(Kay)
I walked forwards to where Blake was standing and glanced over to Crash and gave him a small smile and mouthed, it’s going to be ok. He gave the smallest smile back. I turned my head so I was no facing Blake.
Blake put his hands in his pockets. "Now, then. First of all, I'd like to see what you can already do. Then we'll know what we need to focus on. Go ahead and use your powers on Morgan or Kaiser, it won't hurt them."
I nodded and faced the other two. Morgan, from the other day, was smiling grimly at me while Kaiser was showing no emotion. I created a dragon and made it breath some black fire at the two of them, if they weren’t like they are, they would probably be ash. A kept creating swords, daggers, anything I could think of, and aiming them precisely at the two.
(nice, you nailed their personalities perfectly ^^)
Blake nodded. "Very good. Excellent transfiguring technique. What about Sympathetic Aura Syphoning? Have you tried anything like that?"
I shock my head, “Never heard of it.”
Morgan rolled his eyes. "We call it Downcycling. It's what I did to you when you wouldn't come quietly the other day. Basically I flooded the area with negative energy and stole your energy for myself at the same time."
“Great.” I said slowly.
You heard a loud impact from the other room and saw that Crash had just thrown Trius bodily against the glass wall. He barely had time to scramble out of the way before Crash was upon him, growling. The demon seemed to be feeling better now that he had room to move around. The others laughed loudly at Trius's predicament, and he replied with some rather unpleasant language.
Blake coughed to draw attention back to himself. "Ahem. Would you like to try Downcycling, Maddie? It's really quite simple, just a matter of getting a psychic picture of you and your target's auras and then exchanging them."
“I don’t know. I’ll probably fail miserably.”
"You won't know until you try. Why don't you have a go at Kaiser? He'll let you know if you're doing anything wrong."
Kaiser stepped forward, facing you with his hands at his sides. "I'll tell you now," he said quietly, "that your power is more than great enough to do this. It simply requires you to channel it outward in pure energy form."
I nodded slightly. I pictured him in my mind, and soon it was crystal clear. Around him was a dark grey circle, I focused on that.
(I'll probably have to go after this)
It wavered like a grey mirage, mottled in places with black. It was very different from your own colorful aura, and seemed to emanate faint feelings of malice and aggression. You saw Kaiser bow hi head, and the edges of his aura softened slightly, as if to make it easier for you to attack.
(Ok)
I focused more on taking it, like Morgan had said and soon began to see it fade even more. When It was nearly gone I shot a small ball of my power at him and he fell backwards.
(Gonna take advantage of my solitude and give this next paragraph some real care)
He recovered quickly, but for a minute you could feel his aura recede, like a release of some kind of pressure. It was strangely invigorating, to have so much spare energy for yourself. You felt more alert and quick-thinking, and if someone had suddenly lunged at you in that moment, you had no doubt that you could've easily thrown them over your shoulder. Around you, the auras of Kaiser and Morgan fluttered weakly, like injured moths before your flame.
Then you made the mistake of glancing at Blake and almost got blinded by his aura. It was so huge that it swallowed the entire building, if not more. At its center, Blake looked much taller, a thin dark shape with only one visible feature: his smile.
"Well done, Maddie." His voice reverberated oddly in your ears. "It seems you have more talent for this than I realized."
(I'll probably be gone when y'all arrive, sorry. Be back a little later)
(Ok, I don’t know how long I’ll be on today, if I’m on at all since my classes are weird)
I shook my head trying to get out of this faze. After a few seconds everything went back to normal and I could see properly without being blinded by Blake’s aura. “Thanks,” I said. “I didn’t even know I could do that.”
(Ok)
"Your powers are really quite similar to those of a shadow spirit," Blake said. "But not identical. I must admit I've never heard of a human with such abilities as yours."
"Hey," called the girl from last night. "Can you teleport?"
(After this, I was thinking maybe we should fast forward a couple hours for @Amber's sake, perhaps have Crash "die", cuz I still really want that to happen, and then get Maddie reunited with Luke and Nathan? I feel kinda bad for excluding them for so long)
(Yeah, good idea)
I turned around to face her, “Never tried.”
"You shouuuuld," she said invitingly, approaching in a series of dark flashes that brought her across the distance in a fraction of the normal time. "It's easy, once you get the hang of it. Maybe you'll have beginner's luck and not lose a limb the first time, like most of us did." The others snickered.
"Now, now," Blake said mildly. "I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Teleportation is a very basic power involving a breach of the veil between dimensions and a short journey through to the other side. There's very little danger in doing it, unless you behave recklessly."
I shrugged. “I mean, I guess I can try.” I picked a spot behind the group of Blake minions. Once I had the spot I twitched slightly and I was there. I tapped one of them on the shoulder and as they were about to see me, I moved back to where I was before. I swayed slightly but at least I did it. “Cool.” I said.
The shadow spirits stared at you, clearly disappointed that you hadn't been horribly injured. Blake laughed at their expressions and congratulated you. "Very good, Maddie. You have quite the knack for this. Let's try a few more times, shall we? Then we'll go back to Downcycling for a while."
I smirked at the spirits. Then did the same thing over and over. “Can we take a break?” I asked, “I don’t know how much longer I can without one.” I felt like I was going to pass out but I couldn’t tell Blake.
(Go to go be back soon)
(All right, seeya ^^)
"Certainly, you deserve it."
On the other side of the glass, you saw that Crash and Trius were taking a breather as well. While Crash seemed more cheerful than ever, Trius didn't look so good: His temple was bleeding fiercely, and he had a pretty bad limp on his left side. He glared daggers at the other shadow spirits.
"Master Blake," he called. "Permission to get myself killed so somebody else can take over?"
Blake sighed. "Oh, I suppose."
Trius straightened and lunged blindly at Crash, met him midway with a tackle so hard that broke Trius's spine. Loudly. He choked and flopped to the floor, dissolving into black sand.
Blake studied his nails. "Sorina, you're up next."
The tall girl with the Russian accent you'd met once before stepped forward. She carried a machete, and had an assault rifle strapped to her back. The others gave her plenty of room. She teleported behind the glass with Crash and prepared to engage in combat, her face lacking any expression.
