“Oh Rvan.” Skylar gasped and pulled the former shadow draman into a tight embrace. she wasn’t sure if Rvan wanted to be touched (especially by a ice draman with a naturally cold body temperature), but she couldn’t stand to see him shake violently. “Why didn’t you tell me Jay had done those horrible things to you?”
Rvan was surprised at the warmth she gave him. It wasn’t a physical warmth, but something on the inside. His shaking stilled and he didn’t want it to end for some reason. Rvan quietly murmured, “You love him,”
“Rvan, I never loved that a**hole. Jay never loved me, he just loved to have a girlfriend he could touch whenever and wherever he wanted. And I just wanted somebody who knew what it’s like to be in a cage, but Jay never bothered to understand that.”
There was a burning, pulsing rage that settled inside Skylar when she thought about how Jay had hurt Rvan. Her Rvan, the dragon inside of her bellowed, hers to protect.
(Rvan might feel Skylar get noticeably warmer here, but it’s a pleasant heat (not the heat that would make him burn and sweat.))
Rvan felt instant heat radiate off of Skylar. He rested his forehead on her shoulder, absorbing the heat happily. She shielded him from the horrors of his own mind. Rvan wanted time to just stop, just for a few more heartbeats. So he could stay in her arms. “You’re warm,” Rvan murmured into her shoulder and he suddenly forgot how cold it could be.
”Warm? Rvan, I’m never warm.” She said as she rested her chin on his shoulder. Rvan was cold, but he gave off a soothing coolness.
(Rvan should say: you are to me.)
Rvan murmured quietly against her shoulder, “You are to me,”
“Aww! You two are sOoOoOo cute!” Ebony remarked from the doorway happily.
Skylar quickly jerked away from her embrace with Rvan to see Ebony. “How long have you been there,” she asked, eyes wide.
Rvan was still looking at Skylar as her heat faded. She was beautiful. Then he wanted to slap himself. She didn’t want him. Rvan had to keep telling himself that.
“Oh, not to long, I just came to see if you two were ready to leave yet,” Ebony glanced at them slyly, “But I can get them to wait a bit longer if you want to snuggle more.”
“No, that’s not necessary.” Skylar said through clenched teeth as she got up from her seat. She was utterly embarrassed.
Rvan got up too. He followed Skylar and Ebony out to where they waited with supplies for when they got to the border. They all went out to above ground, then changed into their dragon forms. Rvan was helped onto Gregory once again, this time his ankle was tried to a rope connected to Gregory. They took off, the air blowing into Rvan’s face. He couldn’t get rid of the sickening feeling his dream had brought him last night.
“We are mile from the border!” Draco shouted to the protégés.
Rvan picked up the aura first. It didn’t surprise him no one else could feel it. Rvan had grown up with it. It felt like a buzz, foreign to his touch. He leaned forward on Gregory’s scales. He faintly heard one of the others shouting a cautionary statement, but he could barely listen. No, he was hearing through someone else’s ears.
“They’re coming. Don’t worry, Father. I have to admit, your jets were good temporary attacks, but this is my realm now. There’s not a chance they won’t fall into my- our hands,” A masculine, disgusting voice sneered. It was a familiar voice. It made Rvan shudder.
“I’m sorry I thought otherwise, son. I have faith in you.” Another deep masculine voice replied, then Rvan was pulled out of it when he heard a shout on his side.
“Rvan! Stop, your going to fall!” Skylar shouted in a panic, slightly below Gregory. Rvan hadn’t realized he stood up entirely. Panic laced every part of his body as he replayed the words he heard from someone else in his head. He looked to see Draco flying above him.
“They’re waiting for us, it’s a-“ Trap, Rvan desperation’s wanted to say. But he was cut off by the boom of flapping wings. There, in the distance, was a shadow draman waiting with dozens of aircraft. Waiting for them.
Ebony shrieked from her own son’s back. “What is that?!” She shouted.
