"Fine." Enyln said dryly turning her back to head back into the cave. Most nights her brothers face invated her dreams, others jack and those she killed for him. She was his weapon. Killing when told. A dog if she where to explain it. "Good night Rigel." She sat down agent a wall with her back to him. She didn't want to explain now. Not when she was so tired. Not when her emotions would betray her.
Rigel reached out a hand after her, but ended up coughing into his arm. The cave was just dusty… He sighed, then looked at Vash one last time whispering, “Good night, love.” Rigel went outside the cave. I should be happy she’s going to sleep, but… Something didn’t sit well. Rigel shook off the feeling and went to look up at the stars and chart out there location and path.
(Cross over again. xD.)
Enyln was out before she could even bother getting comfy and then the dreams hit. (gore ahead.)
She opened her eyes to jacks face leaning over her, "you could always be useful in other ways if you refuse to kill." A smug grin was on his face as he pulled a knife from his belt and displayed it in front of her face. move. Run. but she couldn't. He leisurely dragged it across her arms drawling blood and making her scream out in pain. "Stop." She mumbled tears soaking her face. And then he was gone. She was in the dark her brother screaming out in agony. "Michael!" She shouted spinning in a circle to find him. There he was, To her far right. Coughing up blood and dying. "Michael! On my gosh." She raced towards him scooping him up in her arms sobbing. "No please no. Don't die." She wipped blood from the corrnor of his mouth. His disappeared too when she closed her eyes. A field was spread out before her. She'd never dreamed of a field before. She turned her head to see Rigel and his brother fighting. "No." She mumbled watching in horror as he died. Enyln jerked awake sweat and tears streaking her face. She held her head in her hands shaking. "It was just a dream." She whispered over and over again.
(I stayed up way too late last night lol)
Rigel whipped his head towards Enyln when he heard the noise. He dropped his notebook, which was basically complete, before scrambling to get to her, “Enyln, Enyln, what happened? What hurts?” He crashed down on his knees beside her, grabbing his arms gently.
"Nothing its fine. I'm fine. It was just a dream." Enyln wipped at her tears still partly shaking. just a dream. But it felt to real. she shook her head and looked at Rigel. "Sorry for bothering you." She mumbled. Curling in on herself.
Rigel pulled her closer, into his chest. He drew small circles with his thumb into the small of her back, murmuring, “It’s okay now, you’re safe,” He didn’t know what the dream -nightmare- was, but that hardly mattered. Rigel held on tightly to Enyln, wiping away a stray tear on her cheek.
"Sorry." Enyln mumbled feeling stupid for being this messed up over a nightmare. Tears quietly spilled from her eyes as she calmed herself down. "Promise me if- if your brother ever catches up to us that you'll run. No matter what." She looked into his eyes needed his word "if it comes down to…you know. Just run. Please."
“Enyln… it’s okay,” He whispered, holding her closer, “I’m not gonna let you go,” Rigel kept on rubbing soothing circles into her back, then started quietly humming a little tune his mother had used to sing him to sleep.
"Promise me." Enyln pleaded, "please promise." She rubbed at her eyes to get rid of the last of her tears. She needed to know he'd run and not look back if something ever happened. "You have to promise that you'll run. That if it comes down to it you'll escape." Her dream flashed in her mind again. She wouldn't let someone she cared about die. Not if she could stop it.
“Enyln, I- I can’t. I’m not going to leave you there alone,” Rigel told her quietly, closing his eyes, “I love you, Enlyn, I can’t leave you to die.” He pulled back just enough to study her face.
Love. a word that stung opening a wound that was long healed over. A word that ment so little comeing from someone else. "And I can't watch you die. So please Rigel." She hardened her expression. A word that'd kill her if she had to watch him die.
Rigel stiffened slightly, looking away when she hardened her face. She doesn’t want him, he shoved known by now. He pulled away, straightening his back as he said quietly, “Alright, I promise.” He stood up facing the exit, “If you want to stay up, okay, I need to finish my sketches,” Rigel walked out, kneeling next to his sketchbook and picking it up. Just ignore it…
Enyln's face fell when he walked away. "I love you too." She whispered to low for him to hear. She pressed the palms of her hands to her eyes before standing and stretching. No matter how tired she was she wouldn't let herself fall asleep again.
