"Not much… Just about how amazing you are." He smiled and laid a hand on her head. Not meaning to be in a childish way, but more like a loving gesture. People slowly but surely started to say goodbye as they disappeared into the night. It was long and tiring night and all Damian wanted at this point was to sleep. "So how are you feeling after today?"
“Exhausted… it’s been a long day.” Savannah yawned and hugged Damian for a moment. “I suppose you’ll be staying here now, won’t you? I think my parents are expecting us to sleep together (not sex just sleeping in the same bed ooft), but if you’re not comfortable with that, I’m sure we can get another bed in my room.”
Damian hugged her back and laid his chin on her head. "Of course I'm staying. What kind of husband leaves his wife alone at night?" A soft laugh escaped his lips. He took a deep breath, just wanting to take in this moment. The empty room, with just them. No one watch or taking pictures, no one trying to talk or pull them away. It was just them. "This is nice. Just us in a quiet room."
“Mhmm… mother and father made the photographers leave at some point during the reception. It’s nice to not hear camera shutters every five seconds. Honestly, that sound haunts my dreams sometimes.” Savannah laughed a bit. “I’m not sure you know where my room is, do you? Come along, I’ll lead the way.” Savannah took Damian’s hand and led him to her room.
"Well?" Caspian said as Lillian sat beside him. The woman smiled as Savannah and Damian walked off. "He's a good man. He shows promise as a ruler, like our daughter, and they definitely have a connection unlike most betrothed. Savannah is in good hands." Caspian grunted and nodded, and Lillian grinned at him. "He's much like you, you know. Only, less snooty." The sudden scowl on the king's face was enough to send her into a burst of giggles, not much to the surprise of the nearby maids and butler. She covered her mouth and patted her husband's arm in a silent apology.
Damian followed behind, with a smile on his face. She was a wonderful girl, He only hoped she liked him as much as he liked her. He wasn't in love, but with Savannah, it might not be too hard to feel that way. When the doors opened to her room, Damian was expecting more of a… Girly feel, but it wasn't like that. it was more sophisticated than he thought. He just figured she was still young so she would still be, you know, young. Maybe he was connecting her to his sister or something. "Nice room you have." The thing that caught his eye was the bed. It was huge. Did she always sleep in a bed this big?
“Thanks. Make yourself at home, I’m going to go change.” Savannah grabbed a nightdress and went into the bathroom to change. She knew that she and Damian were married of course, but basically getting naked in front of him the first night of their marriage was a bit much in her mind. She came out a minute or two later in the nightdress and put her other clothes away. The nightdress was simple and white, but it flattered her figure nicely.
Damian's eyes looked at her when she walked out and for some reason, he averted his gaze. There was something that told him not to look to close. "Alright, my turn." He pushed himself from the bed and walked into the bathroom. As soon as the door closed he had a mini meltdown. When he looked in the mirror his face was red, and even with his tanned skin, you could see it. Changing into plain black shorts, he made sure the redness of his face went down. Usually, he slept without a shirt, because he got hot easily, but he figured he would wear one tonight. The only problem is, is that he left it in the room. He wanted to get it, but Savannah hasn't seen all his scars yet. It wasn't anything big, it's just from working on the farm, but still, most girls would be turned off by it. "Well, she's going to see one day." Slowly he opened the door and walked out. Now Damian was on good shape because of how he loved physical labor. "Ah, Sorry. Just came for my shirt." He grabbed a matching black t-shirt and put it on.
Savannah was sitting on the bed when Damian came out, and she looked up at him when he did. A faint, but noticeable, pink tint rose to her cheeks when she saw him shirtless, but she soon looked away shyly. I never really noticed how attractive he is… I can understand why Seirra likes him. I’m glad she got to come to the wedding. “W-Well, it’s time for bed now… it’s very late.” Savannah cleared her throat quietly and slipped under the covers.
Damian did the same. There was an awkward amount of space between them, for being a married couple. Damian was debating if he should move closer, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable, so he stayed where he was at. Closing his eyes he took a deep breath and pictured how happy his parents will look when they see him again. It's been about six months since he ran away. Both his sister and brother probably grown so much already.
After a little while, Savannah finally managed to fall asleep. She ended up moving closer to Damian in her sleep until they were touching and sighed softly. She was clearly still asleep, as her breathing was slow and she seemed more relaxed than usual, but her subconscious self seemed to like someone else being there.
On the other hand, Damian couldn't sleep. When Savannah got closer, heat rose up and his heart was pounding. He wanted to act like a married couple, but the fact they didn't actually love each other made things a bit more difficult. "Sleep, sleep." He closed his eyes and whispered to himself. Eventually in the night he had fallen asleep.
(Tiiiiime skip)
Savannah woke up in the morning and it took her a moment to realize how close she was to Damian. She quickly moved away and got up, rifling through her closet to find something to wear. She found a casual dress to wear (https://www.formalapproach.com/ProductImages/faviana/2016/images-prom-dresses-faviana-s7815_front138-detail.jpg let's say it looks like this. Not exactly casual, but it is for her) and went into the bathroom to change in case Damian woke up.
