"Deal? If it's with Eberaus then I'm all ears." Nykidia said. "What do you want with Nysaxiope anyway? And what did you want with Eberaus?"
"Deal? If it's with Eberaus then I'm all ears." Nykidia said. "What do you want with Nysaxiope anyway? And what did you want with Eberaus?"
"Due to renovations, my town is trying new things. We can't just use humans or each other as practice using our powers." The woman said innocently. "So we've been getting new things. It's making our next generation stronger, better. And there will be no more mistakes, like there was in a recent generation."
The woman's husband peeked his head out of the water. "Actually, it's my town, I just married you so–"
"And you will shut up right now before I slice your head off with a cheese grater." The woman snapped. "We just want to know where our daughter is, because we haven't seen her in a while." She said, turning back to the girl.
Nykidia chuckled at the arguing between husband and wife. "Well that's confusing. Nysaxiope opened a store on the opposite side of town. And she's doing pretty good." Nykidia said. Though Nysaxiope restaurant was actually really close to here but she didn't want to tell them where Nysaxiope was. She had a feeling that Nysaxiope didn't want to be near her paranets. What kind of parents kidnap people so they can see there daughter? "Can we have our companion now?"
The woman remained standing close. Her eyes never left, always watching, carefully observing. The tentacles remained raised from the pool, swaying back and forth. The stormy water seemed to be calming down, if only slightly. There still seemed to be a bit of agitation in the water.
When the other started to mutter under her breath, the woman became more alert. The dimness of her eyes seemed to brighten up again. The pupils had become almost slits again, but there was a bit of roundness. She sensed the energy, and of course was unsure at first. Though as the humanoid's wounds started to mend shut again, the woman's body changed completely.
Her hand had continued to rest lightly on his cheek. Her eyes were filled with relief. As his wounds finished completely healing, she couldn't stand it. Very gently, the woman pulled the shark humanoid close, embracing him. One of her hands wrapped around his back, the other resting on the back of his head. She continued to hold him close, growing completely silent.
Though finally, her eyes shift to the woman who helped. Her eyes glowed softly, the pupils becoming mostly round now. Unlike earlier, her voice had changed completely.
"Thank you stranger…I would offer you payment…but sadly I do not have much here…"
Eberaus was suddenly drug into the water. Well, thank goodness his kind were indeed able to hold their breath for long periods of time. Though he himself wasn't really used to it, since he didn't spend much time in underground caverns like some Rock Drakes.
He kept to his cave and going around his mountainous territory. Though he had heard of drakes getting caught in cave-ins down below. However, that was extremely rare.
Cherry studied the female and the newly healed shark male. "You need not to pay me in money or anything of the sort. I would just like to wonder why you and your son were attacking those people. If I agree with your reason I will be happy to help you in any way I can. I understand the urge to protect a loved one." She said, her tone more serious and less emotional then before when she had wanted to study everyone in the room.
Aaron didn't trust these sirens, red flags going up seeing the female switch from being sweet to snapping so quickly. His paw twitched, annoyance showing as his tails flicked. Not enough magic to shift. I've been using it on healing. Sometimes he forgot why he didn't let himself become weak in fights, as technically being a kitsune he was a fox, healing and shifting to a human took effort even if you're used to it.
"It'd be nice if you didn't drown him before giving him back. Though I assume there's strings attached or something you aren't telling us." He remarked, resorting to talking in his fox form. He knew how trades and deals worked, having tricked others before, and knew some may be vague in their intentions for a reason. He wasn't going to avoid being wary only to suffer consequences later.
"Nothing of the sort." The woman waved her hand at the suggestion. "Just the exact location of my daughter for this dragon who apparently belongs to her." She pointed at the dragon in the pool. "He does bare her claiming mark."
"What? She doesn't own him. She helped him today during a fight." Nykidia said, very confused. "And she lives at 203 on the east side of Queen road. Now give us Eberaus back. And I hope Aaron is right and he can breath in some way."
The woman gestured to her own nose as example. "It's on the tip of his nose, did you not see? It may have been left there on accident, but it is there." She thought for a moment. "I think we would like to deliver him personally."
"We would?" Her husband asked.
"Yes, we would." She snapped at him.
Aaron tilted his head in curiosity. He may not know how to act around others, but he had a good idea on how the world worked. He was confused he had never heard of this claiming mark. Though he didn't dwell on it long as he looked between them and Eberaus. "We gave you the location. So give Eberaus back. We agreed on a trade, not you doing a delivery." He growled. His body language shifted, his eyes narrowing in distrust and his tails flicking, almost jumping out of Nykidia's arms before remembering the height. He noted that he was healed enough that he could probably walk and fend for himself, but it seemed Nykidia was annoyingly determined to carry him even if he was only a little bit hurt. "You can pay a visit, I don't care. Though if you really consider him 'her dragon' showing up with him under your thumb is a bad idea." He really just wanted to get Eberaus so they could leave. He wasn't very fond of a building where every fight had someone on the brink of death.
