Daso bristled. "That's not…I just…" he deflated, a huge sigh escaping his lips. "I just need to go home."
Daso bristled. "That's not…I just…" he deflated, a huge sigh escaping his lips. "I just need to go home."
Matthias huffed in sympathy. The dude was just a kid, like most of the group. Matt slowed back next to Daso and tried a comforting pat on his shoulder, "Hey man, we all need to go home. But that may not happen as soon as we want. I'll sure we'll get there, it might just take a while. M'kay?"
Daso nodded slowly. He wasn't sure how long he could last, and he heard heroin was a hell of withdrawal. But there wasn't much he could do but accept it. "Right. Thanks, bruh."
Floyd increased his pace to fall into step with the two. “Maybe we all have something in common, and this is some sort of weird ass bonding camp.”
"Ha. Maybe man. Some fucked up bonding camp start though, just up in the woods with no warning." Matt mused aloud.
“Could be some type of intense Boy Scout like thing?” Floyd pondered in a joking tone.
Arabelle grunted. They're not too far off, there, she thought bitterly.
“So, let’s go over what we have in common. I don’t remember much, or how I got here, but I was in prison,” Lyssie started, jogging a little to catch up.
Ro looked at her. "I was about to go to prison," she grimaced.
"I…I was too," Daso admitted, a chagrined smile on his face.
"Bah. I was in and out of prison so much already. Drinkin', assualtin', and forgery and all that good stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if their 'humane' solution to get rid of me was to throw me out into the middle of nowhere to die." Matt huffed in acceptance.
“Hey, I just got arrested, and that’s the last thing I remember. So are we all criminals here? And that’s actually not a stupid idea, Matt. What if they did dump us all here?” Floyd said hastily.
"Maybe the prison was full," Ro suggested. "And they expect us to die here."
"Well that ain't gonna happen unless they got a nuclear bomb waitin' to be dropped on our heads." Matt swayed slightly as he stepped on a log wrong, but quickly balanced himself.
“There has to be civilization somewhere. Forests don’t go on forever.” Floyd coughed into his arm and cleared his throat.
"Hope so." Daso thought back to his days spend in a hazy cloud of marijuana, watching "I Shouldn't Be Alive" reruns. Those people lasted for months, sometimes. And they were usually alone. Together, they should be able to get out, right?
Ro looked around. "Anyone have any idea where we might be? North or South hemisphere? Europe, Asia?"
“No idea. Forest climates are common all over the world. We could be almost anywhere at the moment.” Floyd climbed over a few large rocks that were blocking their general path, and he stood straight on the tallest one for a moment, attempting to see into the distance.
"It's starting to get dark," Daso felt inclined to point out. "Don't more animals come out at night or some shit? I'm not an outdoors guy."
“You’ll be fine if we don’t bother them” Lyssie rolled her eyes. “At least, I think that’s what my dad said. It was like, three years ago so I can’t confirm. Possibly? Jeez, my memory’s bad.”
"Mine too. Maybe they blanked us."
“Is that even possible?”
"Probably."
"Or, we could all just be in one heck of a dream," Arabelle stated sarcastically.
“One where we’re all having the same one? Doubtful,” Lyssie snorted.