Damian did wake up till moments later. Everything that happened yesterday was a lot. And it didn't help that Savannah's bed, was way to comfortable. It wasn't until the shades were opened that he woke up. The sun was not kind in the morning. A servant girl, stood there by the window with a box in hand, "Sir. Damian. Your clothes." She said it with a smile on her face, but he could tell she was uncomfortable. "Ah," Sitting up he stretched his tense muscles, "thank you." He stood and took the box. The girl bowed and quickly left. "I think I scare the staff here." He laughed and opened the box. The clothes were a little to fancy for his taste, but he wasn't going to complain.
Savannah came out of the bathroom all fixed up, as usual. Her hair was brushed and cleaned, and she had her makeup on. "Oh, you're awake. How did you sleep?" She sat down on the edge of the bed, combing through her wavy auburn hair with her hands. Even just a few minutes after waking up, she looked lovely.
"Really well. Honestly I didn't want to wake up." He smiled, and tired to fix his messy hair with his fingers. "I'm pretty sure your staff, or at least your maids don't like me." He walked to the bathroom to change into his new clothes. They were nice and fit for a Prince. But Damian hadn't been a Prince for six months till just a few weeks ago.
He walked out, hair nicely brushed and suit that fit him perfectly.

"You look nice. And I'm sure the staff like you fine; they're just not used to seeing a man in the princess's room." Savannah stood up, smiling softly as she took Damian's hand. "Come along. Penelope told me that the paparazzi want to take pictures outside." She walked out of the room with Damian and went outside, where the photographers immediately began taking pictures of them.
Damian lifted a hand saying hello and acknowledgingly that people were there. As cameras flashed many voice shouted from the crowd asking questions, but he couldn't exactly make one of the questions out because of how many people were talking. "Do we answer some questions?" Damian asked leaning over to Savannah.
"We probably should…" Savannah held up one hand and the chatter stopped immediately. Once she put it down, the photographer closest to them started asking questions. "Prince Damian, how are you feeling about being a married man? What is it like to be married to a girl so young?" Savannah kept quiet, since this question was to Damian.
Ah, well, I'm extremely lucky to be married to such an amazingly smart, beautiful, determined and caring. As for age, I don't think it's much of a problem." He looked over at Savannah. As he was about to say more, a tall man in the back stepped up. "How do you feel about it?" He looked at Savannah, pen and paper in hand. "How does it feel to be married to an older man, from a small country. What does his people have to offer." For a moment Damian's anger boiled up. But he knew it wasn't right for a Prince, much less a future King to start anything. And the look on this mans face clearly told him that he either had personal issues or was trying to set a fire to the crowd, and it worked. People whispered, agreeing with him. Why would a small country Prince marry the Princess, what did they have to offer?
"Oh! Um, well, I think Damian is very lovely. He's got a lot of great qualities, and he'll make a good king. The age difference doesn't bother me; he's just more prepared and responsible than he would be otherwise. His people are good people; loyal, hardworking, and strong. Having such people as allies is good for the kingdom." She seemed to have convinced some people, but this man was persistent. "Knowing how many people could be upset with this decision, do you feel safe being out in the open like this?" "Do I feel safe? Well, sure… should I not?" Is this man a real reporter? The man grinned and whistled, the sound of a gunshot sounding through the air. The bullet hit Savannah's shoulder and she gripped Damian's arm tightly, hearing screams from the crowd. The guards quickly apprehended the man and dragged him off.
The king and queen jumped at the sound of a gunshot and screaming, and a maid burst into their room. "YOUR MAJESTIES! Something went wrong! The princess has been shot!"
"What?!" Caspian and Lillian followed her out to the deck that overlooked the city, and they saw the crowd at the front of the castle scattering and some gaurds dragging a man away. They spotted Savannah and Damian, and Lillian gasped.
"My baby!" Lillian ran off, down the stairs and toward the front halls, with Caspian and a few knights following.
"I-I'm alright, really…" Savannah smiled weakly to reassure her parents when they came down. "They only hit my shoulder." She had her shoulder covered with one hand so the others couldn't see the blood. When one of the guards tried to move her hand, she turned away a bit. "Not here…" She whispered. "There's still people. I'm okay, everyone!" She waved to the few people who were still there. "We're just… going to go back inside now." She turned away and walked into the castle with the others.
Damian immediately and without thought picked her up and started running up the stairs. He ran right past the Queen, not even one look. All his head was fill with was Savannah, and getting her to the Castle infirmary. It may just be the shoulder, but shes lost a lot of blood. "Listen, you have to stay awake." Busting through the door he made a few nurses and doctors jump. But once they saw what was happening they went to work. Taking her from his hands, he stood there in shock. Why would someone do this, and what was their agenda? He didn't know… not yet. "Take care of her, I'll be back later." He stormed out and went to change his clothes. He needed to be on the streets to find out where, who and why, someone would do this. And how many there are.
While the doctors were bandaging her shoulder, Savannah kept insisting that she was fine. Sure, she was a bit lightheaded, but she hadn't been shot anywhere serious. "Where did Damian go?" She asked. The doctors didn't want to tell her at first, but eventually told her that he'd gone back out. "I need to go help him." The doctors gently held her down. "Miss, we can't let you leave in the condition. It's too dangerous." Savannah sighed and sat back, frustrated. I hope Damian doesn't get hurt too…
