"Oh, this is fine…" Septima murmured, letting out a slight nervous laugh, "Looks like a good time, yeah? Let's get going. Our friends aren't going to free themselves."
"Oh, this is fine…" Septima murmured, letting out a slight nervous laugh, "Looks like a good time, yeah? Let's get going. Our friends aren't going to free themselves."
"Slow down," said Skye, "The opening is exposed, one wrong move and we'll be spotted,"
"I'm watching carefully," Septima reassured him, slowing her pace to a creep. "We've got this…"
She took a deep breath, and made sure to stay closer to Skye.
Skye led her along the treeline, waiting for the right moment as they got closer, finally the guards both turned. "Now!" he hissed, bolting for the gutter.
Septima dashed forwards, each step almost perfectly silent. It was an easy feat, since she was so lithe and skilled in stealth. She slid into the gutter behind Skye, making as little noise as possible.
She managed to stay pretty close behind Skye still.
Skye nodded, before heading further into the tunnel.
Silver yawned. This is one of the most boring 3 moons of my life… he thought
Disgusting, Septima thought as she walked through the tunnel. She huffed softly, but pressed on. If this was the only way, so be it. She checked behind them to make sure no one followed.
They kept walking and eventually came to a wall, with a ladder to one side. Pulling a dagger from his clothing he stuck it in his teeth and began to climb.
Septima hooked her crossbow back onto a strap on her clothing and started up the ladder after Skye. She looked up to see how far it went, but couldn't see much past the half-wolf. Her breathing was heavy, not because she was tired, but because she was getting a little frightened. There was no big brother here to protect her. Just a stranger.
Skye stopped when he came to a wooden trap door. "There's a trap door here and I'm going to open it, which could mean we are getting company in the next 5 seconds" he said softly to his companion. Opening the door he got a face full of rotten hay, pushing most of it carefully back up, he pulled himself up to the top of the hole.
Septima drew one of her swords and climbed up after him, making sure to stay back just far enough to keep herself from getting kicked in the face.
"Okay… Let me know what you see," she whispered.
(Sorry had to go do stuff!)
Silver was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't see the movement in the cell next to the one he was across from.
Skye pushed the trap door up a little higher, proping it up on his head. "I can't tell where we've come in, but the floor up there is covered in hay" he said to Septima, his voice low.
(I understand! It's all good.)
"If you'll let me pass, I can maybe burn through portions of it," Septima whispered, "I should be able to do it pretty discreetly."
"We could be in one of the prisoners cells," said Skye, "we don't wanna scare 'em. Plus I don't think putting extra stress on this ladder is a good idea, " he climbed another rung, pushing the door up with his head, and peering out through the hay.
Silver got up and whacked one of the bars with his staff in frustration. If only they hadn't caught me off guard on a cresent moon! he thought, Then I wouldn't be so low on power! he sighed in frustration, still not seeing the movement in the cell next to Aurelius'.
Septima agreed quietly. "Or be seen by guards… Just let me know what I need to do, and I'll do it."
Aurelius thought he heard something from the empty cell next to him. He crawled towards the bars dividing the two cells, but didn't see anything at first.
Skye pushed the door up again to try and get a better look. Not responding to Septima in case someone heard him.
Septima held her breath, waiting for an answer. She hung back on the ladder a little bit to try seeing past him. Nothing but hay.
Aurelius then saw movement underneath the hay. He was startled at first, but then remembered Silver talking about someone coming to rescue him. Could this be them?
"H-hello?" he asked, his voice breaking off and fading into the thick prison air.
Silver looked up, "what did you say?"
Aurelius didn't say anything. He just pointed at the cell next to him, wide-eyed with surprise.
Silver studied the next cell, seeing something come up. Knowing the guards were nearby and would see if someone came out of there, he quickly began to dig in his bag. Lets see if I can't scare 'em off he thought grinning as he pulled out a vial. "Don't freak out ok?" he said to Aurelius. he downed the vial and quickly shifted. Soon he could feel the dizzying nausea come over him. as the next guard came by he was frothing at the mouth, Now! he began to bark, growling and snapping at the guard for all he was worth.
Skye heard something that sounded like a crazed animal up in the upper room. Quickly he ducked down, almost falling off for fear that it could reach the trapdoor.
Septima tapped the back of Skye's foot as a silent, "you okay?" She made sure her sword was ready, should they have to fight.
Aurelius looked a little shocked at first, but other than that, he didn't flinch. In fact, he was kind of amazed. He stayed silent, and took turns looking at Silver and the cell next to him.
Skye was a little pale, cause (Silver's) barking had scared even him. He looked down at Septima and gave her a weak smile.
Silver kept barking and snarling and generally acting like a vicious beast while the guards ran away in terror. finally calming down he shifted and quickly downed another vial. Standing silent for a few moments he then put both vials away, and dosed himself with a healing spell, then called out towards the hay pile that had moved. "If someone's under that hay we know you're there! all the guards are gone so you're safe to come up."
Aurelius watched the hay pile, but still kept an eye out for any guards who might come their way.
Septima was growing a little impatient and urged Skye onward, even though she was a little frightened, too.
Skye had heard Silver's voice and breathed a sigh of relief. "We're good to go up" said Skye pushing his way up the trap door and climbing up onto the hay.
Silver grinned mischievously when he saw Skye come out of the hay covered floor. "Took you long enough!!"
Septima followed closely behind and looked ahead of her. That must be Skye's friend.
"Septima!" Aurelius gasped softly, lunging for the bars, "I've never been so glad to see another person in my life…"
"You got separated from Val?" she asked.
"What? Val's the one who did this to me…" he murmured, "I'm lucky anyone acted."
