected of women. She delighted in seeing other supernaturals go on about their business, especially when that business became a blood feud that ended only once one of the fighters' heads rolled from their shoulders. Her parents attempted to keep her from it but soon realized that their efforts were futile. By the time her sister Lydia was born, Lillian was obsessed by the violence and even more curious; she wondered just how much agony the physical body could endure, and what things it actually needed to carry on. The relationship between the sisters was strained as a result of the older's obsession, at least in Lydia's opinion.
Her experiments on animals she preyed upon got bigger and bloodier, and no blood feud was without her witness. One such blood feud included a young woman, whose life's blood fell upon Lillian's cheek in the shuffle. Later on, she noticed that the skin that the blood had touched had become whiter. Smoother. More beautiful. Curious, her experiments moved on from creatures to humanoids - particularly young women... To avoid her parents, she used a nearby temple to conduct her 'rituals', where she would murder those women and then bathe in their blood. And indeed, it did make her skin whiter. Pleased with the discovery, she preformed a few more experiments. But her morbid curiosity didn't stop there; she played with the corpses left behind, trying to create a living creature from the remains. One that looked more like a beast.
Eventually, she succeeded. Ecstatic, she decided to share her work with her sister. Lydia was horrified and rushed home to tell their parents, who were equally disturbed. They decided that their eldest daughter was too much of a danger and had to put her down, along with her beast. Unfortunately for them, that would be how they met their end. Although they succeeded in killing the flesh-beast, Lillian was by then far more versed in magics than they were. Her knowledge of the physical body also came in handy. She killed Lydia first, making her parents watch. Last on her list was her mother, a puppet to her daughters' blood alchemy. "And now... My greatest creation shall be born from all of you." She said, carving them up and separating body parts. The young combined their brains with that of a beast, with some modifications. From their corpses as well as several others, Lillian created her first real successful fleshling... A creature that she affectionately named Luva. Luva was her second successful reanimation.
THE EMPRESS & THE SHADOW EMPIRE
Originally, everything afterward was done for Luva's benefit. Eventually, she felt as though she had perfected the creature and moved onto bigger and better things, taking note of the people around them. She used scrolls of papyrus to record her findings, and also to keep documentation of important individuals, cities, plants and animals in the world.
As she aged, so too did her sadism and lust for knowledge. She grew fascinated with impaling people, eventually mastering the artform that she could impale a humanoid in such a way that they would still be alive when they shouldn't be. Single handedly, she and Luva conquered a city. Lillian made it into a playground for her experiments, and a garden of impaled, bleeding bodies - each with a bucket or two under them to catch the falling fluid. Luva and later fleshlings were trained to collect the buckets and bring them to her, providing their master with blood to bathe in and blood to drink. They were starting to expand their lands.
Her macabre behavior was earning attention from both sides of the spectrum. Before the Kings or the faiths could intervene, a Dark force - a demon known only as the Empress - met with Lillian, offering her not only everything she ever wanted, but a lab and all of the supplies and tools she would ever need... If she would kneel and work for Her. Lillian took a day to respond. In the end, she decided to take the Empress's offer and underwent training to become one of the first Shadow Knights.
The Empress had established a kingdom known as the Shadow Empire, a place where other supernaturals flourished. Her elite military force were the Shadow Knights, and they doubled as information brokers to protect the crown. It seemed that the Empire's goal was to co-exist side by side with humans, while giving a place for nonhumans to be themselves and among others of their kind. The Empress seemed to want peace and had the best interests of fellow nonhumans at heart.
Lillian was an instant favorite of the generals and other Knights, who wanted nothing more than to learn from her. As a Knight, Lillian's cruelty was allowed to flourish and evolve. While it's said that she may rival, or even surpass, the abilities of Lady Thora Phrostfur, Lillian has always preferred to work in the shadows and pull the strings as she sees fit. Her prowess as a Knight along with her extremely high success rate with missions earned her swift fame within the Empire. She was the first to be awarded with her own piece of land, upon which she built Bloodmare Manor, housing a large basement complex in which she still experiments with cadavers and created golems, among several other things. Lillian rose quickly within the Empire, fundamentally becoming the right hand of the Queen - a position that she still holds today.