"You lack etiquette, Boy. I don't remember shaking on anything." She shook her head. "So if you'll exit this building right now that would be fantastic." She clapped her hands together like she had just made a plan to do something she liked. "Before I have to make you."
(Should I post or let someone else?)
I dunno…//
"OK. We'll leave." Nykidia said as she turned around and started walking, slowly. "Aaron." She wispered. " Can you use your strings? If you use your strings and I use my shadows and we could grab Eberaus. I hope he isn't dead yet."
Aaron went silent knowing it was true, they hadn't shaken on anything. He blamed himself for that, he knew how things like trades and deals might have trickery, he failed to even make sure the siren knew they accepted it as a trade. Yet he was still annoyed Nykidia was giving up so easily as she turned around, only to listen as she told him a plan. He nodded, hoping it was unnoticeable to the sirens, looking to Nykidia. "Hopefully he can hold his breath." He answered quietly, trusting Nykidia knew what she was doing. "Tell me when."
"Ok. 3…2…1…Now!" She wispered. She turned around and willed the shadows to find the water and search out Eberaus.
"Could you not." The man said from the water. He gripped the dragon tight and tried to wave away the shadows.
The woman sighed loudly. "Really? Is this what we're doing?" She pointed her knife and charged, leaving a gash on the girls arm.
Aaron almost lost his train of thought as Nykidia spun around. Yet he didn't let it stop him from helping. Strings appeared and followed the shadows to grab Eberaus, the others aiming for the sirens. Even if he didn't pin them down it might be enough of a distraction for them to succeed. He would try to not hurt Eberaus, luckily that was easier with a plan than when he was angry.
He yelped in surprise and flinched as the siren charged, not really in a situation to dodge, growling as he realized the other had harmed Nykidia. They were on the ground now, so Aaron jumped out of Nykidia's arms. He growled at the siren as he stepped forward, about to cause a lot more problems for the female than some strings. If there was one thing that hadn't changed about his morals it was his loyalty to those he trusted, and anyone who messed with those people he would make sure they wished they were dead.
"Is all you have a knife? Do you know what I could do to you if you think you can hurt her?" He snapped. If Nykidia saved him from Ryder it was only repayment to get her out of harms way. Sparks became chaotic balls of foxfire around the siren, Aaron's expression a dangerous determination showing he wasn't messing around. "I could break your reality. I could burn you alive. I could do so many other things just as bad. I might want to sleep for a week after, but it'll sure as h-ll will be worth it." He threatened, knowing full well he'd do it if he had to.
Yeah, that kinda pissed the woman off, enough for her to shift to her real form. Hundreds of needle like teeth replaced her normal ones, her mouth turning into a gaping black hole. Her cheeks sunk into her face and her muscles and fat disappeared, leaving skin hanging off of bones. Her eyes turned into wide black ovals. When she spoke, there was nothing human to it. "DO YOU KNOW HOW SIMPLE YOUR MIND IS? HOW EASY IT WOULD BE TO SNAP IT IN HALF LIKE A TWIG? THERE IS ONLY ONE SIREN MORE POWERFUL THAN I. YOU REALLY WANT TO FACE ME, BOY? I CAN SEE YOUR HOPES AND FEARS, YOUR PAST MISTAKES AND EMBARRASSING MOMENTS. DO YOU WISH TO RELIVE ALL OF THAT?"
Nykidia yelped as a the knife slashed her arm. "F***!" She yelled in pain. It wasn't the worst she had had but it still hurt. Aaron looked like he was about to murder the siren. And she was going to let him. Right now she had to focus on getting Eberaus. She dragged him and the other siren out of the water. "Please be alive." She muttered. She wrapped a shadow around the male sirens neck so he couldn't cause more trouble than they had.
Aaron froze at the siren’s true form, taking a moment so he didn’t step back. If not for his nature to protect those he cared for he may have backed away at the idea of reliving his past. Though a bravery filled him as he recalled something. He laughed, a low chuckle to himself, narrowing his eyes at the siren.
“You’re going to have trouble finding out what to focus on. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. The ends justify the means after all.” His voice was mocking, the foxfire raging with the urge to cause harm as the heat increased. He stepped closer. If she could really see his goals he didn’t care. It seemed to scare others. Timelines collapsing and restarting, kingdoms crumbling, a whole realm brought to its beginnings because his plan worked. A new start were he could do things his way, to keep cruelty and the human nature from ever corrupting it. It was a wonderful good thing to keep bad from happening, to go back before he snapped as well, yet no one seemed to see it that way but him and Corru. To see that he was doing the right thing.
