"Well, Carter is technically my half brother and Lucy is my stepsister but I treat them both the same as I treat Annabelle and Kyle."

"Fascinating… there are not many cases of such things with elves, as they don't typically remarry or divorce in the first place."

"Lucky…I wish humans were like that." He muttered.

Leon sighed, "Yeah. He's…. Different around me."

"Any specific reasoning?"

Jack pulled her back into the hug. He asked softly, "She what?"

"She's already set me up with interviews at acting schools. I have one every day next week, plus one tomorrow night."

"Elves are both simple and complex at the same time. They don't like to complicate things with the sort of problems that humans struggle with, and yet they are layered in so many ways. You'll never find two elves who act exactly the same, who have the same goals or desires. However, all elves are fiercely passionate to their crafts."

"Where's the fun in that? I'm sorry, I don't mean for this to sound insulting, but that sounds so boring. The entire point of falling in love is to have to fight for it. Looking for just the right person. Why do you think so many humans are single? Because they haven't found the right one yet."

Jack wanted to walk up to her and punch Mrs. Turner in the face, "She can't do that. It's not proper. She doesn't even have your fucking consent!"

"I mean, they do. An elf may spend years looking for their perfect match. They will marry the right person and therefore have no need for divorce."

"So do humans. But, unlike elves, things change. People change. Love can change." His face went blank for a second, then he shook his head and snapped out of it.

"But why would your love change if you're already with the one you love?"

"Because people can change. Someone you were in love with yesterday could turn out to be a violent alcoholic today but you didn't know that because you weren't with them 24/7.

"Hmm… you humans seem to have a lot of problems in that area." It takes a lot for elves to get drunk…

"That's just an example but it's a fairly common one." He shrugged.

"I thought people helped their lovers in the face of such perils? Or do they just abandon them?"

He laughed. "Are you nuts? No! Humans are such easily manipulated creatures. They lose sight from what they claim they love the most by the simplest things."

"Maybe humans just need to figure out how to identify what it is they truly care about." Caire shrugged.

"That's the thing. They claim they do. They throw around I love you like it's nothing. While, yes, some people actually mean it, most people don't. But in reality, they don't care about anyone but themselves."

"I wish there was a way to help people realize what's right, but there's so many people in the world… it would be impossible."

"You can't save everyone." He whispered softly. He could barely save himself. Much less anyone else.

"I know… god knows how many times I've tried and failed to do just that." Caire shook her head sadly.

That I do. Answer, a whole damn lot. Quiet Cameron. He smiled a little. "Not by yourself, no."

"What do you mean? I've only ever really done things on my own."

"You can't save everyone by yourself. You don't have to do everything alone. While, yes, most of the time you can, you don't always have to. Sometimes it feels better to do something with someone else even though you know you can do it alone."

"But even if we worked together, two people couldn't do it either, could they? I mean, it's entirely unfeasible."