Alongside fellow mage Mistress Shadow (MS), General of the Shadow Knights, Lillian created potions for genderbending and accompanying aphrodisiac, augmentation, magical antidotes, elemental potions of various degrees of intensity, and many failed potions for immortality. Eventually, the duo perfected the formula and the first potion of immortality was created. An added benefit of the immortality potion was increased endurance and stamina. Lillian and MS are living proof of the potion's effectiveness.
THE GREATEST EXPERIMENT
The basement complex of Bloodmare manor is a largest laboratory. Lillian worked with few other individuals to create it, and has gathered a number of people to assist in maintaining the lab. These people are lesser beings, often slaves that are prohibited from entering the upper levels of the Manor, allowing her to create an array of fleshlings similar to Luva.
Her thirst for knowledge is second only to Shago herself; the two have gone on many journeys together to obtain new knowledge and to master any craft they could get their hands on. As such, Lillian is a master with medicine, chemistry, various fields of of sciences, and much more. It was Lillian and Shago training Knights originally, which ceased when the Generals too mastered those things and could successfully teach them to new Knights.
But all of her knowledge being passed to other people wasn't enough for Lillian. She wanted to create something that she could raise and teach, that may eventually surpass her. However, she was against the traditional methods of having children, and refused the selective breeding program made possible by the genderbending potions - mostly because she wanted the perfect offspring that she knew could not be produced by those methods. Thus, Lillian conducted her ultimate experiment - on herself - and succeeded. Months later, Luvia Bloodmare was born. Luvia was raised to be the spitting image of her mother, to share her knowledge and experience.
The only problem was that Luvia was born as a human.
RISE OF THE SHADOW KNIGHTS
Please note: the information presented here is only one sect of the Shadow Knights and should not be considered canon to the site as a whole.
Where Lillian viewed her daughters' species as an unfortunate result of her then inexperience with recessive genes, the Empress believed that it was an answer to a long standing problem. Luvia was the only human in the Shadow Empire at the time, and more than proved that humans could be an asset. Even further, she was the perfect representative of the Empire when doing business with human kingdoms - living proof that humans could live in peace with supernaturals.
King Nabopolassar of Babylon was their first ally, with Luvia promising that the Shadow Empire could deliver supernatural soldiers to help fight off the opposing Eqyptian Coalitions. Luvia was turned into a vampire during the third encounter with the coalition, a change that the Shadow Empire welcomed; Luvia was in her 30's at the time of her turning, and her mother was already considering having her turned soon to keep her in the Empire. The partnership with Babylon was a huge success, and the alliance continued when the king's son, Nebuchadnezzar II, took the throne and lasted until 562 BC.
In his old age, Nebuchadnezzar II made an enemy of the Empire as a result of his paranoia. Though the Empress attempted to reason with the rulers that came after him, none of them were willing to have a partnership with monsters. The two kingdoms were at odds since, until Nabonidus begged for their aid against the Persian invasion. But the bridge had been far too burnt by then, so the Empress refused. Babylon was conquered as a result, and the Empress moved the Empire from Asia to somewhere in eastern Europe.
The Shadow Empire tried once more to befriend and work with humans - with the people of an iron age people called the Picts. What began as a beautiful partnership once more ended in failure; the leaders fundamentally betrayed the empire, and took the lives of hundreds. The Empire retaliated by sending Lillian. The Pict cities became a graveyard of impaled bodies, mutants and monsters - a playground base for experiments and resource gathering.
In the aftermath, the Empress made a decision. "The human race isn't ready for us. They'll never be ready for us... So they will be without us." She said. With Her orders, the Shadow Knights erased the Picts from the map and all but removed them from history - resulting in the death of the Pictish language in the mortal world. Following the removal of the Picts, the Statute of Secrecy was created - forcing supernaturals to hide their identities from humans and instead, blending into human society. The Shadow Knights were tasked with enforcing the statute.