Rigel took a few steps outside of the cave, examining the stars before coughing a little bit. He used his compass to double check his work, trying to take steady breaths. Just ignore what happened, it’s okay… He’d been such a fool. He quietly packed up his notebook and compass, saying quietly, “I’m going to bed if you can keep watch.”
Enyln sighed walking out of the cave and finding a spot to sit. "Night." She mumbled not even looking at Rigel. She pulled her knife from where it sat at her hip and fiddled with it to keep her mind busy.
“Make sure Meria doesn’t wander off,” Rigel finished quickly, eyeing the sleeping horse in the cave. Rigel settled himself, using his pack as a pillow. Everything ached way too much… He didn’t kid to himself that it was just from riding all day. He didn’t lie to himself when he had coughed earily, either.
"Uh-huh." Enyln responded. The night dragged on with out any thing exciting. The occasional sound in the night made her jump or jerk her head up. But the silence was getting to her. stay awake. she thought before falling asleep. It wasn't a sound that woke her, nor was it the light of the day. Instead it was the feeling of cold sharp metal being pressed agents her neck along with a hand clamping over her mouth.
(Dun dun dun.)
Rigel had fallen asleep a while ago, but he dreamed of Vincent. He dreamed of Vincent slowly killing Enyln, and Rigel hadn’t been able to stop it. He thought he might have vomited in hs sleep or something, but it had all been a blurry, undecipherable haze.
A hot puetred breath hissed in Enyln's ear, "get up. Slowly." she did as she was told standing up slowly then reaching for her knife as fast as she could. It wasn't there. A low chuckle came from the man as someone came behind her pulling her arms back. "What do you want?" She asked between clenched teeth. scream. but she couldn't. Fear of not being able to see how many where there clenched her throat shut. Another chuckle came from the man but this time it seemed to echo. "why don't you alert your friend of what's going on?" it was a challenge, and she took it. Enyln let out a piercing scream giving the man, if he could see her, a smug grin. A knife was pressed to her neck again as someone bound her wrists behind her. run Rigel.
Rigel jerked up, and he saw the horse startled. He was up faster than a rabbit, ripping out his gun and running towards the exit, “ENYLN‽” Panic rushed through him as he the gun up, finger ready to pull the trigger, eyes searching for his mutated mirror through the shadows. It had to be Vincent, but how had he caught up?
"A gun?" again it seemed to echo making Enyln wonder just how many people there where, "put it down boy. You don't have enough bullets to take us all down." Enyln let out a whimper the blade ragged agents her neck. Fear finally setting in. "Rigel. Run." She hissed out.
Rigel whirled the gun, but couldn’t pinpoint a direct location of the voice. He watched Enyln out of the corner of his eye as he said, “I don’t have enough to shoot you all, but I can shoot up most of you. That’s a guarantee that some of you will die. It only depends on which ones,” Rigel took a suddle step towards Enyln, “Will get a bullet throught the head. I trust you all are ready to take a gamble, then?” Just get her out, get her out, get her out.
"Any closer and Enyln dies." they knew her name. Enyln tried to see who they where. But a mix of the dark and being held agents her will didn't let her. "Rigel. You promised." Even if it wasn't his brother. Even if that monster wasn't here. She couldn't watch him get hurt, not for her. The cold sticky feeling of blood dripped down her neck as the knife was pressed further.
Rigel lowered the gun, staring into the darkness and not daring move an inch forward. He finally asked through clenched teeth, “Who are you?” If Enyln died… Rigel wouldn’t hesitate to go down shooting as many of bullets as he could. He only felt bad he broke the promise he made, but even if he did run, they’d probably kill him on the spot. He could at least try to go down saving Enyln.
Enyln felt the grip losen on her arms along with the blade dropping slightly, "you should know very well who we are. After all you did kill our leader." jacks group. How could she not recognise them. But something was different. To different. Enyln threw her head back and ducked falling to the group the second the knife pulled away. "Rigel run!" She knew the dark of the night would shield him. just get to safety. chaos broke lose as the scrambled to regain a hold on Enlyn and the new leader. shouted.
