Yes that, but also inexperience writers can use sex in all the wrong ways in their writing. Using it as a way to convince the reader that "Yea these guys are together" without any real development or proper characterization.

I stand by what I said, I don't think middle schoolers should be writing about sex. They just don't get it.

Okay, weird question, but how should one write a sex scene with a person on the spectrum? I myself happen to be autistic, I'm just bringing it up because of things to consider, such as:

  • Sensitivity to textures, feelings, stuffages like that.
  • Being overstimulated.
  • And anything else that you might write into their POV.

I think that first time sex for someone on the spectrum would be overwhelming because they've never done this before. And also, varying degrees of intensity? Maybe for someone who experiences touch incredibly intensely to someone who is mostly indifferent? I want feedback, peeps!

I'm going to let Jynnie answer this one because I'm not on the spectrum and I do not want to say something wrong.

But I will say that it's important to stay with the character. Sex may not work out the first time because they got overwhelmed, and that's okay. It just may be something that they have to work towards and get used to as times goes on.

i have sensory issues of various kinds and i personally focus a lot on little touches, particularly anything involving hands. they'll have certain spots on their body that will be a lot more sensitive than expected (cue person A lightly dragging their nails on that area and person B m e l t i n g on the floor). Also if they're autistic they might have synesthesia (which i also have so if u have any questions go ahead), so they might vaguely think "oh his moans are light pink" while stuff is happening.

What about reading it? Just curious on your thoughts on that

Hmmmm. I'm really iffy on that. Mostly because the act itself is/can be very adult, meaning explicit and crude and I really don't think that children should be exposed to that. They don't need to be. That's not a story a child needs to be invested in. A story that has sex in it usually visits other serious adult themes that children cannot process and/or understand.

But on the other hand, no one else is really teaching the youth about sex these days so (shrugs) idk man.

I would say that im iffy leans towards that they should not.

@SaltyLasagna

I think age is iffy bc people begin exploring their sexuality at different ages? And the education thing too
I also think there’s a huge difference between reading/learning about sex and all of the emotions that come with it and actually having sex

Exploring sexuality and being exposed to smut are two different things though. Children should not be exposed to adult content and adult themes.

Of course there's a different between the two and children should not be exposed to either? Regardless of how so called 'mature' a child is, it is not appropriate to have them reading about two young adults/adults having kinky sex etc.

Yeah, I mean I’m kinda iffy considering I think it’s weird if it’s like someone 13 or younger but like…I did read stories with smut and like a lot of stories put plot in the smut so like I just got used to watching/reading it all jic

I think high school age is the youngest. Anyone in middle school or younger shouldn't be for sure.

Nonono

Freshmen?

Freshman

I ain't gonna allow you to go around on a writer's website calling yourself multiple people

Okay im in 8th grade but technically supposed to be in 9th….I was too young for the age cutoff.

If you were too young then you are technically an 8th grader, not a Freshman.

Too young for High School, too young for smut