The Shadow Empire moved once again, but this time for good - going into the sea. Instead of returning to land, the empire made it's own within what's now called the Bermuda Triangle - and remains to be a flourishing, secret society hidden from human eyes by magic.
A large number of the Shadow Knights remained behind to enforce the Statute. Soon after, the Empire put together a group of representatives from each supernatural species. Today, this group is known as the International Council. Each member was to serve the council as a representative of their species until their last breath. Following the death of a Council member, the Empress randomly selects another to fill the position. Today, there is no written history or physical presence of the Shadow Empire anywhere else in the world. It's as though the Empire never existed at all.
Over the centuries, the Shadow Knights in the field were discouraged from returning to the Empire. Knights of today's world have no knowledge of the empire, of the Empress nor of the history of the position that they uphold. Less have ever met the Council members and as of a few centuries ago, Shadow Knights are usually unaware of each other. All that remain are the whispers of a shadow society that keeps the supernatural underground in check.
Lillian Bloodmare runs the databases that house all of the Knight's reports, findings and so on so that the empire remains up to date on the happenings of the outside world. The Empress is almost never included in these things unless they hold international importance or have large scale potential to expose the underground. So far, the Council has been able to act on issues of importance without the Empress's involvement, and the mortal world lives in ignorance.
LIFE AS A MAD SCIENTIST
Lillian and Luvia Bloodmare are among the last remaining Knights with knowledge of their roots, and are among the oldest members. The Bloodmare's were sent out into the world for specific research and missions. With the rise of the German regime and the disturbing supernatural presence of Ma'luum, the Bloodmare's were dispatched to investigate. Luvia took residence in Ma'luum, hiding it's existence from the world in exchange for being free to conduct research on drugs, reanimation and so forth. Lillian observed the German regime and any supernatural involvement, snuffing it out before it became a problem. Lillian remained on the field after the fall of Hitler and the conclusion of WW2, gathering knowledge while having a little fun.
In the 1400's, Lillian Bloodmare walked among the citizens of Romania where she was eventually employed by Vlad III Dracula. He was a like minded individual, but lacked the courage to do what needed to be done... In human history, he was given credit for her cruelty and vampiric tendencies, becaming known as Vlad the Impaler. Luvia at one point was known by another name shortly after, as Elizabeth Bathory.
Lillian traveled the world, learning everything she could and from it, went into a long period of more research and experimentation. She began research on genes and stem cells and other avenues of science.
THE JOURNEY TO SNOW HAVEN
In the late 2000's, Lillian started to make more time for family. Her daughter found a partner, and shortly after, created a family of her own. Lillian isn't the biggest fan of her daughters' wife, but does sometimes enjoy the company of her adopted grandchildren. However, she fears that her daughters' new found... Loves... Have made her soft and could get her killed. Lillian agreed to accompany her daughter to Snow Haven to prevent this from happening in addition to spending more time with Luvia, and doing other work for the Empress as well as her own projects.

Mage
Lillian was always aware of the supernatural world. Back in her day, supernaturals lived more openly with humans and thus, she has a slightly different - and more open - understanding of supernatural species and the underground as a whole. Her knowledge has only grown with age and experience.
Lillian herself has made a point to run countless tests and experiments on the various species, in order to obtain as much information as she can. These experiments have extended and grown to the present day.
She's also not the biggest fan of the Statute of Secrecy but will enforce it if the Empress demands it. Lillian believes that humans have come a long way and are both more accepting and weaker now than they ever were before, and thinks that it's time to run a controlled test - to seal off a settlement of humans and supes, and see how the human populace reacts to the knowledge of the supernatural world.
--------Notable Latent Abilities--------
Blood Rejuvenation - Lillian Bloodmare is a Knight of the Shadow Empire, a mage that sold her soul to the demon known as the Empress. As a result, she has gained a few unique traits. The Blood Rejuvenation ability is one of those traits. Whenever she is hit, be it by a blunt weapon or a magic assault, any wounds that are open do not bleed; a black mist explodes from the wound and after a few seconds, the mist wisps back into the wound, closing it as though it were never there. Larger and more serious wounds take longer to heal, and can be physically taxing.
