Tseth thinks to himself for a moment. He wasn’t great with kids, especially when they were as… interesting as Salmook. “Okay, how does this sound? We can get the food in your room, and then you won’t be hungry. And then we’ll see about going in my room. Yeah?”

Salmook sniffs at that. Tseth-friend… doesn't trust him? But he trusts Tseth-friend!
"…Okay… Salmook eat first… then go Tseth-friend room? Me promise no rippy-rippy."

@im-with-stoopid pets

Salmook nods, reaching for Tseth-friend's hand and pointing towards his own room. What if Tseth-friend closes the door on him? What then? Salmook looks up to Tseth-friend's face and shivers. He still looks scary, whether or not Salmook trusts him.
"Salmook room there. Me go, you come?"

(oh - question. is the food like specific to something that they'd like or is it just whatever- given how creepy the whole kidnapping thing already is, I wouldn't put spy stuff past them-)

Yep, it's definitely Salmook's room. The mess is still very much intact - shredded clothes, dirty bed, chewed table, and all.
But there's something new there, and its smell almost knocks Salmook over.
Is that… fish?
Oh yeah, that's definitely fish - herring, to be exact. Salmook pushes past Tseth-friend and into the room to investigate. He sniffs a little more frantically, and… there!
Almost hidden away in a corner, a small stark-white bowl contains a few hunks of fish meat and some flat mushrooms. To say that Salmook is elated would be an understatement. He hurries over to the bowl and starts tearing into the meat.
A little salty, a lot savory - are they smoked? Tastes like it. While it takes a few seconds of hesitation, Salmook chews on the mushrooms, too, and he finishes eating as abruptly as he started.
He returns to Tseth-friend at the doorway, heaving and his hands dripping with whatever oily sauce the food was cooked in.
"Oof… Me-Salmook full… heavy feel. Go… Tseth-friend room still?"

(Definitely didn't have to Google what herring tastes like-)

Daphne stays in the hallway, leaning against the wall. She seems a little annoyed. She looks past Tseth into Salmook’s room and winces. That’s a wreck- She blinks a few times then turns her attention to… literally anything else.

Tseth mostly avoided looking anywhere in Salmook’s room while he ate. How did I get myself into this?
He wrung his hands together a couple times and glanced around at the same surroundings and people that have always been there. Why do I keep looking around? Nothing’s going to change.
And then as soon as Salmook entered the room, he was out. …And he was a mess. Megabird, did this kids parents not take care of him at all? Tseth looks at him and takes a deep breath to compose himself. “You should clean that stuff off first, kid-“ That was terrible.

@im-with-stoopid pets

Salmook blinks at that. Clean?
And then it clicks. Oh, clean!
He turns back into his room and grabs a strip of what might've been a pillow case. He wipes his hands and face dry, although the smell lingers a bit. Oh, well. It's the best he can do without any water.
Salmook turns back to Tseth-friend.
"Me clean!"

“Great- uh, guess you get to see my room now…” Whatever he’s planning. If he does anything I can probably just pick him up and put him back in the hallway- He glances back at Daphne. “Want to get your food and then come back?”

@the-void-phantasmic language

Daphne glances at Tseth and shrugs. “Sure.” She rolls her eyes and heads to her room, almost closing the door behind her. That’s a bad idea- don’t wanna lock myself in here. She leaves it open just a crack, then stares at the plate of food on her table. Could I get away with not eating? Probably not. She sighs and picks up the plate, then sits on the edge of her bed. She picks at her food for a while before actually eating anything.
