Cyrus handed him and bowl and laid down with his icepack. He let out a huff and relaxed his sore body “ never again am I training with dad..”
"Mm… wouldn't he get mad if you ditched, though?" Corbin yawned and accepted the bowl, sleepily shoving a spoonful of macaroni into his mouth.
“ Yeah, but I don't think I can take another one of his beatings. I could barely get off the ground this time. I hate to say it but I was in tears by the time I left.”
Corbin looked up at Cyrus with a sad little pout. "Then you shouldn't go! He shouldn't be treating you like that. I'm sure you're plenty… plenty trained by now anyway."
“ that's the thing, the more training checks we get the higher are levels will go”
"Well, you don't need that many." Corbin stuck his tongue out a bit. "You're fine the way you are."
Cyrus sighed “ cori what color are my wings.” he asked rhetorically
"Uhm…" Corbin looked at Cyrus' wings for a few seconds, seeming confused. "…Blue? What does that have to do with anything, though?"
“ the hierarchy. Blue jays are raised to be cold-blooded fighters. Or at least they are until little crows like you come along and throw a wrench in the whole plan” he said with a laugh at the last part, giving corbin a kiss
"Mmmmmm… buuuut the hierarchy is stupid." Corbin insisted, sticking out his tongue again until Cyrus kissed him. He buried his face in his shoulder, trilling softly. "Screw the hierarchy. You should be able to do what you want."
“ I said that when I was younger. “ he said and put his hand on the back of corbins head. “ thanks for caring tho,”
Corbin huddled closer, shifting his wings to be more comfortable. "I mean, what's your dad gonna do if I tell him to stop or something? He's not really allowed to hurt crows, is he? Kinda his whole job to stop that from happening."
“ no he can't hurt you but I'm sure he'd find a way to pin it out on me. And if he found out about us.. “ cyrus voice fell off a bit as he shook the thought from his head
"I'm guessing blue jays aren't exactly supposed to date the crows they're guarding, huh?" Corbin huffed a bit and gripped Cyrus tighter. "It's stupid. You can date who you want."
“ it's not just crows we're protecting. It's anyone. We're literally breed to die” he said and ran his fingers through corbins hair.
"But that's not fair to you… that's horrible. You're not an animal." Corbin shivered a bit when Cyrus pet his hair, soon relaxing into the touch.
Cyrus shrugged, giving a soft sigh. He kissed corbins head “ I'm only capable of so much. Soldier or not I have my limits “ he mumbled and gave a small yawn.
"Yeah, I just… I dunno. You shouldn't have to put yourself through that." Corbin insisted, shifting a bit on the bed.
Cyrus pulled corbin a little closer. Trying to keep himself from dosing off.
Corbin sighed and closed his eyes, perfectly happy to go back to sleep again.
Cyrus had fallen asleep, his arm loosely around corbins waist. He eventually moved his head to rest just above corbins.
Corbin relaxed a bit, seeming content to sleep for a while. He'd been spending most of his time sleeping, but he needed the rest.
It's had been about an hour or so before Cyrus had started to fuss, his body flinching every so often from the nightmare he was having. His wings started poofing tremendously.
Corbin stirred when Cyrus became distressed, whining softly and opening his eyes to look up at him. "Mmnh…? Cy? You okay?" He asked softly, gently shaking him to try and wake him.
Cyrus woke with a start when corbin shook him “huh!? Oh.. I.. I'm sorry cori.. “ he realized he woke corbin up, though he told himself he couldn't have helped it.