“So you know what I’ve done and plan to do?” He was beginning to let himself slip. A chaos stirring in him waiting to be unleashed as anger. He let out a dark growl as he sent more strings towards the siren, trying to keep it together knowing the others were somewhere nearby. “If I was able to kill those I have in the past, I can kill you.”
As strings shot towards the woman, she pondered. A little bit of shuffling through the man's brain brought up many things. She didn't quite understand them. "You've seen some things, haven't you? You remind me of someone… All the more reason to crumble you to dust," The woman taunted him. Strings can't restrain a voice. Fortunate for her, voice is all she needs. Fortunate for the intruders, she couldn't think of what to sing. This boy, he has done some things…
The woman was silent as the other asked the reason for the attack. She released a soft sigh before responding, "Ryder was created in a lab…humans mixed his DNA with a great white shark, giving the result you see now. He was younger than, at least from what I could tell. I myself…well, I actually do not belong in this world. I was driven from my original home, and ended up in this place."
"At one point Ryder even attacked me…he still does occasionally, but that's only in the occasional fit he will have. I do not blame him for the way he acts…having been tortured for so long the poor thing. He's been outcasted since he managed to escape the lab that once held him. It was by chance I found him."
A sad smile appeared on her face, "I was never able to have offspring of my own…so Ryder here is the child that I could never have back in my world. I have taken care of him ever since, and as time passed, he took it upon himself to repay me. He listens to my words with no question, not worrying about his own safety. He is always afraid that I will return him back to that horrid place…but I would never do such a thing…"
The strange woman grew silent for several moments, then her violet eyes landed upon the other woman, "I do not hate all dragons…only one beast in particular…the one who drove me from my original world to this one…I thought he was the one to come here…but I was wrong…"
Eberaus had enough. He was tired of being patient, tired of being in such a weak, pathetic human form. The water started to churn as the shadows and strings wrapped around his form. Though what appeared was not what one would've expected. I giant, scaly head appeared out of the water. Magnificent feathery crests along the top of the beast's head were raised, vibrating madly. Yellow eyes glowed brightly, pupils narrowed into thin slits that were nearly lost in the vast yellow. Then right on top of his muzzle, laid the siren that had once held him down.
The rock drake's eyes glared right there. His voice had deepened greatly as he snarled, "You know…I'm sure your bottom half would taste pretty good. I wouldn't mind a good fish tail."
It was quite clear the rock drake was annoyed and angered. Massive claws rose upwards, resting on the edges of the pool, lips curling back to show massive fangs.
"I grow tired of this, I should just poison the lot of ya and be done with it."
Cherry smiled, the smile was understanding but very unsettling. "I understand," Cherry said, her voice distorted to the point of barely being able to hear it. She knew what it was like to be driven away from her home, that was the thing she had in common with this strange woman. However, the woman seems to be somewhat sane… So she probably didn't lose someone the way Cherry did. But, you never know, she could have lost someone or something of even greater importance than her own brother. "Would you mind If I hunt down this dragon fellow for you?" She asked as the sound of a portal opened up. "I have a friend who could help."
“I had to. Pain, suffering, discrimination, all of it! We wanted to avoid it! We paid the price and didn’t get the results, we let everyone that had this as their haven run it into the ground. In case you’re too dumb to piece it together, I helped create this damn place!” He snarled. He didn’t even try to keep himself from slipping, ranting everything no one ever listened to. Her comments didn’t bother him, only fueled his anger. Besides, he would kill her before she could ever send him back to death’s door. If the others were listening rather than focusing on their own situation he didn’t care, they would know not to mess with him. He helped create this realm, he would change it if he saw it best. It was for the greater good.
“I was called naive. No one listened to me. I could’ve fixed it! Now look at the situation, getting rid of those like you that ruined it. Just for the chance of scrapping this realm and creating one much better.” The strings dragged the siren to the ground, his eyes cold as his feelings dulled. Losing touch with reality and the fact she may matter to someone as he came closer. He put his muzzle close to her face, knowing if this kept up he was already the winner. He spoke again, his voice the dangerous calm before the storm. “I am what I am, I do what I do, all because no one else will. Those I knew got attached, where they saw life I saw the next generation of corruption. I am a kitsune of the spirits, I saw those like you who’ve done so much wrong, yet when I saw no hope for what we wished they shoved me aside.” He tilted his head, curious yet mocking. “Who does that remind you of?”
(I love writing my kitsune characters, too bad I only have three. XD)