Draco’s eyes widened. It was a shadow draman.
“Get ready to attack from bellow, my earth children!” Ramell shouted.
Draco shook his head. He needed to focus for the sake of his children.
“Hold your fire, until I say the word!” Draco roared.
Rvan slowly sat back down, the rope attached to his ankle tugging at him. He knew what would happen. It had already occurred when they had done tests in him. So Rvan untied the rope loosely, so it could fall off when he needed it to. And he watched as the shadows started to hurl for them. His former shadows, gone like the western breeze. And the sky went as black as the night. Rvan whispered a fear started to tear apart his soul. Gregory tried to light a fire but it was smothered by the unending black. Rvan couldn’t even see Skylar.
A voice called out, “Rvan,” It was not a welcome voice. It was a taunting voice. A voice he heard in his nightmares, “Rvan… I told you we would talk again,” Rvan was petrified, “I desire something from you Rvan…” The voice called cruelly.
Rvan shakily looked into the unending blackness. Rvan could barely move his mouth, as the voice toyed with him. Rvan responded the same way he always did, “W-What d-do you w-want from me?”
“Oh, Rvan,” His name curled off the voice’s tongue, “You know what I want. I want your complete. And. Utter. Submission,” The voice ended with a hiss, “Because when I don’t hold the shadow’s reigns entirely, I know you are still out there, kicking. Now, you can stay here, forever at that, stuck beneath my shadows, or you could choose now. So here’s your simple choice. Submit. Or. Die.”
(I think Jay should also want the special bond Rvan has with Skylar to. Also, can anyone else hear this voice?)
Rvan could feel Gregory shuddering too. “I-I don’t kn-know who you are, but I’m n-not afraid of you and you aren’t g-getting Rvan.”
“Who the hell are you?!” Skylar shrieked sending ice Spears into the darkness. She couldn’t see Rvan anymore and—gods see needed to see him right now and make sure he was safe. That beastly rage was growing inside of her…
(I think Jay should also want the special bond Rvan has with Skylar to. Also, can anyone else hear this voice?)
(Note for beloved stalkers: Everyone can hear)
“Oh dear Rvan,” The voice called in a singsong voice, despite the pure control lacing the words, “You hadn’t told them about me? Well it’s only expected, you shoved those truths so deep in the back of your dark, dark mind. I’m touched anyways. Well, Skylar,” The voice purred her name, “I missed you. Maybe after this is all over we can still be together, I could even manage making you innocent (In the council’s eyes). Just as long as Rvan can finally do what he’s good for.” The pure regality in his tone told stories of how confident he was. How scared Rvan was.
“Jay?” Skylar gasped. It couldn’t be Jay, though. Jay was one of the people she had left behind never to see again. The people she knew before she dared to break her cage.
“You guessed right, Baby,” Jay replied in the darkness, purposely brushing his claw tip gently next to her wing. Skylar jerked away, “What is it Babe? Don’t let my shadows scare you, they’re only meant for one person here,” Rvan knew, he just knew, that Jay was watching him through the shadows. And he froze, paralyzed in fear.
“Rvan,” A falsetto of a gentle voice, “You know what I want, pet.” Jay spat out ‘pet’ like a curse. And Rvan stood, shaking the securing rope off his ankle. Then Rvan was swept off his feet into the open air, grabbed only by a painfully tight claw hold. The darkness started to dissipate and Jay is his dragon form looked over Rvan’s cast and blown off ear. Jay took Rvan’s cast, and snapped his arm once more. Rvan let out a painful yelp.
(By the way, the others can now (just barely) see through the shadow fog)
“Rvan!!” Skylar screamed as she shot towards. Howdareyouhowdareyouhow DARE you, every fiber of her being roared at Jay. Everything burned.
“No.” Draco gasped as he watched Skylar fly towards Rvan and Jay. She was literally on fire. Her wings were set a flame and her once-ivory body had changed to the color of bright amber. She burned though every shadow that touched her.