But because of this, normal weapons like guns and blunt weapons like knives and swords have little to no affect on her. Enchanted weapons, however, will deal more damage.
In addition, she also grows stronger with the intake or reclamation of hers or the blood of others.
Increased Endurance - A common belief for mages is that they're glass canons, able to dish out heavy magical attacks but have little resistance against physical combat. This is not true for Lillian. Lillian's endurance is on par with a werebeast, with a body that can take a great deal of punishment. This doesn't mean that she is infallible, just sturdier.
Immortality - The burned imprint of lips above her heart is a physical sign of the contract she made with the Shadow Empress, as it is the mark left behind when the Empress claims the soul of a subject. Lillian's soul resides in the Empress herself, while Lillian retains a reflection of that soul within her own body in order to still be herself.
Because her actual soul resides within the Empress, Lillian can die numerous times but will never stay dead. Any wounds sustained on her person will heal from Blood Rejuvenation and she'll revive - usually as she's healing. The only way to kill her for good is to kill the Empress.
-------Unique Magic--------
Blood Alchemy - Blood Alchemy is a prized form of black magic in the Bloodmare family. It is their namesake. Through the magic of Blood Alchemy, Lillian is able to manipulate blood in all shapes and forms. She can use the flowing plasma in herself and others to incredibly violent degrees, utilizing it as a catalyst for a great many physical as well as mystical feats; to teleport across vast distances for one along with the unique twist in using it to enthrall, strengthen and empower others by enwrapping them in mystic armor with it; instantly creating loyal vassals who'll do her bidding.
She can even use this to animate lifeless object by infusing her blood into them.
Lillian herself doesn't have any special powers to speak of that are unnatural for her species (except for maybe blood rejuvenation). But she does have spells, potions and hexes that are special to her. And her treasured scythe.
Lillian wears many hats. She is a chemist, a scientist, a historian, a system, a field researcher, administrator and programmer. Her research, missions and tasks are as varied as the hats she wears. Her time is primarily devoted to experiments in her lab, and also out in the field to study and learn new trades, magics, unique specimens and so forth.
In her long life, she has learned and mastered many branches of magic and their spells, including but not limited to: Augmentation, Charms, Elemental, Illusion, Summoning and the creation of golems, time, chaos and telekinesis. Rather than list all of the spells and branches that she knows, only those specific to her will be listed.
For the past decade, Lillian Bloodmare has been solely researching what's known as the "Black Blood" and people with it. It's a topic of interest that she and her daughter have dabbled in and out of for hundreds of years - mostly due to the rare findings of subjects to study. Through their research, Lillian was able to extract enough of it to create a Demonic Parasite and attach it to a living host.
That host is currently Akasha Bloodmare. The parasite is the primary reason why Akasha is immortal. But studying one specimen isn't as good as studying several, leading to a partnership with Fale.
Presently, Lillian is ACTUALLY in Snow Haven - located within the woods - to conduct research through Fale in exchange for helping them hide. Lillian is constantly between Bloodmare Manor and Fale itself for this research.
Animals generally do not like Lillian, as they can sense that something just isn't right and they, along with their owners, are right to avoid her. Most people, animal owner or not, can feel it too - that something is very wrong, but are never sure what that something is.
It should be noted that Lillian has some really strange kinks, one of which is others (primarily women) crying. A young woman in tears is a turn on.
Lillian was actually the inspiration for the character of Dracula, and is known in history as "the Impaler". Credit for her work was given to a subordinate in the history books. This came about after the story of Carmilla the vampire, inspired by Luvia (Elizabeth Bathory), due to Lillian normally keeping Bloodmare Manor and thus the field of impaled bodies that she normally keeps, magically hidden.
Lillian herself may be a carrier of the Black Blood, in some capacity, as a result of her pact with the Black Queen. The pact has a physical form on her body as the burned imprint of lips over her heart. It is, and also isn't, magical in nature and is what makes Lillian immortal. Not many Knights will have this mark.
