"I some how feel as if this is going to kill me." Enyln mumbled and took his hand. She'd never had the same dream as most like girls to have a pony one day. Insted she'd always loved hunting and shooting and soon found her love of bows. Though her first time shooting one she got a big bruise on her wrist. She remembered how her brothers laughed at her.
Rigel hoisted her up onto the horse, and then lifted himself in front of her. The horse seemed a bit startled, but didn’t move too much thankfully. Rigel patted Meria’s neck and cooed a little bit before telling Enyln, “You might want to put your arms around my waist, unless you would rather fall.” Rigel smiled a little at that, still patting the horse’s neck.
"I think I'd rather fall." Enyln braced herself beset she could with out anything to hold onto. A slight tremor went threw her, pull it together Enyln you'll be fine. she squeezed her eyes shut fear building in her the pit of her stomach.
“Alright~” Rigel kicked the horse lightly, starting off slow like a crescendo. He knew his thighs would ache from riding all day, and he only felt bad for Enyln who had never ridden before.
Enyln's fear got the better of her before they even started moving and she wrapped her arms around Rigel. Her eyes still squeezed shut, "this is a death trap. What if it spooks and bucks us off? What if she falls crushing us?" Enyln raced with questions and what if's. knowing it was pointless to be so scared. gosh stand up to a monster but can't ride a horse with out freaking out half to death. she silently chastised herself.
Rigel blushed and smiled when Vash’s arms came around his waist, “If she spooks and bucks, I’ll hold on, just keep your arms around my chiseled abs like that and you’ll be fine,” Rigel teased, then laughed deeply, “And she wouldn’t fall and crush us. Don’t worry,” Rigel had Meria start going a little faster, “I’ll keep us safe.” Rigel held tightly to the horse’s mane, evening his weight to keep steady.
(Major cross over there. xD)
Enyln laughed slightly feeling heat rise to her cheeks. "I think I'd like to be bucked off now." She joked even though she held tighter to Rigel. The fear of falling bigger then her pride.
(oh lol XD)
Rigel laughed, taking one hand off the horse’s mane to brush against Enyln’s, “Come now, then we wouldn’t get to Paradis soon enough,” He rode on, kicking Meria just a little harder to keep the speed up. They rode all day and Rigel eventually slowed the horse when they came to a small stream near a cave. It’d be good for tonight, besides, Rigel was extremely sore. Everything felt achy as he stopped Meria, who immediately began chewing on the grass, then slid off the side so he could help Enyln down too. Even his arms were sore… “Alright lovely, we’re stopping for the night.”
Enyln praticly fall off Meria, "everything hurts." She complained crumpaling to a sitting position half asleep. The past few days since she'd met Rigel she hadn't slept much. Wether it was keeping watch all night, or just not Bing able to sleep. The gash on her leg that'd been trying to heal didn't help to much either. With out stitches it'd open up and bleed again, but she didn't let Rigel know. "This is quaint." She mumbled threw squinting eyes looking at the cave.
Rigel bent over and boldly scooped her up off the ground, “We can’t have you falling asleep out here,” He smirked at her, walking into the cave. It was small, but it’d provide enough protection. There was even a stream, so Meria would be able to drink.
"Put me down." Enyln protested tierdly not even bothering to fight back. She was gretful to be carried but felt bad knowing Rigel was probably also in pain. "Does ridding a horse always hurt that much?" Enyln asked yawning.
“Normally it’s better to have a saddle,” Rigel told her as he sat her down, then walked back out of the cave and led the horse to the stream. Meria immediately started lapping up water. Rigel sat himself beside Enyln, getting out his back and digging through it.
Enyln had leand her head back slightly but kept awake. "So. You've riden horses before?" She asked her voice quiet. stay awake. she silently told herself willing sleep from her own grasp.
“Yeah, I was actually on the equestrian team before… well you know, everything,” Rigel pulled out his notebook and opened it to reveal charts, scattered notes, graphs, sketches, everything. He pulled out his drawing compass, flipping to a blank page. He’d need to look at the constellations tonight, make sure they were on the right course.
"That's cool." Enyln mumbled before snapping her head up and shaking it, "I can take first watch." She said standing and stretching. "And don't worry I'll wake you up this time." She laughed slightly to herself.
“No way, I can see just how tired you are. Besides, I need to check the stars and make sure we’re on the right track. You need to lay down,” Rigel stood himself, walking past her to the opening of the cave with his notebook and compass, “I can see bags under your eyes, besides, I’m not very tired.”
Enyln followed Rigel with a slight limp, "then I'll stay up with you." She said with a bit groggy voice. "Besides we need to watch each othets backs right?" She didn't want to go to sleep in fear that the nightmares would return leaving her hollow and afraid.
“Enyln,” Rigel gave her a look, turning to put his hands on her shoulders, “You’re hurting, I know what it’s like to ride a horse for the first time. You need sleep, staying awake is not an option. Why do you always insist to stay up?” Rigel finally asked, looking her directly in the eye. He couldn’t stand to see her so sleep deprived for another day.
"I'm just not tired." Enyln's eyes darted to the ground, "sleep is pointless." She smiled and shrugged his hand off her shoulders. Her brothers face flashed in her head. How he used to try and make her sleep to.
“It’s not pointless, Enyln. I did a psychology project on sleep in junior high I’ll have you know,” Rigel told her stubbornly with a frown, “Seriously, Enyln, you’ll become slower and sluggish in the next few days. Why won’t you sleep?” He asked again, tilting Enyln’s chin up with his hand.
"I just don't like sleep." Enyln shrugged hoping he'd stop asking. "I'll be fine." She smiled awkwardly feeling pink rise to her cheeks from him making her look up. "And besides you can't make me sleep when you yourself are staying up."
“I’ve slept for the past few days, Enyln! You need to-“ Rigel interupted himself with a small fit of coughing, “You need to sleep! It’s not healthy, Enyln. Why won’t you sleep? I want an actual answer this time,” Rigel searched her eyes, trying to find any sign of answer. He was starting to worry about her.
"My actual answer was I just don't like sleep. And its a pretty solid on I'm my opinion!" Enyln glared at Rigel the heat gone from her cheeks replaced with a look of fear. Fear that he'd make her sleep. That she'd have to relive Jack, her brother, everyone she ever killed, everyone she couldn't save.
“Enyln…” Rigel reached a hand up to cup he cheek as concern filled his eyes, “Enyln, please…” Something wasn’t right, and it wasn’t right at all. He could see it, that glimpse of fear on her face. And he couldn’t let it go unfixed.
